#REVIEW: “FRANK MILLER’S SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR”
Review by David Baldwin for Mr. Will Wong
Nine years ago, Robert Rodriguez and original Graphic Novel Writer Frank Miller unleashed Sin City: an Anthology of stories filled to the brim with booze, broads, bullets, gore, misogyny, and testosterone-filled monologues. There was always talk of a Sequel to this odd yet spectacularly cool Film, but months passed to years and most of us probably thought it would never happen. But it finally has, and the results are better than I ever could have ...

#REVIEW: “ARE YOU HERE”
Review by Justin Waldman for Mr. Will Wong
Director Matthew Weiner is known for writing and directing heavier matter like Mad Men and The Sopranos, so it comes as no shock that his first feature Film veers towards the dark. The most surprising thing about Are You Here though is its choice of casting a comedic Ensemble despite its serious tone. Despite a bit of unevenness, its meaningful Storyline manages to guide us from beginning to end.
The Movie centers on Siblings Terri Baker (Amy ...

#REVIEW: “THE EXPENDABLES 3”
Review by Jonathan Godfrey for Mr. Will Wong
The Expendables 3 is evidence that a Sequel can surpass its Predecessors. Though the first two Films did an excellent job establishing the Motley Crew, it is the latest Instalment that makes the most out of the mix. And the mix is more eclectic than ever before.
Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Statham, Lundgren, Li, Couture and Crews are back reprising their roles as mercenaries with oddball handles (e.g. Christmas, Trench and Toll Road). But there's ...

#REVIEW: “THE GIVER”
Review by Justin Waldman for Mr. Will Wong
Adapting Lois Lowry's The Giver appears a daunting task considering its massive Fanbase and a large amount of ground to cover. I have never read the Book, but with that being said, it is uncertain just how Fans of the Book might react to the upcoming take by Director Phillip Noyce (Salt). Aside from issues with pacing, The Giver's saving graces are two standout performances by its two Male Leads.
The Movie is set in a world without emotion, ...

#REVIEW: “BACKCOUNTRY”
Review by Justin Waldman for Mr. Will Wong
For first-time Feature Writer/Director and Rookie Blue Star Adam Macdonald, partnering with Missy Peregrym, also from that popular Series, seemed like an obvious choice in Backcountry. As far as suspense Drama/Horror Films go, the Film is a welcome addition in the saturated Genre.
Backcountry centers on Jen (Peregrym) and Alex (Jeff Roup) as they embark on an adventure through the Ontario Wilderness. Jen being clearly addicted to her phone feels ...

#REVIEW: “THE TRIP TO ITALY”
Fans of 2010's The Trip will rejoice about The Trip to Italy, likewise an edited Film version of Michael Winterbottom's acclaimed British TV Series starring Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon. We catch up with the famous Friends as they head on a roadtrip which takes them from Liguaria to Naples to Rome and ultimately the captivating Capri, where Coogan's on-screen Son Joe (Timothy Leach) joins the two. Like before, the Duo play a semi-fictionalized version of themselves.
What makes The Trip to ...

#REVIEW: “INTO THE STORM”
Review by Justin Waldman for Mr. Will Wong
Films like Into The Storm seem to be second nature for Director Steven Quale whose last outing, Final Destination 5, was another extremely entertaining work of ridiculous exhaustion. For a Film like Into The Storm, the level of entertainment is key and thankfully Quale and Screenwriter John Swetnam deliver an absurd amount of entertainment and suspense in their 90-minute Tornado-Thriller.
The Movie opens by introducing itself as a Documentary-style ...

#REVIEW: “CAVALRY”
Review by David Baldwin for Mr. Will Wong
I loved each and every minute of Writer/Director John Michael McDonagh’s debut Feature, The Guard. It was an unconventional Comedy, but it was a blast from start to finish. When I started reading about his follow-up, Calvary, I was instantly intrigued. But lightning does not always strike twice.
Father James Lavelle (Brendan Gleeson) is a good, maybe even great Priest. But after a particularly disturbing confession by a mysterious Parishioner, ...

#REVIEW: “TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES”
Review by David Baldwin for Mr. Will Wong
One of my obsessions as a child of the early 1990s was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I loved the Movies, watched the original 1987 TV Series religiously, had many of the toys and played the Arcade Game on my NES for hours on-end. My favourite Character was Michelangelo because he was just an awesome Dude. While the Movies have had trouble standing the test of time (watch The Secret of the Ooze again and see if anything other than the Ninja Rap holds ...
