Premiering tonight, Toronto-filmed Anthology Series ACCUSED delivers 15 juicy stories that explore crimes and trials that might not be what they appear on paper. What’s unique about this Series, based on the BBC One Series of the same name, is that it explores the perspective of the accused and really dives into the gray ethnical and moral areas when situations aren’t always so cut and dry.
Given the course of only 45 minutes to build suspense, tension and resolve it all at a proper pacing and an appropriate complexity, ultimately is the Series’ biggest challenge, but tons of recognizable faces and intriguing, electic plotlines are ACCUSED‘s biggest selling point. Names like Abigal Breslin, Whitney Cummings, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Rachel Bilson, Rhea Pealman, Molly Parker and more star and we can’t wait. Furthermore, names like Billy Porter and Marlee Matlin are behind the lens on some of these episodes.
We were able to preview the first episode, SCOTT’S STORY starring Michael Chiklis, Jill Hennessy and Oakes Fegley which looks at a father standing accused of aiding in his son committing a horrible crime at his school. Chiklis stars as Dr. Scott Corbett who sees the signs in his teenage son Hunter (Fegley) that something is wrong, after having been bullied at school. But is his son capable of being a killer or is this just all in his head? A strong episode, hooking the audience onto episodes ahead in coming weeks, and it becomes a psychological Thriller as we wonder if Scott can trust his own son or not.
AVA’S STORY is next in the Series and is directed by Academy Award-winning Marlee Matlin. The story gives a sympathetic look at the impacts of giving-up a child for a surrogate mother, including post-partum depression and being concerned for the baby’s welfare in the hands of its eventual parents. Matlin does a phenomenal job directing this, especially the deaf Actors who are expressive and emotive.
ROBYN’S STORY showcases a tremendous breakout performance by J. Harrison Ghee as a confident Drag Queen on-stage, yet a reserved man out-of-drag. After getting passionately involved with a closeted man, things get dangerous with dire consequences. And did we mention Porter directed this episode?
More here on ACCUSED, which airs in Canada on Global Television. Episodes air Tuesday nights 9 PM ET.

Frank Walker is my worlds – Horse Racing and Entertainment – converging, but most of all, he is a talented Producer and DJ who quickly is seeing a boost in profile, his Music enabling him the ability to trot the globe. The grandson of Magna International founder and Horse Racing powerhouse Frank Stronach, and son of Belinda Stronach and Donald Walker, could have taken a very different path in life as a successor in his family’s business operations, but thankfully he followed his heart and chose Music.
Walker today debuted his new single, “I GO DANCING (ft. Ella Henderson)“. The melodic Dance Bop is a nod to the Electronic Music he loved, growing-up in the early 2010s and one of his biggest influences is Kygo, whom he is set to tour with. The Song is a result of many WhatsApp messages back and forth, both being Artists being on different sides of the Atlantic.
Signed to Sony Music Canada, you actually already know his Music. Trust me. His “Heartbreak Back (ft. Riley Biederer)” still today is played heavily on Top 40 Radio, along with his Juno-nominated “Only When it Rains (ft. Astrid S)”.
Walker played a packed house at ToyBox, his first Toronto show in three years, timed together with the release of his new single. As a warm-up, he played a live set at Z103.5‘s studio, debuting his track to listeners and getting a unanimous vote of 94% from listeners in favour of the tune being added to the station’s rotation.
This was actually my first time ever meeting Walker, or I may have met him and didn’t even know it, though I have met his family and visited the family’s scenic Adena North property many times. A class act, just like his wonderful family and team who work for them!
So excited for him. His success hasn’t been overnight, he has been working for this a long time!

