It’s two weeks of Tay-Tay! TAYLOR SWIFT: THE ERAS TOUR takes the top spot once again at the Box Office with $32 million from 3,855 theatres for AMC/Cineplex Pictures. Because the experience is primarily playing during the weekend, its two week total is boosted to $130.7 million.
Debuting in second spot is KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON with $22 million from 3,628 theatres for Paramount Pictures/Apple Original Films. This would be Martin Scorsese’s widest opening ever for a film, and he is still in fine form, garnering 92% on the Tomatometer from Critics.
PAW PATROL: THE MIGHTY MOVIE is in third with $5.6 million from 3,364 theatres for Paramount Pictures/Elevation Pictures, a total run of $56.7 million.
Fourth is TIM BURTON’S A NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, re-released to 1,650 theatres by Disney to the tune of $4.3 million, adding to the 1993 classic’s $91.5 million worldwide gross to date.
THE EXORCIST: BELIEVER is hanging-on in fifth spot with $3.9 million, a domestic tally of $52.6 million for Universal Pictures.
Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe Award-nominated Comedian/Writer and Actress HANNAH EINBINDER‘s star continues to rise and if you haven’t had the pleasure of witnessing her breakthrough work on HBO’s HACKS, you are missing out! This is one of my favourite series in recent years, with Einbinder starring as Ava, alongside legendary Jean Smart respectively, as a young Comedy Writer and struggling Stand-Up Comedy icon who team together to help revive the latter’s career.
The brilliant Einbinder is gracing Toronto with her presence as part of her ongoing tour, playing a total five shows over three nights this weekend at Comedy Bar Danforth.
We had the joy of seeing her live finally and we were absolutely floored by this fierce talent who displayed her smart humour before sold-out crowd, material ranging from Climate Change, to her own childhood and navigating her mental health. Pure genius and she had the audience in stitches!
We even were lucky enough to get our birthday wish – meeting her! Beyond happy!

Production has been halted on the third season of HACKS due to the ongoing Writers and Actors strikes impacting Hollywood. Cannot wait to see what’s next on this beloved Series!

Toronto has continued to experience a renaissance in northern Chinese cuisine in recent years and HAPPY VALLEY VILLAGE is the latest to enter to local food scene. This third ever North American location, located in Scarborough, launched this Summer and just had its official opening last month. Other branches include Los Angeles and Vancouver and judging by how busy it was on a Friday night, the local food scene is embracing this.
What makes HAPPY VALLEY VILLAGE so unique is its paying homage to Northeastern Chinese cuisine, which is known for its Kang Stove Beds and warm, comforting Iron Pot Stews served with a sweet corn pancake. Protein options offered include goose, duck, chicken, beef, pork and fish, with a few levels of spiciness. Above this, their menu is boosted by some fantastic a la carte selections.
We had the most amazing night out here and the service was incredible, as was the food. We’ve never had this variation of Chinese cuisine and will definitely be back. Everything is so thoughtful to the traditional decor honouring the labour that goes into the fare, to the curation of the menu which ranges from appetizers to desserts (the sugar-coated dates, taro and sweet potato are a must)!
Check-out our experience here:
HAPPY VALLEY VILLAGE is located at 3700 Midland Avenue (Units 113 & 115) at McNicoll in Scarborough. They are open daily for lunch and dinner. You can learn more here.

Today, Prime Video announced that it officially ordered a sophomore season of the global hit series Gen V, which comes from the world of The Boys. Gen V, from Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television, began its eight-episode freshman season on Friday, September 29, 2023 and will conclude with an epic season finale on Friday, November 3. The series streams exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
“Expanding the universe of The Boys with a series as bold as Gen V has been an incredible journey for us and our wonderful partners at Sony. From our first conversation with showrunners Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, along with Eric Kripke, Evan Goldberg, and Seth Rogen, we knew Gen V would push the boundaries. Their unapologetic approach is exactly what audiences love, and it has helped Gen V become the No. 1 series on Prime Video in over 130 countries,” said Vernon Sanders, head of television, Amazon MGM Studios. “Gen V is Prime Video’s most acquisitive new Original series of 2023, and we’re excited that our incredible cast and crew are going to continue telling brave and bold stories from Gen V to our customers.”
“We couldn’t be happier to make a second season of Gen V. These are characters and stories we’ve grown to love, and we are thrilled to know people feel the same! The writers are already working on the new season—sophomore year is gonna be wild, with all the twists, heart, satire, and exploding genitalia you’ve come to expect from the show,” added showrunner Michele Fazekas and executive producer Eric Kripke.
“We are so proud that our top-ranked freshman is getting a second season! Thank you to the amazing producers, cast, and crew, for bringing Gen V to life, and our Prime Video teammates, for the incredible support and partnership. We’re thrilled we can all continue on this insane journey together in Season Two!” said Katherine Pope, president of Sony Pictures Television Studios.
Set in the diabolical world of The Boys, Gen V expands the universe to Godolkin University, the prestigious superhero-only college where students train to be the next generation of heroes—preferably with lucrative endorsements. You know what happens when supes go bad, but not all superheroes start out corrupt. Beyond the typical college chaos of finding oneself and partying, these kids are facing explosive situations … literally. As the students vie for popularity and good grades, it’s clear that the stakes are much higher when super powers are involved. When the group of young supes discover that something bigger and sinister is going on at school, they’re put to the test: Will they be the heroes or the villains of their stories?
The Season One cast includes Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Marco Pigossi. Gen V also features guest stars Clancy Brown and Jason Ritter, as well as appearances from Jessie T. Usher, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and P.J. Byrne, reprising their roles from The Boys. Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters serve as showrunners and executive producers. Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur, Pavun Shetty, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, Craig Rosenberg, Nelson Cragg, Zak Schwartz, Erica Rosbe, and Michaela Starr also serve as executive producers on the spinoff series. Serving as co-executive producers are Brant Englestein, Sarah Carbiener, Lisa Kussner, Gabriel Garcia, Aisha Porter-Christie, Judalina Neira, and Loreli Alanís. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios, in association with Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures, and Original Film.

Starring Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackman, Bryan Brown, Brandon Walters, Ben Mendelsohn, David Wenham and Jack Thompson, the story centers on English aristocrat Lady Sarah Ashley (Kidman), who travels halfway across the world to confront her wayward husband and sell an unusual asset: Faraway Downs, a million-acre cattle ranch in the Australian outback. Following the death of her husband, a ruthless Australian cattle baron, King Carney (Bryan Brown) plots to take her land, and she reluctantly joins forces with a rough-hewn cattle drover (Hugh Jackman) to protect her ranch. The sweeping adventure-romance is explored through the eyes of young Nullah (Brandon Walters), an Indigenous Australian child caught up in the government’s Draconian racial policy now referred to as the Stolen Generations. Together, the trio experiences four life-altering years, a love affair between Lady Ashley and the drover, and the unavoidable impact of World War II on Northern Australia.
“Australia” was directed, produced (with Catherine Knapman and G. Mac Brown) and co-written by Baz Luhrmann, alongside writers Stuart Beattie, Ronald Harwood and Richard Flanagan, with production and costume design by multiple-Academy Award winner Catherine Martin. “Faraway Downs” is executive produced by Luhrmann, Martin, Knapman and Schuyler Weiss. 20th Television is the studio.
