BritBox has announced that Edward Bluemel (We Might Regret This, My Lady Jane) will star as Agatha Christie’s iconic Belgian detective in new drama series Hercule — produced by Mammoth Screen and Agatha Christie Limited for BritBox North America and the BBC.
The six-part series is written by Benji Walters (Code of Silence, The Leopard, Obsession). Jonny Campbell (Am I Being Unreasonable?, Dracula, BAFTA winner for In The Flesh) will direct the first two episodes. Charlie Palmer (A Woman of Substance, Extraordinary) is series producer.
The series is an intimate study of Hercule the man and an epic portrait of Britain between the wars. The series takes a magnifying glass to three of Christie’s most celebrated stories, while also charting Hercule’s burgeoning friendship with Captain Arthur Hastings, his early encounters with Scotland Yard’s James Japp, and introducing him to one particular nemesis…
QUOTES:
Edward Bluemel, on his casting: “I feel very lucky to have been trusted with such an iconic character who has been played by so many great actors. I can’t wait to continue Hercule’s legacy.”
Jon Farrar, Chief Content Officer, Direct to Consumer, BBC Studios: “Few characters in fiction are as iconic as Hercule Poirot. Agatha Christie’s stories have always been a cornerstone of BritBox and with Hercule, we have an opportunity to explore a fascinating new chapter in Hercule Poirot’s life, bringing a fresh perspective to a character audiences think they know so well. We’re delighted to greenlight a series that explores Hercule like never before, with Edward Bluemel bringing his charm, dynamism, and wit to a beloved character. This is an ambitious reimagining of one of Christie’s greatest creations, and we can’t wait for audiences across North America to discover Hercule Poirot all over again.”
James Prichard, Executive Producer, Agatha Christie Limited: “My father had the privilege of working with David Suchet for nearly 25 years, and I now have the good fortune of being able to share my great grandmother’s brilliant stories with a new generation of viewers. Edward Bluemel is an extremely talented performer and will make a great addition to the long line of actors that have played this celebrated character, aided and abetted by Benji Walters’ thoughtful scripts. I cannot wait to see Edward on screen as Hercule Poirot.”
Rebecca Durbin and Damien Timmer, Executive Producers, Mammoth Screen: “Edward Bluemel and Benji Walters are both extraordinary talents and it is a joy to see them take on this beloved character and make it their own – Hercule is both a love letter to Agatha Christie and a fascinating new perspective on an iconic figure – we hope viewers will find it as arresting as we do!”
Filming will begin this summer, primarily in Liverpool.
Widely regarded as one of the greatest detectives in fiction, Agatha Christie’s Poirot novels have sold over 750 million copies, captivating readers and audiences for more than a century.
Hercule (6×60’) is produced by Mammoth Screen (part of ITV Studios) and Agatha Christie Limited for BritBox North America and the BBC. It is adapted by Benji Walters. The executive producers are Benji Walters and Jonny Campbell, James Prichard for Agatha Christie Limited, Rebecca Durbin and Damien Timmer for Mammoth Screen, Nick Lambon for the BBC, and Robert Schildhouse, Jon Farrar and Stephen Nye for BritBox. Charlie Palmer is series producer. Fifth Season is handling global distribution.
The series will stream on BritBox in the US and Canada. BritBox is home to the largest collection of Agatha Christie titles streaming in North America, including previous adaptations Murder is Easy, Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?, and Towards Zero, as well as the upcoming Tommy & Tuppence debuting September 15th.

Music artists from the You Do You Foundation Mentorship Program will be featured at The Expo, supported by TD Bank Group.
Conceived as a dynamic platform for both established icons and emerging talent, Fierce and Fabulous Expo is committed to creating a safe and affirming space where Canadian queer artists can perform, showcase their work, and connect with audiences, industry professionals, and fellow creatives. The event also aims to raise awareness of You Do You Foundation’s mandate to support artists facing systemic and personal barriers due to their life circumstances, helping them access mentorship, resources, and meaningful opportunities in the arts.
