Synopsis:

When a magical meteor crash lands in Adventure City, it gives the PAW Patrol pups superpowers, transforming them into The MIGHTY PUPS! But things take a turn for the worse when the pups’ arch-rival Humdinger breaks out of jail and teams up with a mad scientist to steal the superpowers for the two villains. With the fate of Adventure City hanging in the balance, the Mighty Pups have to stop the supervillains before it’s too late, and Skye will need to learn that even the smallest pup can make the biggest difference.

Following the global success of PAW Patrol: THE MOVIE™, Spin Master Entertainment, Nickelodeon Movies, Paramount Pictures, and Elevation Pictures today revealed a star-studded lineup of new and returning talent who will join Golden Globe-winning Taraji P. Henson (“Empire”, Muppets Haunted Mansion) for the upcoming sequel PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie™. The CGI animated film, a Spin Master Entertainment production in association with Nickelodeon Movies, will be distributed by Paramount Pictures worldwide and Elevation Pictures in Canada. Its exclusive theatrical release on October 13th, 2023.
 
Preschoolers’ favorite team of pups return to the big screen with new voice talent including Golden Globe® nominated actor Kristen Bell (Frozen, Zootopia), ChristianConvery (“Sweet Tooth”), McKenna Grace (Gifted, “The Handmaid’s Tale”), Lil Rel Howery (Get Out, Free Guy), James Marsden (Disenchanted, Sonic The Hedgehog), Finn Lee-Epp (Let Him Go) as Ryder, and tennis ace Serena Williams. A trio of new
pups also join the ranks, voiced by Critics Choice Award winner Alan Kim (Minari), TikTok star Brice Gonzalez of EnkyBoys and North West, joins her mom Kim Kardashian returns as Delores from the first movie. Additional cast members reprising their roles include Marsai Martin (Liberty), Ron Pardo (Mayor Humdinger) and Callum Shoniker (Rocky). The film’s score is composed and produced by Emmy-nominated Pinar Toprak (Captain Marvel, The Lost City).

“This year marks the 10th anniversary of the PAW Patrol® franchise and what better way to celebrate than the release of our second feature film,” said Jennifer Dodge, Spin Master’s President of Entertainment and Producer of the film. “As we continue to expand the PAW Patrol universe for fans, we’ll follow the pups on mightier missions and explore their backstories, this time with a heartwarming tale centered around our heroine Skye. In 2021, pup domination ensued when the preschool powerhouse franchise’s first feature film premiered in theatres, opening in the number-one spot in Canada and ending with a total office of 7.5 million and 20% of the North American market share. PAW PATROL: THE MOVIE was the highest-grossing Canadian film of 2021. 

Additional new cast members include Luxton Handspiker (Slumberland, “PAW Patrol” TV Series), Christian Corrao (“Dino Dana”) and Nylon Parthipan (“PAW Patrol” TV Series).

Movies are back in a big way! The Pandemic could not stop Moviegoers form flocking to theatres this weekend to see Marvel’s SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS. The latest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe starring Toronto’s Simu Liu, debuts atop the Box Office with $67.8 million (potentially $85 million by end of day Monday) from 4,300 theatres across North America, a record for biggest three-day Labour Day weekend opening. Add to this, this is the first ever Asian-led Film to reach this success! Critics agree the Film is a blast with a 92% on the Tomatometer.

In second is last week’s #1 film, CANDYMAN, taking $10.4 million for an anticipated total domestic run of $41.7 million by the end of Labour Day weekend for Universal Pictures.

FREE GUY lands in third with $8.9 million from 3,885 theatres for 20th Century Studios, a cumulative $94.5 million over four weeks. Not bad at all!

Fourth spot goes to PAW PATROL: THE MOVIE with $4.1 million from 3,004 theatres, a three week run of $31.7 million.

Disney’s JUNGLE CRUISE, which just has been announced to have a Sequel rounds-out the Top Five with $3.7 million, a total $106.7 million over six weeks.

CANDYMAN proves to sweet to resist to Moviegoers, taking top spot at the Box Office this weekend. The Sequel to the 1992 Horror brought-in a healthy $22.3 million for Universal Pictures, from 3,569 theatres. The second Feature by Nia DaCosta gets 85% on the Tomatometer.

