The Duo then head upstate for ten days to gather inspiration for the Script, only to be distracted by a beautiful pair of Ladies, Ava (Isabelle) and Gigi (Marisa Tomei). #REVIEW: “CHAPPIE”
Review by Jon Godfrey for Mr. Will Wong
Born in Johannesburg, Neill Blomkamp immigrated to Canada in 1997. Here he honed his cinematic skill set, and in 2009, unleashed District 9 on the world. Therein he established his style: low-tech Sci-Fi set in the Johannesburg of an alternate reality. He also opened up his discussion of sentience, the value of life, and the root of existence.
These philosophical subjects are also the heart of Blomkamp’s latest Film, Chappie. Set in yet another ...

#REVIEW: “UNFINISHED BUSINESS”
Review by David Baldwin for Mr. Will Wong
“Vince Vaughn still makes Movies?” My friend asked me that after I told him I was reviewing Unfinished Business, Vaughn’s new Comedy. He has had a few Movies come out over the past few years, including Delivery Man, his first team-up with Business Director Ken Scott (who adapted that Film from his own French-Canadian original). But Vaughn has mostly flown under the radar, never quite matching the Films that made him so popular in the ...

#REVIEW: “THE INTRUDERS”
Review by Justin Waldman for Mr. Will Wong
For new directing/writing Duo Adam Massey and Jason Juravic, their VOD Horror Offering The Intruders leaves much to be desired. iCarly Star Miranda Cosgrove breaks from the Teen Star mould to mixed results. The Story has much potential, but decidedly veers in favour of standard fare.
The Movie focuses on Rose (Miranda Cosgrove) and her Father Jerry (Donal Logue) as they move to a new Town after the passing of Rose’s Mother. As the ...

#REVIEW: “THE SECOND BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL”
Review by George Kozera for Mr. Will Wong
I approach Sequels much the same way I do when attending a High School Reunion – a mixture of excitement combined with fear and dread. Will I be stuck at the table where all the stories are boringly repetitious (“You went where and got hungover again?” “You mean, they kidnapped your daughter again?” “Wow! You moved to the Bahamas and the great white shark followed you there?”). Or will I be seated at the table with old Friends who have ...

#REVIEW: “KIDNAPPING MR. HEINEKEN”
Review by Justin Waldman for Mr. Will Wong
Daniel Alfredson certainly is no stranger to us having directed The Girl Who Plays with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest. His latest is Kidnapping Mr. Heineken, which is based on the True Story of the kidnapping of Freddy Heineken, Heir to the Brewing Empire. The Story here actually is quite remarkable ad while this Film at times that same level of fascination, the Ensemble here do an outstanding job.
The Story starts-off 1982 ...

#REVIEW: “THE LAZARUS EFFECT”
Review by Jonathan Godfrey for Mr. Will Wong
Jason Blum is the Founder and CEO of Blumhouse Productions. A House that Paranormal Activity helped solidify and expand upon; a house built with the bricks of low-budget-high-return Horror Movies. Titles like Sinister, Insidious, and The Purge come to mind. Creative endeavours that terrified Viewers and rewarded their cCreators with Fans and fortunes.
The Lazarus Effect is the latest addition in this illustrious Line. It stars Olivia Wilde, Mark ...

#REVIEW: “PLAYING IT COOL”
Formerly titled Love is a Many Splintered Thing, Playing it Cool brings to life a promising Black List-named Screenplay by Chris Schafer and Paul Vicknair. Centering on a Screenwriter known in the Story as the Narrator (Chris Evans) who prefers writing Action, though tasked by his Publisher (Anthony Mackie) with writing a Romance, we witness him become the Story's Romantic Lead. Himself a Disbeliever in love, he finds himself drawn helplessly to a beautiful Woman simply known as Her ...

#REVIEW: “HOT TUB TIME MACHINE 2”
Review by David Baldwin for Mr. Will Wong
I loved Hot Tub Time Machine when I first saw it. While the title and premise are utterly ridiculous, the casting of John Cusack, Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson and Clark Duke was inspired and hysterical. The Film should not have worked, but it had a certain charm and never once took itself seriously. But then, could a Film about a group of Friends traveling back in time using a Hot Tub be anything other than ludicrous?
While the ending of the first ...

#REVIEW: “MCFARLAND”
Review by George Kozera for Mr. Will Wong
Last year, Disney had a hit with both the critics and the moviegoers alike; Million Dollar Arm was an underdog Sports Movie based on a true story that I found very entertaining. Hoping for the same or greater success with a similar thematic premise, Disney has released McFarland. The result? It’s a Winner!
Kevin Costner plays Jim White, a High School Football Coach who has difficulties holding onto jobs due to anger management issues. Fired ...
