Review by Justin Waldman for Mr. Will Wong
Every Film Festival deserves a Movie that relieves of the tension and seriousness of Festival Movies, and delivers outrageous amounts of laughter and joy to no end. These types of Movies are highly recommended as a way to escape the more emotionally-driven Movies. Thankfully, Teen Lust delivers just that and even more as it proves to be the combination of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Superbad. Teen Lust focuses on Neil (Jesse Carere) and his Best Friend played by Daryl Sabara as they embark on the Adventure of a lifetime.
As both of their families are part of a satanic Cult, Neil was told he must remain a Virgin for religious reasons. Wanting to obey his Parents he never questioned why and went along with it. On the night of his eighteenth birthday he discovers that he is being used as a Virgin sacrifice. He escapes the ceremony and has one night to lose his virginity or he will be killed and Jesus will not return to earth.
Teen Lust is as far-fetched and ridiculous as the Movie makes itself out to be, but it is also its strongest suit. It is funny start to finish. Teen Lust is the most fun you will have at TIFF ’14.
Teen Lust screens Wednesday, September 10, 2014 7:45 PM at The Bloor Hot Docs Cinema and Friday, September 12, 2014 3:00 PM at Scotiabank Theatre 3.