“I created Fierce and Fabulous Expo because our community deserves a space where creativity, culture, and opportunity collide. As a queer artist, DJ and producer, I know how hard it can be for creators from our community to access resources and platforms that truly celebrate who we are” said Velvet Code, Founder of You Do You Foundation and Fierce and Fabulous Expo. “This Expo is about lifting each other up, while also supporting the You Do You Foundation and its mission to empower emerging artists with the tools they need to thrive. My hope is that Fierce and Fabulous Expo becomes a catalyst for connection, visibility, and a stronger foundation for the future of entertainment for our community.”
The inaugural artist line-up features an extraordinary roster of artists from So Fierce Music, Canada’s premiere 2SLGBTQ+ Music Label as well as global drag superstars including: Brooke-Lynn Hytes, Nicky Doll, Utica, Silky Nutmeg Ganache, Pangina Heals, Venus, Gisele Lullaby, Tynomi Banks, Justin ABit, Seyonce Knows, KAOS, and Oceane Aqua-Black. They will be joined by rising performers Dahlia Doll, Rina MorningStar and Chloe Jane, alongside You Do You Foundation Mentorship Program alumni Lady Nova, Brayo Bryans, Noah Jemm, and Oliver Klozoff – artists who embody the Foundation’s commitment to nurturing talent and building pathways to sustainable creative careers.
Guests can expect electrifying drag and live music performances, the “Lavender Lane” fashion runway spotlighting cutting-edge designers, and interactive moments including meet-and-greets and photo opportunities with performers. Beyond entertainment, the Expo also features its “Love & Learn” series – a curated lineup of panels and workshops exploring diversity, inclusion, and the evolution of queer arts.
Beyond live performances and programming, Fierce and Fabulous Expo will also welcome exhibitors and corporate sponsors from across Canada. Businesses, brands, and organizations aligned with creativity, diversity, and community empowerment are encouraged to participate and help shape an inclusive, high-impact experience for attendees.
Applications are now open for sponsors and exhibitors who are interested in taking part in the Fierce and Fabulous Expo. Apply HERE.

More than a convention, Fierce and Fabulous Expo represents a movement – one that celebrates self-expression, artistic excellence, and community care. Through performances, exhibitions, interactive experiences, and meaningful connections, the Expo is poised to become a defining cultural event that uplifts queer voices while advancing the life-changing work of the You Do You Foundation.
Together, Fierce and Fabulous Expo and the You Do You Foundation are helping to build a future where queer artists across Canada can be seen, supported, and celebrated – unapologetically and on their own terms.

In honour of father’s day, two of Toronto’s cult-favourite food spots are coming together for a limited-edition collaboration this June.
For one weekend only (June 20–21), Hong Shing and Bear Steak are launching a limited-edition Father’s Day collaboration available at Bear Steak’s College Street and The Well locations:
Ma La Poivre Steak Sandwich – a Hong Shing twist on a BEAR Steak classic! Inspired by the famous Ma La Chicken Wings from Hong Shing, medium rare flank is dressed with a szechuan peppercorn au poivre sauce and topped with pickled cucumbers.
Ginger Scallion Fries -the perfect complement to the sandwich. A healthy dusting of Hong Shing’s ginger scallion seasoning coats the BEAR Steak fries, which are double fried in beef tallow for extra crispiness and flavour. An umami flavour bomb!
Beyond the food itself, the collaboration is also rooted in community and nostalgia — inspired by the connection many people have between basketball, food, and spending time with family and friends.

GRAMMY® & Emmy Award-winning superstar singer, songwriter, rapper, instrumentalist, and actress Lizzo has released her new album, Bitch.
Lizzo, who first coined the phrase ‘I’m 100% that bitch’ on her Diamond-selling single “Truth Hurts” will continue to shape pop culture with her newly released album.
On the inspiration for the album title Lizzo shares, “Reclaiming the word Bitch is power – it’s taking a label once used to diminish women and turning it into a declaration of confidence, and unapologetic self-love. So many incredible women in music have used the word for positivity like Meredith Brooks and Missy Elliot. It was only fitting to name my album Bitch because it has become my favorite word when using it on my own terms and because I am 100% that bitch!”
