The ’90s were dominated by Supermodels and none were more prolific than Cindy Crawford. Expanding her portfolio to include activism, writing and acting, Crawford‘s influence still can be felt to this day in the mainstream eye. Her Cindy Crawford Home Collection is available exclusively in Canada at The Brick, her stylish couches made of top-grain Italian leather, linen-like fabrics or leather-like upholstery. While the retailer is known for its accessibility, her name attached to the brand certainly gives it a stylish lift.
While she has been known to vacation out this way with her family, the Icon was in Toronto to celebrate her Collection’s tenth anniversary in Canada. Appearing at The Brick‘s Mississauga Superstore, fans got a rare chance to meet still stunning Crawford. While her time was limited, she arrived punctually taking her time generously chatting with fans and posing for photos with their families and personalizing memorabilia. As the event approached an end with several fans still left in line, the tempo picked-up as she did her best to accommodate as many as possible, staying 40 minutes past schedule.
Crawford has been back in the public eye much of late with her 16-year-old daughter Kaia Gerber following in her mom’s footsteps. Gerber just made her big debut at Calvin Klein‘s show at New York Fashion Week. 18-year-old son Presley also is a model.

Despite high hopes, BLADE RUNNER 2049 musters a $32 million opening for Warner Bros. from 4,058 theatres. Made for $150 million, this Sci-Fi Blockbuster starring Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling came with much mystery and restrictions to Media who were given specific criteria they could and could not divulge in reviews about the Film. The latest effort from Canadian visionary Denis Villeneuve still gets an 89% on the Tomatometer and a solid A- CinemaScore. At one point, projections pegged it to open in the neighbourhood of $50 million. What went wrong, we wonder?
MY LITTLE PONY: THE MOVIE opens in second with $10.4 million for eOne Films/Lionsgate Films from 2,528 theatres. Earning 57% on the Tomatometer from Critics, the Film gets a much better A- CinemaScore from Audiences.
Opening in third is TIFF ’17 selection THE MOUNTAIN BETWEEN US starring Kate Winslet and Idris Elba. The Disaster-Romance opens with $10 million for 20th Century Fox from 3,088 theatres. It gets 46% from Critics on the Tomatometer but an A- CinemaScore.
IT slips to fourth with $9.2 million for Warner Bros. in its fifth week out. In its domestic run to date, it has grossed an outstanding $304 million already.
VICTORIA & ABDUL, another TIFF ’17 selection, climbs to eighth spot with $4 million for Universal Pictures/Focus Features, expanding to 732 theatres in its third week out. There is lots of Oscar buzz for Dame Judi Dench‘s reprisal of Queen Victoria here.
BATTLE OF THE SEXES, which also premiered at TIFF ’17 in September, rounds-out the Top Ten, expanding to 1,822 theatres for Fox Searchlight, making $2.4 million this weekend, a total $7.7 million over three weeks. Synopsis:
Warm, winning, and gloriously alive, Sean Baker’s The Florida Project is a deeply moving and unforgettably poignant look at childhood. Set on a stretch of highway just outside the imagined utopia of Disney World, The Florida Project follows six-year-old Moonee (Brooklynn Prince in a stunning breakout turn) and her rebellious mother Halley (Bria Vinaite, another major discovery) over the course of a single summer. The two live week to week at “The Magic Castle,” a budget motel managed by Bobby (a career-best Willem Dafoe), whose stern exterior hides a deep reservoir of kindness and compassion. Despite her harsh surroundings, the precocious and ebullient Moonee has no trouble making each day a celebration of life, her endless afternoons overflowing with mischief and grand adventure as she and her ragtag playmates—including Jancey, a new arrival to the area who quickly becomes Moonee’s best friend—fearlessly explore the utterly unique world into which they’ve been thrown. Unbeknownst to Moonee, however, her delicate fantasy is supported by the toil and sacrifice of Halley, who is forced to explore increasingly dangerous possibilities in order to provide for her daughter.

Prince Harry continues to make the rounds in support of his Invictus Games and attended a Reception with several athletes at famed landmark the CN Tower tonight. The Royal last visited the venue as a child in 1991. Fans lined barricades set-up from Bremner Boulevard to the Tower’s entrance hoping for a glimpse of him.
Arriving shortly before 7:30 PM EST after a busy day of golf St. George’s Golf Club and watching Cycling at High Park, Prince Harry took his time shaking hands with Torontonians and reminding to support the Games. While selective whom he took photos with, insisting that others take the photo versus a Selfie, Harry was more than kind to engage despite being in a rush to head off to his next appearance at Mattamy Athletic Centre. Unfortunately, no sign of potential Princess Meghan Markle tonight.
Despite rushed, we got in a quick hello with the Prince as he walked the line!
