THE CHEMISTRY OF DEATH, an adaptation of critically acclaimed English author Simon Beckett’s first two novels, will debut on Paramount+ on January 19th in Canada, the UK and Australia. The series debuts in Germany, Switzerland and Austria on Jan 12th, with premiere dates for other Paramount+ international markets to be announced at a later date.
The crime fiction thriller is based on Beckett’s first two tales which chronicle the work of Dr. David Hunter, a former forensic anthropologist now working as a GP, who is drawn back into his old profession following a mysterious and gruesome murder.
Beckett’s novels – The Chemistry of Death and Written in Bone – are part of the David Hunter series, which have sold over 12 million copies worldwide, making Beckett one of Europe’s bestselling international authors.
The series stars Harry Treadaway (“Penny Dreadful”, “Star Trek: Picard”) as Dr. David Hunter, an exceptionally talented forensic anthropologist. Following the tragic loss of his family, he builds a new existence in the small English village of Manham, working as a family doctor together with Dr. Henry Maitland, played by Lucian Msamati (“Game of Thrones”, “Luther”, “Doctor Who”).
After a mutilated body turns up in the woods, the local police unexpectedly ask David to help solve the murder case. Despite the painful memories this awakens in him, David agrees to work for the police again. The decision leads him to the Hebridean island of Runa, Scotland, where he becomes involved in a case that is bigger than himself – and which is soon to put his life in danger.
Produced in the UK by Cuba Pictures / Nadcon, in association with Paramount, THE CHEMISTRY OF DEATH will air weekly on streamer Paramount+ from 19th January 2023. Director for the series is Richard R. Clark (“War of the Worlds”, “Versailles”, “Outlander”) with Matt Carver as producer and Dixie Linder, Nick Marston & Peter Nadermann as executive producers on the series while the script is written by Sukey Venables Fisher.
The cast also includes Amy Nuttall (“Downton Abbey”, “Emmerdale”), Katie Leung (“Harry Potter”, “T2 Trainspotting”), Jeanne Goursaud (“The Barbarians”, The Teacher”), Nick Blood (“Euphoria”, “Close to Me”), David Hayman (“Taboo”, “Trial of Retribution”) and Hardy Krüger Jr. (“Against the Wind”, “Stauffenberg”). Shooting of the six-episode series began mid-May in Scotland and Norfolk.
In UK, Canada and Australia, THE CHEMISTRY OF DEATH will debut episodes weekly from January 19th, 2023 on Paramount+.

Andes Cookies. Occasionally I get asked, what is an Andes? If you grew-up in the ’80s, you might remember these Crème de Menthe Chocolate Thins with three layers: two of which are milk chocolate and the center, a creamy mint filling. They are wrapped in a shimmery green slip and if you’ve ever been to an Olive Garden, they serve a similar one to you after your meal when you pay your bill. While I was at Target last month, I was delighted to see Andes Mint Chips in the baking section and had to grab a bag. I envisioned making big mounds of chunky cookies crammed with the Mint Chips but also stuffing them each with a larger Mint Thin. I’ve always been of the mindset that it’s better to make one jumbo cookie to save me from having to eat two or three!
If you notice, my cookie recipes don’t contain a lot of sugar. That’s because the Mint Chips and Thin Mints have more than enough in them already. These came out wonderful and will bring these back out again next Holiday!

In a galaxy far, far away we have the first two episodes of The Book of Boba Fett and while there is a lot of back story and information thrown at the audience, there is definitely a lot to have for die-hard fans and casual fans alike. Not going to spoil anything, including the end of The Mandalorian either, but there more back story of how Boba Fett became Boba Fett versus where he currently resides and the responsibilities he has now. But strap yourself in for the adventure worth a bounty!
Episodes one and two feature our titular character, Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) and his right hand advocate Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) as they’re continuing their saga as it ended at the end of The Mandalorian Season Two. While balancing what is happening in the current time, they explore the past and how Boba Fett came to be the world’s greatest Bounty Hunter. There is a lot for fans to indulge in within these first two episodes, while sometimes the time shifting is a little hard to follow, there are always great fight sequences and a Batman Begins-esque training montage explaining how he became who he is.
There is so much to indulge in and enjoy with these first two episodes of The Book of Boba Fett, however it will always leave the audiences wanting more as each episode ends. There is so much to unpack, without spoiling anything, and brings forth some truly deep cut characters like Black Krrsantan showing up in episode two. There is a lot to love about The Book of Boba Fett and we cannot wait to see what else comes forward in this season in the Star Wars universe.
Episodes one and two of THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT is now streaming on Disney+.
