Jim Bean and Canadian Music Week just celebrated the 23rd annual Indie Awards, and headlining the celebrations this year were new Indie Awards Hall of Fame inductees, Finger Eleven! The show kicked off promptly at 8pm and by the end of the night, before we were treated to a full set by the brand new hall of fame inductees The Beaches and City and Colour won three awards each!
While only a few recipients were able to show up and accept their awards, the 2024 Jim Bean national Talent Search winner Myles Erlick was one of the few to show and gave the audience a performance that made it evidently clear why he won. The swagger of Elvis and the acrobatic ability of a Cirque Du Soleil performer, Myles Erlick has the presence and the voice that will shoot him into stardom and I for one cannot wait to see what he gets himself up to next. Tim Hicks also won the Country Artist/Group or Duo of the Year, while Tom Wilson won the Allan Slaight Humanitarian Spirit Award and gave a powerful speech and graced us with two songs.

While the awards concluded the Danforth Music Hall welcomed Finger Eleven back to the stage to give audiences a full set. Bringing the energy and even a mosh pit to the crowd, they played a collection of their hits including First Time, I’ll Keep Your Memory Vague, Living in a Dream, and started their encore with a Pink Floyd cover of Welcome to the Machine before ending the night on the song almost everyone knows them for – Paralyzer. Finger Eleven truly put on a hall of fame-worthy show and everyone in the crowd was electric.

Today, groundbreaking country artist Orville Peck unleashes the irresistible new single “Midnight Ride” — a genre-blurring collaboration with global icon Kylie Minogue and superstar DJ/producer Diplo. Listen HERE via Warner Records. The song premiered during Minogue’s headline set at Out Loud Festival at WeHo Pride on June 2, where Peck appeared as a surprise guest.
Serving as the latest single from Peck’s upcoming Stampede album, the track combines country style, pop hooks, and club beats to create a dance floor-ready disco anthem. Throughout his career, Peck has pushed the boundaries of country music — a mission that continues with “Midnight Ride” and its massive crossover appeal.
“Midnight Ride” is Peck’s first new release since Stampede Vol. 1, the first collection of massive duets he has recorded with Willie Nelson, Elton John, Noah Cyrus, Midland, Allison Russell, Nathaniel Rateliff, and Bu Cuaron. Among the tracklist is his cover of “Cowboys Are Frequently, Secretly Fond of Each Other” with Nelson — no doubt a highlight of his Stampede Tour, underway now across North America.
Earlier this week, Peck announced his 6th annual Rodeo, featuring performances from Medium Build, Mickey Guyton, Reyna Roberts, The Nude Party and more, in addition to a headline set from Peck & Tanya Tucker. Hosted by John Waters, the rodeo will take place on August 24 at Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater, with a kickoff party at Basement East on August 23 and a closing party at Brooklyn Bowl on August 25. Tickets are on sale June 12 — click HERE for more details.
In May, Peck was honored at the 35th GLAAD Media Awards in New York City with the Vito Russo Award, which is presented to a LGBTQ media professional who has made a significant difference in accelerating LGBTQ acceptance. The award solidifies Peck’s rising profile in the ever-evolving music landscape. And now, with “Midnight Ride,” he’s poised to reach a whole new audience.

Grab a grasshopper and get ready to step back into glamorous Palm Beach high society! On the heels of its critically acclaimed season one finale, Apple TV+ today announced a season two renewal for its global hit comedy, “Palm Royale.”
Since its global debut this March, “Palm Royale” has been hailed as “a dishy delight,” “wildly outrageous and amusing,” “a feast of retro stylings and historical events” and an “edge-of-your-seat guessing game you won’t want to stop watching.” Additionally, Wiig was just recognized for her work in the series with a nomination from the first ever Gotham TV Awards.
“We are so thrilled to hear about season two,” says executive producer Dern. “Jayme and I (with Jaywalker Pictures) have been dreaming up this project for so long in hopes that audiences would have delicious fun with the radical ride that is the world of Palm Royale. We all can’t wait to get started!”
“‘Palm Royale’ has delighted global audiences and we are thrilled that viewers will have the opportunity to spend more time with this highly entertaining, iconic cast, from Kristen Wiig to the incomparable Carol Burnett,” said Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+. “We can’t wait for everyone to experience the next brilliantly witty chapter in the lives of the Palm Beach high society set that Abe Sylvia, Kristen, Laura Dern and this incredible team behind the show have brought so vibrantly to life.”
Set in high society Palm Beach in 1969, “Palm Royale” is a true underdog story that follows Maxine Simmons (Wiig) as she endeavors to break into Palm Beach high society. As Maxine attempts to cross that impermeable line between the haves and the have-nots, “Palm Royale” asks the same question that still baffles us today: “How much of yourself are you willing to sacrifice to get what someone else has?” Set during the powder keg year of 1969, “Palm Royale” is a testament to every outsider fighting for their chance to truly belong.
In addition to Wiig and Dern, the renowned ensemble cast of “Palm Royale” is led by Allison Janney, Ricky Martin, Josh Lucas, Leslie Bibb, Amber Chardae Robinson, Mindy Cohn, Julia Duffy and Kaia Gerber, with extra special guest star turns by the legendary Bruce Dern and the iconic, multiple-award winner Carol Burnett.
Hailing from Apple Studios, “Palm Royale” written, executive produced and showrun by Abe Sylvia for Aunt Sylvia’s Moving Picture Company. The series is executive produced by Wiig, Dern and Jayme Lemons for Jaywalker Pictures, Katie O’Connell Marsh, Tate Taylor and John Norris for Wyolah Films, Sharr White, Sheri Holman and Boat Rocker.
Fans can catch up on the complete first season of “Palm Royale,” now streaming globally on Apple TV+.
Apple TV+ offers premium, compelling drama and comedy series, feature films, groundbreaking documentaries, and kids and family entertainment, and is available to watch across all your favorite screens. After its launch on November 1, 2019, Apple TV+ became the first all-original streaming service to launch around the world, and has premiered more original hits and received more award recognitions faster than any other streaming service in its debut. To date, Apple Original films, documentaries and series have been honored with 492 wins and 2,158 award nominations and counting, including multi-Emmy Award-winning comedy “Ted Lasso” and historic Oscar Best Picture winner “CODA.”
