Review by Amanda Gilmore for Mr. Will Wong
The Tale tells the true story of Jennifer Fox (Laura Dern) whose mother gives her a story she wrote as a child, which forces her to re-examine everything she thought about her first sexual experience.
Writer-Director Fox controls her own powerful story and never shies away from the cruelty she encountered. This is a beautiful and important Film that Fox shares bravely with the world. This is a timely Film about the lies we tell ourselves in order to move on and the harsh realities we face when coming to terms with the truth. Dern is at her best playing the self-investigating Fox. Jason Ritter is in a career changing-performance as the manipulative offender, Bill. Elizabeth Debicki is mysterious as the mistrusted Mrs. G. While the young and remarkably-talented Isabelle Nelisse commands the screen as the childhood Jenny.
The Tale screens at Sundance on Jan. 20 at 12:15PM at Eccles PC, Jan. 21 at 9:30PM at Redstone 1 PC, Jan. 25 at 6PM at SLC Library, Jan. 26 at 8:30PM at Prospector PC, and Jan. 27 at 9AM at PC Library.
We’ve been to New York City many times but never for #TVWeek and are we ever glad we did! Stars flocked to the cosmopolitan mecca this week to present the upcoming 2017-2018 programming lineups on behalf of their respective networks. Known also as the Upfronts, major networks like NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, CW and several more this past week announced upcoming cancellations, renewals and brand-new Series coming to their programming slates.
The star power was explosive and several faces, familiar and new graced the Big Apple. While we were only able to stay for the first part of #TVWeek, we are thrilled at the caliber of talent we saw and met! I mean, Toronto hosts the Canadian Upfronts in early June which also is exciting, but this was another level!

TIFF ’16 officially has begun and as the stars begin to make their way into the City, Team Mr. Will has begun spotting them! We’re off to a bit of a shaky start, but expect us back in top form again by the weekend! While the Opening Night Gala, The Magnificent Seven took place both at Princess of Wales Theatre and Roy Thomson Hall including the likes of Denzel Washington, Ethan Hawke and Chris Pratt, recent Oscar winner Brie Larson, Sharlto Copley and more kicked-off the Midnight Madness Programme at Ryerson Theatre with the Premiere for Free Fire!
While these bigger marquee names graced the Red Carpets, Team Mr. Will spotted these names quietly rolling into town for the festivities on Day 1.

Mr. Will and levelFILM want you to win on DVD, a copy of the complex and resonant ABOUT ALEX!
Synopsis:
The twenty-something centric dramedy boasts a stellar cast of young stars including Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation), Max Greenfield (New Girl), Jason Ritter (Parenthood), Maggie Grace (Taken, Lost), Jane Levy (Suburgatory), Max Minghella (The Social Network) and Nate Parker (Non-Stop).
Hailed by CinemaBlend as “The Big Chill for Millennials“, About Alex is the story of seven college friends who reunite over a three-day weekend, after one of them has an emotional breakdown. When the friends get together to keep an eye on Alex (Ritter), the weekend that ensues will renew old crushes and resentments, shine light on bad decisions, and ultimately push friendships and relationships to the brink as the group tries to speculate when the simple life of their college years turned so muddy and complex.
The sometimes irreverent, sometimes poetic, and always moving, About Alex is the first feature film from writer/director Jesse Zwick and is an honest look at the changing nature of adult friendship in the Facebook/Twitter generation.