Among the album’s standout tracks is “Sexy Ladies,” a reimagined version of “Sexy Lady,” the 2005 hit from D.C. go-go band UCB (Uncalled 4 Band). The track honors the UCB classic and celebrates the go-go genre as they commemorate 50 years of Washington, D.C.’s official music.
Last month, Lizzo released the title track Bitch (listen HERE) along with a new video directed by child featuring Lizzo and an entourage of performers—watch HERE. The track was produced by frequent collaborators Ricky Reed, Blake Slatkin & Zack Sekoff and interpolates Meredith Brooks’ smash hit of the same name.
Back in March, Lizzo released “Don’t Make Me Love U”, a standout track from the new album. The song was met with immense praise from critics and fans alike, kicking off Lizzo’s new musical era with a striking video depicting Lizzo grappling with her past-self, reflecting and eventually evolving through learning and growth.
Earlier this year Lizzo performed a fully sold-out run of shows at Blue Note Jazz Club’s Los Angeles & New York locations, totalling a run of 12 performances. Variety heralded that “these shows reminded the audience, up close and personal, what a major talent Lizzo is: a top-class singer, an engaging and entertaining performer, and to a degree we haven’t really seen before, a trained, serious musician.” She most recently headlined an electrifying performance to a sold-out Houston Rodeo with over 70,000 fans earlier this spring. Most recently, she performed at the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Runway Show– streaming on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ on June 9th– in Miami, where she sang “Sexy Ladies.”
Aside from music, Lizzo recently announced the upcoming release of her first ever children’s book Lil Lizzo Meets Sasha B. Flootin’, coming to bookshelves all over on September 8th, 2026. Published by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, the story tells the tale of a bubbly little girl who just wants to belong meeting a smart and brassy flute who can’t find her tune, winding up on a wild adventure to places filled with incredible sounds. Lizzo is also starring as Rock N Roll pioneer & gospel singer Sister Rosetta Tharpe in the upcoming film “Rosetta” from Amazon MGM Studios. She also appeared on The Roast of Kevin Hart, further highlighting her versatility across entertainment, comedy and tv.
About Lizzo:
Lizzo is a four-time GRAMMY® Award–winning, Emmy Award–winning superstar singer, songwriter, rapper, and actress, who has left an indelible and incomparable mark on popular culture. She has garnered numerous accolades, notched two Hot 100 #1 smashes, earned dozens of gold, platinum, and multi-platinum certifications, packed arenas worldwide, and shined in blockbuster films. Lizzo notably made history in 2023 when she emerged as “the first black woman to receive Record of the Year at the GRAMMY® Awards since 1994” for the 2x-platinum “About Damn Time.” Prior, she shook the charts with the Diamond record “Truth Hurts.” It enshrined her as both “the third female rapper to top the Hot 100 without a featured artist” and “the first black solo female R&B singer to claim the top spot since 2012.” It dominated the Hot 100 for seven weeks, becoming “the longest running #1 by a solo female rap artist ever.” Rolling Stone hailed it as one of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. She has appeared on a myriad of television shows, including Saturday Night Live, TODAY, Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, CBS Sunday Morning, and more. She also headlined her own Emmy nominated HBO special Lizzo: Live In Concert, capturing her sold-out show at Kia Forum in Los Angeles. Along the way, her presence could be felt at the box office and on streaming networks, spanning roles in The Simpsons and Hustlers in addition to producing and starring in the #1 multi-Emmy Award–Winning, Prime reality TV show: Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls. She founded her own activewear brand, Yitty, designed for every type of body. In 2026, she kicked off the year with the announcement of her first ever children’s book, Lil Lizzo Meets Sasha B. Flootin,’ hitting bookshelves this September & will be starring in the newly announced film “Rosetta” from Amazon MGM Studios.
Today, Alex Sampson released his new EP, Growing Pains, via Warner Records. Listen HERE. Produced by David Pramik (Selena Gomez, Bebe Rexha, Logic), Growing Pains finds Sampson turning real-life experiences into a sharp, heartfelt collection of songs about love, heartbreak, loss, and growing up in real time. Across the project, he leans into the emotional honesty that has become a signature of his songwriting, capturing the moments that change us – the relationships that linger, the endings that hurt, and the perspective that comes after.
