#SPOTTED: CALLINA LIANG IN TORONTO FOR “STREET FIGHTER” WORLD WARRIORS SCREENING

Toronto got a huge surprise at the special advance screening of STREET FIGHTER! Canada’s very own Callina Liang popped-up at the screening to an enthusiastic reaction at Cineplex Yonge-Eglinton & VIP to introduce the Blockbuster, which is expected to make around $70 million globally in its debut.

Other stars from the Film popped-up at their hometown screenings too in what were called World Warriors screenings in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Atlanta, Cleveland, Ft. Lauderdale, Toronto, Sydney, Amsterdam, and Tokyo.

Co-financed by Capcom and Legendary, the Film brings to life the beloved Video Game which a combination of both live-action and Animation, with Kitao Sakurai directing. The Film follows Chun-Li (Liang) as she recruits estranged friends Ken (Noah Centineo) and Ryu (Andrew Koji) to fight in a tournament, while confronting the ruthless M. Bison (David Dasmaltchian).

Liang tells Virgin Radio’s Shannon Burns at the screening that she learned she got the role while at Barry’s in Yorkville here in Toronto, reacting in such a loud way that people around her were concerned if she was alright!

Some highlights from the night, which saw fun photo ops, complimentary popcorn and souvenirs from the night!

#FIRSTLOOK: “STREET FIGHTER” TO FEATURE HAND-DRAWN ANNIMATION WITH TITMOUSE

Street Fighter incorporates original hand-drawn animation created in partnership with acclaimed animation studio Titmouse. Woven throughout the film, the animated sequences explore Ryu and Ken’s shared history and the origins of the bond – and rivalry – that define their relationship. Inspired by the style and craftsmanship of 1990s Japanese anime, the filmmakers chose traditional hand-drawn animation to reflect the film’s heightened 1993 setting and honor Street Fighter’s longstanding connection to animation. Every frame was drawn by an artist, giving the sequences a distinct look that remains fully connected to the film’s larger visual world.

DON LEE MAKES SPECIAL APPEARANCE IN PARAMOUNT PICTURES AND LEGENDARY PICTURES’ STREET FIGHTER AS THE VOICE OF MASTER GOUKEN IN THE FILM’S ANIMATED SEQUENCES

The Film Will Feature Original Hand-Drawn Animation Scenes from Titmouse Exploring the Backstory of Ryu and Ken

Los Angeles, CA – October 9, 2026 – Paramount Pictures and Legendary Entertainment announced today that international action star Don Lee (Train to Busan, Eternals, The Roundup) will make a special appearance as Master Gouken in the upcoming live-action feature Street Fighter, based on CAPCOM’s iconic video game franchise and directed by Kitao Sakurai (Beef, Dave, Bad Trip). Lee appears as Gouken in the film and voices the character in its original animated flashback sequences. Gouken is the legendary martial arts master who trained Ryu, played by Andrew Koji, and Ken, played by Noah Centineo. A deeply influential figure in both fighters’ lives, Gouken sets Ryu and Ken on their individual quests for greatness and enlightenment.

“I’m so excited for audiences to experience Don Lee’s incredible performance as Master Gouken in Street Fighter’s animated sequences,” said Kitao Sakurai. “Inspired by the Japanese Anime that I grew up with, each frame of our animation was painstakingly drawn by hand, a true labor of love. Don Lee’s performance gives life to an iconic character, and I’m so proud of what we were able to accomplish.

Street Fighter incorporates original hand-drawn animation created in partnership with acclaimed animation studio Titmouse. Woven throughout the film, the animated sequences explore Ryu and Ken’s shared history and the origins of the bond, and rivalry, that define their relationship.

Set in 1993, Street Fighter follows estranged fighters Ryu and Ken as they are drawn back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li, played by Callina Liang, recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament. But behind the battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other – and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it’s GAME OVER! Street Fighter opens exclusively in theaters on October 16, 2026.

Based on the iconic CAPCOM video game series, the film has a story by Dalan Musson and Gary Dauberman and a screenplay by Kitao Sakurai and T.J. Fixman. Kitao Sakurai directs.

The film stars Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, Andrew Koji as Ryu, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoai as Akuma, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Orville Peck as Vega, Eric André as Don Sauvage, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, Olivier Richters as Zangief, Hirooki Goto as E.
