Synopsis:

After spending a tense beach day with their friends, Adelaide and her family return to their vacation home. When darkness falls, the Wilsons discover the silhouette of four figures holding hands as they stand in the driveway. US pits an endearing American family against a terrifying and uncanny opponent: doppelgängers of themselves.

Writer and director Peele produces for his Monkeypaw Productions alongside Sean McKittrick, Jason Blum, and Ian Cooper.

This is so amazing! Taron Egerton surprised fans at Elton John’s 95th show as part of his FAREWELL YELLOW BRICK ROAD Tour last night in Hove, UK. THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS 2 prevails at the Box Office, opening on-top with $46.2 million from 4,561 theatres for Universal Pictures. It gets 54% on the Tomatometer and an A- CinemaScore. While impressive, this feat still is unable to top its 2016 Predecessor’s $104 million bow.

In second is DARK PHOENIX with $33.9 million from 3,721 theatres in in its debut for 20th Century Fox. It gets 22% on the Tomatometer and B- CinemaScore. The Film has the lowest grossing opening to date for the X-Men Franchise.

ALADDIN still is going strong in third this weekend with $24.6 million, a three week tally of $210 million in North America.

GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS slips to fourth this weekend with $14.4 million, a total $77.4 million over two weeks domestically for Warner Bros.

BOOKSMART rounds-out the Top Ten with $1.6 million from 1,134 theatres for eOne Films/United Artists Releasing. It has made $17.8 million over three weeks.

The Blue Carpet was rolled out today at Sony Centre for the Performing Arts in celebration of the 2019 CTV Upfront. The annual affair which brings-in a bevvy of talent to present their Fall lineup, also gives potential advertisers a chance to see where there products will be seen on the Bell Media family of networks.

The fan-friendly event which gives fans a chance to see and meet the talent, saw several marquee names like Canada’s  Cobie Smulders and Michael Ealy here to present Stumptown; Kevin McKidd and Greg Hermann for the just-renewed two seasons of Grey’s Anatomy; Donald Faison and Allison Tolman for Emergence; Wilson Bethel for All Rise; Hill Harper for The Good Doctor; and Jay Hayden and Jason George for Station 19. On the Canadian front, Cardinal’s upcoming fourth season was presented by Canadian Screen Award winners Karine Vanasse and Billy Campbell and also upcoming Medical Drama Transplant brought out John Hannah, Laurence LeBeouf and Hamza Haq. Breakout hit Series The Masked Singer also was acquired and joins CTV’s lineup.

Canadian Actress and Author EvangelineL returns home for a special fan event at Indigo Manulife Centre for her latest children’s book, The Squickerwonkers Act 1: The Demise of Selma the Spoiled. She has spent the past seven years planning the series of twenty children’s books.

The mother of two kids, eight and three, describes her Series as “Cautionary tales for modern day brats. Things end badly for all my characters because in life no matter how good you are, things are go sideway. Those lessons are really important.”.

On her plans to develop these books into a Movie, Lilly says “My dream is to see #Squickerwonkers in a stop-motion live action animation movie with Marionette puppets. I’m developing a package about that.”.

Running September 19 through 29, 2019, the right annual JFL42 Festival presented by SiriusXM is about to come to Toronto to lift us from those post-TIFF blues! This year is better than ever with a roster of talent that’s fresh and now including the likes of John Mulaney and Pete Davidson, Jonathan Van Ness, Gabrial Iglesias, Nick Kroll, Marc Maron, Eric Andre, How Did This Get Made and icon Carol Burnett all making their way to the City. The latter, just received earlier this year the inaugural Carol Burnett Award for Achievement in Television at the Golden Globe Awards. Her special event will be known as CAROL BURNETT: AN EVENING OF LAUGHTER AND REFLECTION.