ABOUT THE SERIES

You know how much I adore Netflix‘s BLING EMPIRE, so for the mic to be dropped at the end of Season Three that an upcoming New York-set Series is on the way, left me in agony that there would be a wait for this!
We met Socialite Dorothy Wang in Season Two of the Los Angeles-set branch of the Series. Finally Kane Lim has met his match, and it seems everybody loves him. Dorothy has never cared for his friendship, despite his insistent hopes to win her approval. We were so intrigued by her and now she’s off to begin a new life in New York, single and ready to mingle with a new pool of potential love interests after purchasing a gorgeous new loft apartment in the City. She doesn’t really know anyone here and neither do we! We meet some really interesting new characters to the mix, all well-to-do Socialites including Social Media Fashion Influencer Tina Leung; Tycoon and Model Power Couple Stephen & Deborah Hung; Wellness industry executive Richard Chang and his girlfriend Vika; Jewellery Major Player Lynn Ban and husband Jett Kain; plus also aspiring Actor Blake Abbie.
If you’re looking for dueling Queen Bee energy like the Los Angeles branch of the series, there isn’t so much of that here but there certainly is a bit of drama. For one, the ladies and Blake seem to disapprove of the way Richard treats Vika, medalling in their love life. What this new Series manages to capture well is the bond between this group of friends who in are just getting to know each other and Dororthy is our eyes into this new world, while she too is trying to just fit in and find love herself.
This Series goes a layer deeper exploring some past traumas some of the Cast are copying with and we even witness a panic attack unfold live. The Series seems to hint at some trouble brewing between Lynn and Jett after 26 years together as the latter expresses some interest in wanting to do his own thing after supporting Lynn all these years in her venture. And Blake who prefers to avoid labelling his sexuality, is copying with cultural pressure to continue his family’s legacy, while coping with the loss of his father. So the themes here in this New York spinoff are a bit darker, drawing the audience in further. While it doesn’t have the same shiny veneer its predecessor does, BLING EMPIRE: NEW YORK all the same explores what a combination of privielege and Asian heritage and cultural values mean to this fascinating group of people. It tooks a bit to hit its best stride, but it gets there and we’re ready for a Season Two.
BLING EMPIRE: NEW YORK arrives on Netflix January 14, 2023.

The Paramount Pictures film 80 FOR BRADY is inspired by the true story of four best friends living life to the fullest when they take a wild trip to the 2017 Super Bowl LI to see their hero Tom Brady play. âWhen I wrote âGonna Be Youâ for 80 FOR BRADY, I wanted to write a song that celebrated these women’s deep friendship,â says Warren. âSince 80 was in the title I got a crazy idea, why not get some of the most iconic singers from the 80s, who are still amazing and always will be, to all sing it?!!!! Everyone I approached said yes and was just as excited as me!! I’m honored to have Dolly Parton, Belinda Carlisle, Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan and Debbie Harry on this song!! âGonna Be Youâ is that song you want to sing along to with all your good friends!!!â.

Ed Sheeran does a powerful tribute dedicated to his late friend Jamal Edwards.
Filmed at night at an empty Stamford Bridge, with Jamalâs name spelled out in the stands behind him â home of Chelsea FC, of whom Jamal was a lifelong fan – Edâs 64-bar freestyle is fuelled by raw emotion, as Ed details the deep grief heâs experienced since losing his best friend last year.
More from British Music Media Company SB.TV, founded by Edwards:
“Last year we lost our leader and founder Jamal Edwards, MBE. It has been the hardest thing in the world to process as he was the driving force behind so much and such a bright light in all of our lives here at team SB.
Jamal had a unique connection with artists and creatives and was happiest when he was connecting and creating. His journey began locally but took him on a global adventure on the way forming unique bonds. One of these bonds was with long time friend and brother Ed Sheeran. From a tweet to a long lasting brotherhood.
With the return of the flagship series F64 Ed Sheeran kicks us off with a tribute to Jamal. At SBTV, we will continue to push and support British artists, bringing artists together in new ways. Jamal’s legacy will live on through his incredible achievements, SBTV and the Jamal Edwards Self Belief Trust.
Tanisha Artman, SBTV CEO ” We plan to keep everything in line with what Jamal started and was working on. SBTV will stay true to its roots and that will never change as we grow. Thank you to everyone that has supported us we are forever grateful. “