In second spot is FREE GUY with $13.5 million from 3,940 theatres for 20th Century Studios. Over three weeks, the Action-Fantasy-Comedy starring Ryan Reynolds has brought in $79.3 million domestically in North America.

Landing in third is PAW PATROL: THE MOVIE with $6.6 million in its second week out for Paramount/Elevation Pictures. Thus far it has grossed $24 million.

Disney’s JUNGLE CRUISE is in fourth with $5 million in its fifth week out, just crossing $100 million.

DON’T BREATHE 2 rounds-out to the Top Five with $2.8 million for Sony Pictures, a total $24.6 million in three weeks.

Wildly-popular, err… should we say paw-pular, Animated Series PAW PATROL gets the big screen treatment and its young fans around the globe can’t seem to wait! The Red Carpet was rolled-out this morning at Toronto’s Scotiabank Theatre as the Canadian Cast, Creators and Crew of the Series, celebrated the upcoming release of PAW PATROL: THE MOVIE. The star-studded Feature directed by Toronto’s own Cal Brunker, sees the beloved pups band together to go head-to-head against Mayor Humdinger, who could well destroy Adventure City. The fact that several of the A-List names who voice the Film signed-on because their own families are fans of Paw Patrol, is a testament to its power.

The Franchise is loved internationally, a true testament to this being a true Canadian success story with its foundations rooted deeply in our country, produced by Canada’s Spin Master.

Paw Patrol truly is a Canadian success story, winning fans all around the world since its debut in 2013. Upcoming Feature PAW PATROL: THE MOVIE proudly sports its Canadian colours on the international stage as it sees an upcoming release in theatres. The star-studded Film directed and co-written by Cal Brunker, showcases our own homegrown talent, while also featuring the voices of Hollywood A-Listers like Tyler Perry, Jimmy Kimmel, Kim Kardashian-West, Yara Shahidi, Dax Sheppard, Randall Park and more.

The Film sees the adored pups going head-to-head fighting for what’s right against their arch-enemy Mayor Humdinger, as he gains power in Adventure City, threatening to destroy the metropolis.

We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to chat with Toronto’s Brunker, whose work includes Despicable Me, Horton Hears a Who! Ice Age: Continental Drift, Minions and more. PAW PATROL: THE MOVIE sees him team-up with among others, his longtime partner Bob Barlen, whom he co-wrote the Script with.

Brunker tells us about the Film’s proud Canadian attachments.

Brunker: Oftentime, these bigger movies get outsourced and made in America. For us it felt like something we could really be proud of. Not only is the Movie made here, it’s a Show and a Brand that’s loved around the world that really is a Canadian success story. For us it’s a really exciting moment premiering this Movie here in Toronto this Saturday.

We ask him why he thinks this Franchise has connected so much with this next generation.

Brunker: It’s familiar and it’s got these great characters that they love. I’ve got a three-year-old and a six-year-old and we’re constantly watching this stuff at home. I always watch them watching it and see they’ve each got their favourite pups and I think that’s why people keep going back to it over and over.

The Film features a roster of A-List Voice Talent. Brunker tells about getting names like Tyler Perry, Jimmy Kimmel and Kim Kardashian West involved.

Brunker: One of the things that made it a wonderful casting experience is a lot of them have kids that watch Paw Patrol, and they wanted to be superstars to their kids. I know Tyler’s son is huge fan and Jimmy‘s little one he jokes about on his show. We’re aware of those people who already are in the Paw Patrol world in their own lives with their families. We reached out and the response was wonderful.

In terms of working with them, most of it was done over Zoom ,which is a first for me. Normally you’re with the Actors and it’s easier to play around with them when they’re in the same room. They were all absolutely wonderful. We just took as much time as it needed over Zoom, improvised and tried to different things and built the characters like that.

He tells us about what he hopes the audience will take away from PAW PATROL: THE MOVIE.

Brunker: The Movie is about overcoming one’s fears. That’s the main emotional story in the Film. It seems like the type of theme that will really resonate as we have been dealing with fear the past year and a half. The Film is really coming out at the right time. And hope it will connect to kids and families alike.
