Premiering tomorrow on CBC Gem, three-part Short Form series THE 410 centers on a young South Asian woman (Supinder Wraich) who is left to her own devices after her truck driving father is imprisoned for drug trafficking. She turns to crime to bail him out of jail, placing herself at great risk, crossing paths with some key people in her life to make it happen.
The gritty Series created, written and starring the talented Wraich examines crime and culture, making for an intense watch. Wraich is perfect as the anti-heroine balancing moral judgement with the greater good even if it means doing the unconventional.
The Cast and Crew behind THE 410, named after a highway which connects Brampton to Greater Toronto, celebrated its release at the Artspace Sandbox on Adelaide Street West. In attendance were Wraich, Jade Hassouné (Shadowhunters), Balinder Johal (Beeba Boys), Sarena Parmar (Suits, Degrassi: The Next Generation) and Renuka Jeyapalan (Workin’ Moms, Kim’s Convenience). Special guests included Kimberly Sue-Murray (Shadowhunters), Vinay Virmani (Dr. Cabbie, Little Italy) and among others, Karena Evans star of Canadian Screen Award-winning Firecrackers and Director of Drake’s videos for smash hits, In My Feelings, God’s Plan and Nice for What.
Wraich tells the audience in a Q&A about repeat times in high school where others would tell her “You’re pretty for a brown girl”, which initially she thought was a compliment before realizing that it really wasn’t. She describes her process writing the story and returning to her roots very much like her character Suri whom after being blonde and wearing blue contact lenses, finds herself, owning her “brown-ness” embracing again her family and community, the very things that once made her feel very insecure.

The purple carpet was rolled out for the Canadian Premiere of AVENGERS: ENDGAME at Scotiabank Centre. The fourth and final film in the Avengers franchise and 22nd film set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is projected to smash Box Office records this weekend in its debut, already earning $107 million worldwide before its release. It takes place after the destructive events that take place in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR after Thanos’ (Josh Brolin) snap of a finger which leads to half the living being wiped-out. We see the band of surviving superheroes come together to undo the destruction, including Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), James Rhodes (Don Cheadle), Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and Rocket (Bradley Cooper). For the first time ever, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) appears in the Avengers franchise.
This tour-de-force finale from Joe and Anthony Russo would have made Marvel mastermind Stan Lee proud. It runs high on action and emotion and cannot be missed, even if you have missed some installments of the MCU!

What good is some sun on a weekend if it can’t be enjoyed right? We spotted some stars out and about this weekend including the hotly-buzzed Greenwood Stakes at Woodbine Racetrack, some returning back to work after a breather.
Our second home Woodbine Racetrack, was where it was at this past Saturday as Toronto’s A-List gathered under the sun trackside for cocktails, racing, music, fashion and fun at the Greenwood Stakes. Celebrating the 10th anniversary of Vancouver’s Deighton Cup, the affair saw socalities abound including the likes of Suzanne Rogers, Glen Baxter (Fashion Television), Shadowhunters’ Dominic Sherwood, The Umbrella Academy‘s Jordan C. Robbins and more! Sherwood tells us he neither won or loss at the races, but does appear to know a thing or two having been to Royal Ascot in his native England.
We hope the bustling event which takes its inspiration from both Royal Ascot and the Kentucky Derby, will come back again soon!

We posted a complete Album on Facebook here.
Also don’t forget to check-out our Webseries with Woodbine Racetrack, MR. WILL’S PATH TO THE PLATE, as we near our favourite Festival of the Summer, the Queen’s Plate! Episodes are out every Thursday leading-up to the Festival and each week we meet a new Contender and the unsung heroes in their success stories!
Catch-up on episodes 1 though 4 here.
Emmy Raver-Lampman already is a star of the stage having appeared on Broadway in Wicked and Hamilton. She has landed a high-profile gig as Allison in Netflix‘s upcoming Series The Umbrella Academy based on My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way‘s Comic Books. While the Series isn’t due till 2019, it will continue to film till July in Toronto.
Three-time Grammy winner Ben Harper plays The Mod Club tonight in support of 14th Studio Disc No Mercy in this Land. The veteran Singer/Songwriter was all smiles arriving from L.A. with his Band and Crew.
We’ve had the pleasure of meeting Pablo Schreiber a few times now but it’s always nice seeing him, a class act. He returns to Toronto to begin work on season two of AMERICAN GODS after some delays. You know him as Pornstache from acclaimed Netflix Series Orange is the New Black, something which on paper seems unflattering but believe us, that is a good thing!
We have come so close to meeting Emily Browning a few times but we’re thrilled finally to get a Selfie with the talented Australian-born Actress. She filmed Pomepeii opposite Kit Harington (Game of Thrones) a few summers back and we missed her again when she promoted Legend alongside Tom Hardy at TIFF! While she was in a bit of a rush after waiting on all her luggage she was kind to stop for a rush of fans off her flight. Like Schreiber, she also stars in Series American Gods.

