BritBox has announced that it has expanded its deal with BAFTA to continue its broadcast of the EE BAFTA Film Awards on 18 February 2024 while also expanding its agreement to – for the first time – include coverage of the BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises, taking place on 12 May 2024.
Kensington Palace have confirmed today that HRH Prince William, President of BAFTA, will attend the awards ceremony on Sunday.
The deal covers exclusive simulcast streaming for both awards ceremonies in 2024 and 2025 for BritBox audiences in the US, Canada, South Africa, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Norway. Australian audiences will also be able to view both awards ceremonies on BritBox on-demand.
The BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises will air in May 2024 and spotlight the best television content from 2023. This will be the first time that the television awards have been broadcast in North America, South Africa, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway.
The 77th EE BAFTA Film Awards will be simulcast and streaming live from London on BritBox on Sunday, February 18, 2024 with host David Tennant. This year the red carpet will be hosted by Clara Amfo and Alex Zane.
“BritBox is known for being home to the best British content from some of the UK’s most prolific names and iconic cultural events which makes our simulcast of the BAFTAs to our audiences around the world so special,” said Reemah Sakaan, CEO of BritBox International. “BritBox and BAFTA have a shared vision to celebrate the very best of British creativity so it has been a pleasure to work together to expand our partnership to include both the BAFTA Film and Television awards later this spring.”.

As you might recall, the EE BAFTA Awards nominees were announced earlier this week and nominated twice was refugee Drama, LIMBO. The Film now will be making its way to North America next month.
Synopsis:
LIMBO is a wry and poignant observation of the refugee experience, set on a fictional remote Scottish island where a group of new arrivals await the results of their asylum claims. It centres on Omar, a young Syrian musician who is burdened by his grandfather’s oud, which he has carried all the way from his homeland.
Reflecting the complexity of the movement of people across borders has been a long-held passion for director and writer Ben Sharrock, who spent time working for an NGO in refugee camps in southern Algeria and living in Damascus in 2009 shortly before the outbreak of the Syrian civil war. There, he formed a network of friends whose personal stories inspired the film.
Written and directed by Sharrock, LIMBO stars Amir El Masry (The Night Manager), along with Vikash Bhai, Ola Orebiyi, Kwabena Ansah, Sidse Babett Knudsen and Kais Nashif (Tel Aviv on Fire). Producers are Irune Gurtubai and Angus Lamont.
Focus Features release LIMBO in select theatres Friday, April 30, 2021.

12 Years a Slave was awarded Best Picture at the 62nd annual BAFTA Awards at London’s Royal Opera House earlier today and is believed by many to be the definitive choice to win in the same Category at next month’s Academy Awards in Los Angeles. Despite receiving a whopping ten nominations, the Drama directed by Steve McQueen, took home two Awards, with British Actor Chiwetel Ejofor taking Leading Actor in an Awards Season stateside which has been dominated by Matthew McConaughey.
Also awarded today were Cate Blanchett for Leading Actress in Blue Jasmine – a feat she likely will repeat at the Oscars, an absent Jennifer Lawrence for Supporting Actress in American Hustle and Barkhad Abdi for Supporting Actor in Captain Phillips. Will Poulter, who starred in last year’s Box Office Smash We’re The Millers, was awarded the EE Rising Star Award.
While the Hardware may have been handed out today, the Parties were alive and kicking last night and the one to be at certainly was Harvey Weinstein‘s BAFTA Nominees Dinner, sponsored by Burberry and Grey Goose Vodka. Held at Little House in Mayfair, London, the dazzling Affair boasted a Guest List including the likes of Uma Thurman, Keira Knightley, Naomi Harris, Cara Delevingne, Poppy Delevingne, Suki Waterhouse, Paloma Faith, Steve Coogan, Steve McQueen, Douglas Booth, Jamie Campbell Bower, Samantha Barks, Richard E Grant, Philomena Lee, Nick Grimshaw, Sam Claflin, Laura Haddock and Daniel Brühl.
The Star of the Evening being Grey Goose‘s LE FIZZ Cocktail (Recipe here!), the Libation named the Celebratory Drink of Choice. For Appetizers, Guests enjoyed a variety of Canapes, Scallop and Grapefruit Ceviche, Cavolo Nero Crisps and Prawn and Guacamole Skewers. The luxurious three-course Dinner included: Quinoa, Beetroot, Cucumber and Radish followed by Roast Fillet of Beef, with a light Lemon Meringue for Dessert. WWWT (wish we were there)!!!

The accolades continue to pour-in for Argo, which won top honours today including Best Picture and Best Director (Ben Affleck) at the EE BAFTA Awards, held at London’s Royal Opera House. Acclaimed Actor Stephen Fry filled hosting duties. The Drama also won Best Editing, further drawing attention to the Academy‘s snubbing of Affleck at this year’s forthcoming Oscars in the Directing category.
Winning British Film at the Awards this year was Skyfall, the latest in the James Bond Franchise. Composer Thomas Newman also won Original Music too for the connections of the Film.
Tom Hooper’s Les Misérables also took home an impressive four Awards including shoe-in Anne Hathaway for her work as Fantine. The Film also won Best Hair and Makeup, Production Design and Sound also.
Perhaps the biggest Shocker to come out of the EE BAFTA Awards was 85-year-old Actress Emmanuelle Riva‘s win for Amour, which also won Best ForeignFilm. The Category was seen widely as a match between Zero Dark Thirty‘s Jessica Chastain and Silver Linings Playbook‘s Jennifer Lawrence, further evincing what a wide-open affair this year’s Oscars really is. Not so surprisingly, Daniel Day-Lewis was honoured for his work in Lincoln.
Picking-up the EE BAFTA Rising Star Award this year is Juno Temple who is making a splash stateside in titles like Dirty Girl, Killer Joe and The Dark Knight Rises.
See all the Winners here.
See some of the Fashion from the BAFTAs at Vogue UK here.
e! will be airing the BAFTAs at 7:00 PM EST/4:00 PM PAC tomorrow, February 11, 2013.