“The Growing Pains EP is my favorite project I’ve done to date. I say that every time but it’s because I always mean it,” said Sampson. “I hope the fans listen to this project and understand that I’m just like them. I go through the same things as everyone else. I’ve fallen in love, gotten my heart broken, lost people, etc. I ask everyone to listen from top to bottom as it tells a little bit of a story. Thanks for listening.”
Featuring recent singles “How Lucky Am I?,” “Misery,” and “Not Even Gone,” Growing Pains traces the emotional arc of moving through heartbreak, memory and self-discovery. The EP balances Sampson’s timeless pop instincts with a more personal point of view, offering a closer look at an artist coming into his own with clarity, vulnerability and confidence.
The release arrives during a pivotal chapter for Sampson, following his first headline tour across the U.S. and Canada earlier this year and the announcement that he will join Freya Skye as support on her upcoming tour.
With Growing Pains, Sampson steps further into his next era, delivering a project that feels intimate, reflective and deeply connected to the fans who have grown alongside him.
About Alex Sampson
Canadian-born singer-songwriter Alex Sampson is emerging as one of pop’s most promising new voices, pairing boy-next-door charm with the emotional vulnerability of early 2000s singer-songwriters. Raised in Atikokan, Ontario, a small town of roughly 2,600 people, Sampson first found a global audience online through covers of artists including Ruth B, Ed Sheeran and Billie Eilish before introducing fans to his own songwriting with early originals like “Stay Here,” “All That We Could Have Been” and “Play Pretend.” Sampson has since released his debut EP, Blurry Vision, appeared on season nineteen of America’s Got Talent, and followed with his sophomore EP, Hopeless Romantic. Named to People Magazine’s 2023 Emerging Artists list, he has built a highly engaged fanbase of more than 5.8 million combined social followers and over 101 million total views, connecting with Gen Z listeners while maintaining a broader, cross-generational appeal. After opening for Alexander Stewart in Canada and joining Jamie Miller’s Long Way Home tour across North America and Europe, Sampson kicked off his first headline tour across the U.S. and Canada in 2026. He continues his next chapter with Growing Pains, out now via Warner Records.
GRAMMY-nominated, global chart-topping and record-breaking singer-songwriter and musician Alex Warren has revealed details on his highly anticipated sophomore studio album WILDCHILD to be released on August 28 via Atlantic Records. Watch the teaser starring Kevin James HERE.
Accompanying the news of WILDCHILD comes the irresistibly joyous and soon-to-be summer smash “PASSENGER,” written by Alex Warren and produced by Adam Yaron, the rousing new single comes with an equally fun official music video directed by Blythe Thomas. Watch HERE
News of WILDCHILD follows Warren’s most recent singles “Fine Place To Die” and “Fever Dream,” and his incredible, record-breaking 2025 album debut YOU’LL BE ALRIGHT, KID, which has garnered the young artist over 9 billion streams to date, 5 iHeart Radio Awards, a 2025 MTV VMA for Best New Artist and Billboard’s Best New Artist of 2025, amongst other impressive accolades.
WILDCHILD further showcases the full spectrum of Warren’s intimate and vulnerable songwriting as well as his rich, soulful vocals which have captivated audiences around the world since he first entered the scene in 2021 and went on to become one of the highest charting and streaming artists of last year. Warren again spotlights both joyful and equally heart wrenching themes which are both deeply personal to him and universally relatable to listeners. The album explores loss, grief and the journey that follows as he navigates his new life while treasuring the gifts his dad imparted to him both throughout his life and when saying goodbye.
“Growing up, my dad used to call me Wildchild so it’s always had a special meaning and I even have it tattooed on me,” says Warren. “Creating this album was really healing, therapeutic and a way for me to continue finding out more about myself. This album really shows where I am in my life today and compared to my first album which feels like a man who is broken, this one is a man who’s trying to heal. It’s been really nice to be able to confront those feelings and also be able to share them with the world to give everyone a transparent view into my life.”
