CANDYMAN proves to sweet to resist to Moviegoers, taking top spot at the Box Office this weekend. The Sequel to the 1992 Horror brought-in a healthy $22.3 million for Universal Pictures, from 3,569 theatres. The second Feature by Nia DaCosta gets 85% on the Tomatometer.
In second spot is FREE GUY with $13.5 million from 3,940 theatres for 20th Century Studios. Over three weeks, the Action-Fantasy-Comedy starring Ryan Reynolds has brought in $79.3 million domestically in North America.
Landing in third is PAW PATROL: THE MOVIE with $6.6 million in its second week out for Paramount/Elevation Pictures. Thus far it has grossed $24 million.
Disney’s JUNGLE CRUISE is in fourth with $5 million in its fifth week out, just crossing $100 million.
DON’T BREATHE 2 rounds-out to the Top Five with $2.8 million for Sony Pictures, a total $24.6 million in three weeks.
The best things in life are free! At the Box Office too! FREE GUY takes the top spot in its opening at the Box Office this weekend with a $26 million opening from 4,164 theatres for 20th Century Studios. The Fantasy-Action-Comedy starring Ryan Reynolds, gets a solid 82% on the Tomatometer.
In second spot is DON’T BREATHE 2 with $10.1 million for Sony Pictures. The Horror follows on the success of its Predecessor which in August 2016 opened at top spot. This Sequel gets 52% on the Tomatometer.
RESPECT debuts in third with $9 million from 3,207 theatres for Universal Pictures/MGM. The Aretha Franklin Biopic starring Jennifer Hudson gets 63% on the Tomatometer.
Disney’s JUNGLE CRUISE lands in fourth this weekend with $8.9 million from 3,900 theatres, a three week total of $88.1 million domestically.
THE SUICIDE SQUAD rounds-out the Top Five with $8.1 million from 4,019 theatres for Warner Bros., a two week run of $43.2 million.
For the second week in a row, Sony Pictures Horror DON’T BREATHE takes the top of the Box Office with $15.3 million from 3,051 theatres. It has made $52 million already.
SUICIDE SQUAD once again is in second with $9.9 million for Warner Bros., just surpassing $300 million in North America.
PETE’S DRAGON is in third with $6.6 million for Disney, now earning $66.8 million over four weeks.
HELL OR HIGH WATER expands to 1,303 theatres for VVS Films/Lionsgate Films in sixth with $4.8 million. It has earned $16.4 million in four weeks.
THE LIGHT BETWEEN OCEANS opens in eighth with $4.8 million for Disney from 1,500 theatres. It gets a B+ CinemaScore and a 61% on the Tomatometer.
JASON BOURNE rounds out the Top Ten with $4.2 million for Universal Pictures, earning $156 million in six weeks.
Surpassing all expectations at number one this weekend is Warner Bros. Horror, DON’T BREATHE with $22.4 million for Sony Pictures, from 3,051 theatres. It gets an outstanding 87% on the Tomatometer from Critics and a B+ CinemaScore from Audiences. It was made for only $9.9 million.
SUICIDE SQUAD slips to second in its fourth week out with $$11.5 million for Warner Bros. from 3,582 theatres. Thus far in North America it has grossed $282 million.
In third is KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS with $7.2 million for eOne/Focus Features, a two-week tally of $24.1 million.
In fourth is SAUSAGE PARTY with $7.1 million for Sony Pictures in its third week out. It is about the surpass $80 million domestically.
MECHANIC: RESURRECTION debuts in sixth with $6.8 million for VVS Films/Lionsgate Films. Critics gave this latest installment in the Jason Statham franchise a 25% on the Tomatometer, while Audiences were much more forgiving with a B+ CinemaScore.
Rounding-out the Top Ten is BEN-HUR with $4.4 million for Paramount Pictures. It is about to surpass the $20 million-mark domestically in its second week out.
