By George Kozera and Mr. Will Wong
Since the smash 2001 success of SUPER TROOPERS, Fans of the Broken Lizard Comedy Group have long been waiting on a follow-up. In Toronto to promote the anticipated Cult Hit Sequel were the men behind the laughs. Our George Kozera had the pleasure of chatting with Stars and Writers of SUPER TROOPERS 2 (directed by the Group’s Jay Chandrasekhar) including Erik Stolhanske (Rabbit), Paul Soter (Carl Foster) and Steve Lemme (Mac).
When a border dispute arises between the U.S. and Canada, our hapless heroes are called back to duty to patrol the disputed area (ironically, it’s in Quebec, notoriously accommodating to all things Anglophone!) You don’t have to be familiar with the original Movie as this sequel is fast and furious with laughter. We watch the five Americans try to make sense of the Canadian way of life…co-ed strip bars and a comprehensive health plan…a battle of “quien es mas macho” occurs, harvesting comic gold.
SUPER TROOPERS 2 not only throws jokes and gags at a frenetic pace, the celebrity camero are equally abundant. Rob Lowe, Lynda Carter, Jim Gaffigan and Fred Savage representing the red, white and blue, while Emmanuelle Chriqui, Will Sasso (brilliantly impersonating the vocal stylings of former Prime Minister Jean Chrétien), Tyler Labine and Bruce McCulloch as the Canadian contingent.
George chats with Stolhanske, Soter and Soter about the differences between screening this Film for Canadian vs. American audience, the decision to release the Film on a day synonymous with Cannabis Culture and also some of the exciting said cameos. Is it safe to say the Trio are obsessed with MRWILLWONG.COM?

Despite what many feel about her political views, Roseanne Barr undeniably is an American icon. The Funnywoman would change the face of Television with her eponymous 14-time Golden Globe and 17-time Emmy-nominated Series ROSEANNE, which defined much of our growing-up in the ’90s. Barr‘s character – a strong, working-class, domestic goddess of a Matriarch – was refreshing and still is a breath of fresh air.
With twenty years having passed between the Series’ ninth and tenth seasons, audiences cannot get enough of The Conners with a record-breaking 27.3 million viewers tuning-in to the latter’s Premiere in March. ROSEANNE has never shied controversy tackling gender norms, class and same-sex relationships and even today continues to push the envelope exploring topics at the center of discussion.
Barr’s brand always has been about being outspoken and provocative and that is what Fans can expect on her current two-week Canadian Stand-Up Tour which kicked-off in Winnipeg and now has made its way to Ontario with stops in Richmond Hill, Burlington, Brampton, Oakville, Guelph and Ottawa scheduled. A show last night in North Bay was cancelled and may be postponed due to inclement weather. Even with the weather being less than ideal, Fans still came out in full force to the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts to see Barr live and the house was packed! And if we can be frank, she’s never looked better!
See for yourself!
While she was rushed out of the Venue following the 70-minute set, she was happy to pose for a couple photos and sign autographs before cutting it off quickly. We’re thrilled. We love Roseanne.
ROSEANNE airs in Canada on CTV Tuesday nights 7:30Â PM ET and an eleventh season just was green-lit based on its smashing performance thus far in its reboot. More here.
