This spring, SARA enters its next evolution, reopening with a tasting-menu-only format designed to deepen the restaurant’s focus on connection, storytelling, and shared dining. After a period of thoughtful refinement, the four-time Michelin Guide–recommended restaurant will welcome guests with “The Journey,” a curated seven-course tasting experience priced at $115 per guest.
Since opening in 2018, SARA has built a loyal following for its globally inspired cuisine and warm hospitality. The move to a tasting-menu-only format reflects both the restaurant’s original ethos and the way SARA’s guests have naturally chosen to experience it. Rather than navigating an “à la carte” menu, guests are invited to settle in and experience a carefully composed progression of dishes designed to be enjoyed together.
Conceptualized by Owner Adrian Niman and developed by Executive Chef Lia Caufin, the menu draws inspiration from the cultural diversity that defines Toronto, reflecting the city’s vibrant multicultural food landscape.
The experience begins with a series of playful, flavour-forward bites before moving through a progression of bold savoury courses built on unexpected combinations, all thoughtfully composed to unfold throughout the evening. Dishes will evolve throughout the year as the kitchen continues to highlight seasonal ingredients and new ideas, with select SARA favourites making a return along the way.
Guests can also opt for a curated wine pairing ($60 per person), created by SARA’s Wine Director, Merrin McHugh, designed to complement the progression of the menu. Focused on sustainable, low-intervention wines from small producers, the pairing is thoughtful and approachable, introducing something new while always staying grounded in what works best with the food.
“The tasting menu has always been at the heart of SARA,” says Adrian Niman, Founder of SARA and The Food Dudes. “By focusing entirely on that format, we can shape the experience around our guests, creating something that feels thoughtful, unpretentious, and rooted in the flavours of Toronto.”
Rather than emphasizing exclusivity, the menu focuses on thoughtful ingredients, bold flavours, and exceptional value. The goal is a curated dining experience that feels both elevated and welcoming, one that encourages guests to relax, engage with the food, and connect with the people around the table.
SARA’s physical space continues to play an important role in that experience. Designed by Odami studio, known for its contemporary work with brands such as Aesop, the 50-seat restaurant unfolds across two levels, with curved walls, textured surfaces, and warm lighting creating a sense of intimacy and movement. Upstairs, a vaulted ceiling and sweeping curved banquette encourage communal dining and conversation, reinforcing the restaurant’s philosophy that memorable meals are built around connection.
