Hollywood Suite is celebrating the career of Canadian Filmmaking icon Norman Jewison later this month, November 19-21, 2021. His Films have garnered home 12 Oscars and six of his films can be seen again!
The celebration will kick off on November 19, 2021 with The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming (1966) at 9pm ET, followed by 1967’s groundbreaking In The Heat of The Night starring Sidney Poitier at 11:10pm ET, both on Hollywood Suite’s 70s channel.
On November 20 at 9pm ET, Hollywood Suite’s 80s channel will feature Best Friends (1982), starring Burt Reynolds and Goldie Hawn, followed by A Soldier’s Story (1984)at 10:55pm. You can catch Cher’s Oscar-winning performance in 1987’s Moonstruck at 9pm ET on November 21 on Hollywood Suite’s 80s channel before hopping over to the 90s channel at 10:45pm ET to be swept away in the 1994 romance Only You, which stars Robert Downey Jr. and Marisa Tomei.

Hollywood Suite will be honouring the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. A special selection of programming centering on Indigenous stories will be available on the 2000s channel.

Programming begins on September 29 with the premiere of Darlene Naponse’s award-winning film Falls Around Her (2018), following a world-famous Anishinaabe musician (Tantoo Cardinal) who leaves everything behind to return to her reservation to live alone. September 30 kicks off with Indian Horse (2017) an adaptation of Ojibway writer Richard Wagamese’s award-winning novel, which sheds light on the dark history of Indigenous Residential Schools; Stream Me (2020) which explores the story of a teenage girl from rural Nova Scotia who overcomes her insecurities by thriving in the world of online streaming, and After The Last River (2015) which documents a remote community which lurches from crisis to crisis as their homeland transforms into a modern frontier.
The full day of programming also includes The Incredible 25th Year of Mitzi Bearclaw (2019), chronicling a woman who reluctantly returns to her isolated reserve to help her father care for her bitter mother; writer-director Jeff Barnaby’s Canadian Screen Award-nominated film Rhymes for Young Ghouls (2013); and Atanarjuat (2001), which sees an Inuit legend of an evil spirit causing strife in a community. In addition to this broadcast lineup, viewers can revisit Shirley Cheechoo’s stirring feature Bearwalker (2001) on demand in both September and October.
Hollywood Suite will also air two specials: Every Child Matters: Reconciliation Through Education (2020) on September 30 and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (in partnership with APTN, CBC/Radio-Canada, Insight Productions and Canadian Heritage) on October 1.

David Cronenberg stars in S4 of SLASHER: FLESH & BLOOD which will air exclusively in Canada on Hollywood Suite. Hollywood Suite has announced today that they will be the home of RELENTLESS: THE KEVIN PARTER STORY, the four-part Docu-Series by Ryan Mains about a 40-something paramedic who embarked on a career in professional hockey.
Relentless: The Kevin Porter Story will air with two back-to-back episodes on September 21 beginning at 9pm ET, followed by the final two episodes on September 28 at 9pm ET. The whole series will be available on Hollywood Suite On Demand starting September 1.
Relentless: The Kevin Porter Story was produced and directed by Ryan Mains, who also served as Director of Photography and co-wrote the series with Derek Raby. It was executive produced by David Kines and Julie Kumaria.
CNN Originals Docu-Series THE MOVIES, with Tom Hanks serving as Executive Producer, arrives next month on Hollywood Suite! Split by era over six episodes, the Series gives an in-depth look at the movies that defined the decade and influenced a generation. There will be star-studded interviews as well.

STAGED Season 2 arrives next month on Hollywood Suite, the acclaimed BBC One Series filmed during the pandemic, starring Michael Sheen and David Tennant playing fictionalized versions of themselves.
Synopsis:
Season 2 follows the “real” Michael Sheen (The Queen) and David Tennant (Doctor Who) following the success of the first season of Staged. Simon Evans (portrayed by creator… Simon Evans) begins work on an American remake of the first series, but the stars are not asked to reprise their roles. Whoopi Goldberg joins the cast as Michael and David’s agent and Ben Schwartz as her assistant.
This eight-part, half-hour series was filmed entirely during the COVID-19 pandemic and features guest appearances by Simon Pegg, Christoph Waltz, Ewan McGregor, Ken Jeong, Jim Parsons, and Josh Gad. Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Cate Blanchett.
The first four episodes of Staged Season 2 will premiere July 20 starting at 9pm ET, with the last four episodes following on July 27 at 9pm ET. Viewers can catch up on Season 1 now On Demand.

Hollywood Suite is pleased to announce a partnership with Women in Film & Television Toronto (WIFT Toronto) to launch the WIFT Indigenous Writers Program.
The free, intensive four-day program will include two full-time mentors, industry guest speakers, case studies, writing and pitching workshops, and peer-to-peer mentorship. By engaging key partners including industry leaders, experienced creators, writers, broadcasters, funders and more, the program aims to bring the best education and career opportunities to Indigenous creators whose stories need to be heard.
The application portal will open on August 9, 2021, and all WIFT Toronto members who are First Nations, Métis, or Inuit are encouraged to apply. Applicants who are First Nations, Métis, or Inuit who do not currently have a WIFT Toronto membership may still apply. Anyone chosen for the program that is not a member will be granted a one-year complimentary membership thanks to donations made to the Foundation for WIFT Toronto.