Starring in the eagerly-awaited upcoming adaptation of Kevin Kwan‘s bestselling Crazy Rich Asians, fellow Malaysians Michelle Yeoh and Henry Golding, plus Glee alumni Harry Shum Jr. coincidentally all are in Toronto right now working on their own respective projects. We spotted them having a mini crazy-rich reunion over sushi at hotspot Ja Bistro!
Yeoh, known best for her work in Academy Award-winning Films Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Memoirs of a Geisha, in addition to a litany of blockbusters in Chinese-speaking Asia, continues filming STAR TREK: DISCOVERY in the City in which she stars as Captain Georgiou. The Series premieres on CBS September 24, 2017! In Jon M. Chu‘s much-hyped Crazy Rich Asians, she plays controlling matriarch Eleanor Young. Yes!
Golding, a fresh face in these parts, is set to make a big splash stateside starring as Nicholas Young in Crazy Rich Asians. He is filming currently Paul Feig‘s (The Heat, Bridesmaids) debut Thriller, A Simple Favor starring alongside Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively. The Film is based on the Darcey Bell Novel of the same name and about a mommy blogger who tries to figure out the disappearance of her friend Emily.
Shum, returns to Toronto where he films the third season of popular Series Shadowhunters (The Mortal Instruments) through next spring, reprising his role as Magnus Bane.
We were lucky enough to stop Yeoh and Golding for a quick chat after their dinner and they were amazing to stop for Selfies en route to their next stop on their Friday night in Entertainment District.

Announcing nominees were a trio of Canadian talent including actors Maxim Roy (Shadowhunters), Simu Liu (Kim’s Convenience) and Amanda Brugel (The Handmaid’s Tale).

Newly-appointed Academy CEO Beth Janson who returned to Canada recently after a stint in the U.S., comments on the lack of a star system in Canada and hence the necessity of recognizing our own Canadian talent which she is certain has no shortage of. “The stories we tell are increasingly reflective of our diverse experiences as Canadians, and that is a trend to cherish”, she tells a room of industry, media and nominees.

Brought to Toronto by way of love, award-raking Modern Family star Sarah Hyland made her way to Toronto earlier today. She is in town to visit her beau, English Actor Dominic Sherwood, who has been hard at work on Young Adult series Shadowhunters, based on Cassandra Clare‘s popular novels The Mortal Instruments.
Decked-out in the most amazing pair of sunglasses and a tank top, the 24-year-old beauty was so nice to stop for a quick chat and a Selfie before heading-off. It’s always refreshing seeing you talent so grounded and nice!
Hyland was in Toronto earlier this summer at the MuchMusic Video Awards with Sherwood but hasn’t been seen since.

Always a pleasure! We spotted the lovely Katherine McNamara making her way back to the City after an extended July 4th weekend break in Los Angeles! The Actress, cast in the lead role of Clary Fray in upcoming The Mortal Instruments TV Series, Shadowhunters, continues filming in Toronto through October. The Series will air on ABC Family.
McNamara, sporting her red locks for the role and overalls, was nice enough to stop for Fans, signing one Autograph each and posing for a couple Selfies! She did indicate that the Series is asking her to be a bit more judicious in signing Autographs, hence imposing a limit for Autograph Seekers.
Definitely a name to keep a tab on. She next can be seen in The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials.

Filming just began this week for ABC Family‘s Shadowhunters, based on Cassandra Clare’s bestselling The Mortal Instruments Series of Young Adult Novels. After some night shoots this week, the Cast had a relaxing day around town.
We spotted stars Harry Shum (Magnus Bane), Isaiah Mustafa (Luke Garroway) and Matthew Daddario (Alec Lightwood) out and about – the former two meeting up for a Movie at Scotiabank Theatre, while the latter was out playing some Basketball before going out to dinner.
All were more than nice to stop for Selfies! Daddario (brother of Alexandra who stars in this weekend’s #1 Movie at the Box Office, San Andreas) made himself presentable even promising a Pic after he showered and walking right over to me after he was Photo-ready!
We know how supportive you Shadowhunters have been so this one is for all of you!
