Following the popularity and positive reviews of Season One, Netflix’s GINNY & GEORGIA is about to return for a second season. Bringing back many of the same elements we loved about the first season of this Greater Toronto Area-filmed series, the stakes are upped here as Georgia (Brianne Howey) continues to ruffle feathers, seeking to gain acceptance in Wellsbury, yet at once not giving a care what others think. And Ginny (Antonia Gentry) continues uncovering some disagreeable things in the name of surviving and supporting her kids.
When a Series is looking to push boundaries and approach “real topics”, it is bound to cause a bit of controversy. One thing we admire about this second season is its bravery exploring Ginny‘s mental health struggles as she copes with her challenging mother and her relationship with the town’s mayor, Paul (Scott Porter). At once, Ginny is trying to navigate her relationship with Marcus (Felix Mallard), more than ever before leaning-on her biological father Zion (Nathan Mitchell) for support when her mother is impossible. Gentry really does some commendable work decliately exploring Ginny‘s battles and sexual awakening.
Howey continues to excel, drawing us into Georgia’s world. On one hand we kinda want Child Protective Services to nail her, but the compassion in which she brings here makes us want to root for her and get away with some of the unforgivable things she’s done.
Toronto’s Sara Waisglass also is just fantastic in the supporting role of Max, Ginny‘s best friend and sister of her love interest Marcus. She’s a scene-stealer whose energy provides this deeper, darker second season a much-needed lift in spirits.
We enjoyed the first season of this Series, but found ourselves more invested than ever in this second season. Things get tangled and messy and what fun it be if it weren’t? The wait has been more than worthwhile and we foresee more seasons to come after this solid follow-up.
The second season of GINNY & GEORGIA arrives January 5, 2023 on Netflix.
After beginning production in its second season last November, Netflix’s hit series GINNY & GEORGIA is about to wrap. Filming made its way to Cobourg’s downtown district as the final episode of the second season filmed in the small town, an hour east of Toronto.
The Series centers on a free-spirited single mother Georgia (Brianne Howey) and her mature teen daughter Ginny (Antonia Gentry) as they navigate their new life in New England together, trying to fit in while having to confront their past. Without giving too much away, fans can expect a bit of explosive finale where Georgia has to pay the price for her actions. And there is a wedding! With a horse and carriage!
The first season of the Series which premiered February 2021 during the Pandemic reached a stellar 52 million subscribers, making for an undisputed demand for a second season. And if the Series’ continued popularity, propelled by its presence on TikTok, is any indicator, a third season should be on its way. Or there will be an outcry!
We’ll have to wait to see what happens exactly in this second season, but here are a couple snaps from the day as Howey and Gentry filmed outdoors, both looking smashing!! Bridalicious! These cellphone snaps don’t do them justice but their makeup looked incredible.
beanie and I were so lucky to get a snap with stars Sara Waisglass who plays Ginny‘s BFF Maxine, and Gentry herself as they were waiting to begin filming! How exciting! Cannot wait for this new season!

We’re lucky to have even have had the chance to partake in any star-spotting this year given the circumstances we’ve been in! And even though what we got was a reduced version of TIFF ’21 this year, we’re still thrilled that talent still came through, while production on various Series and Films also continued around town this year. And as always we’re happy to go as close as the talent want to get, ensuring safety first. One day we’ll look back and call this our “Masked Era”.
While this is only a fraction of the quantity of star sightings we’ve had in the past, we did our best to do what we do safely. Some exciting names still passed through Toronto in 2021 and we were there!
I’d have to say it was epic that Toronto’s Simu Liu exploded onto the international stage as a mega star for his work in Marvel Studios’ SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS. Not only was it amazing catching-up in person – he actually remembered my name – we also got a quick interview with him! Other names like Rebecca Ferguson, whom we’ve admire for quite a while, came through for TIFF ’21 and we’re glad we finally got to meet her properly! And when do we not get excited to see Jessica Chastain in-town? One of our highlights was getting a Selfie with Mila Kunis, whom we love, together with beanie bright and early in the AM? While concerts were scaled back quite a bit this year, we’re happy to have met some emerging names on the international scene who actually happen to be Canadian, like Mustafa the Poet and BBNo$! And how cool was it that hot off his venture into space, earning him the distinction of oldest person ever to go to space, William Shatner came to Toronto for Fan Expo Limited Edition?
Let’s take a walk down memory lane!
See some of our favourite star sightings of 2021, in no particular order!
While we will wait a bit for these case counts to go down, we look forward to Toronto being the star-studded City it once was once again!

Success definitely didn’t just come overnight for Brianne Howey. The L.A.-based Actress found widespread recognition for her work as Georgia in Netflix‘s GINNY & GEORGIA, which was released during the Pandemic to a staggering 52 million subscribers viewing its first season quickly after its debut. Before this, she continued to build a reputation as a working Actress starring in series like The Exorcist, Batwoman, Scream Queens and more!
It was just announced that season two will soon begin production in and around the Greater Toronto Area, with a tentative wrap date in April 2022. This season continues to follow the story of a firecracker 30-something mother (Howey) and her wise-beyond-her-years teenage daughter (Antonia Gentry), whom she continues to learn lessons from as they navigate their new life together in New England.
We are so thrilled that Howey is back in Toronto! Ginny & Georgia is one of those shows we discovered on Netflix and couldn’t believe we didn’t know was filming in the City! We’re so incredibly lucky and can’t wait to see this new season, which fans have been eager for!
Howey is just as lovely as we’d imagined, stopping to chat and thank us for our support, and even took a couple snaps with us. She’s so warm and sweet, and we hope she brought some winter clothes as this certainly isn’t L.A. weather we’re having!
