Meet the charming, yet pretty inept, and definitely not self-aware new female boss in the official trailer for The Office, which Prime Video released today. Comedian and actor Felicity Ward is the first woman to play the iconic lead role, 23 years after The Office first debuted. Orca Cove Media is excited to announce a national theatrical release for the first-ever Indigenous heist film, THE GREAT SALISH HEIST, featuring Graham Greene, Tricia Helfer, and Ashley Callingbull. Coming to Cineplex theatres across Canada for National Truth and Reconciliation Day, the film will be playing in select cities on September 22 and September 28, 2024.

THE GREAT SALISH HEIST follows Steve Joe, a traditional archaeologist for the Moquahat people who believes the bad luck in his community is a result of the displacement of sacred artifacts. He and a rag-tag group of rebels from the Rez hatch a plan to break into a museum and reclaim their stolen artifacts.

After a successful theatrical run across the West Coast, THE GREAT SALISH HEIST’s lead cast has made names for themselves, including actress Ashley Callingbull who has since been crowned 2024’s Miss Universe Canada.

“We couldn’t be more proud of Ashley and the success she has received,” says Joe. “From our movie filmed in Southern Vancouver Island to competing in Mexico later this year for Miss Universe, she is a testament to Indigenous talent and we couldn’t be happier to have had her as part of our cast.”

On September 30, 2024, Hollywood Suite will present a day of programming featuring Indigenous creatives and artists as part of the fourth annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Spotlighting the culture, history and perspectives of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples, the programming will begin at 6:05am ET.

This year’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation lineup includes the dramedy Dance Me Outside (1994), Alanis Obomsawin’s documentary Incident at Restigouche (1984), environmental horror film The Beehive (2023), the period drama Black Robe (1991) and Zoe Leigh Hopkins’ Kayak to Klemtu (2018).

At the centre of the day of programming is APTN’s Remembering the Children: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 2024, a 90-minute multilingual commemorative gathering created in partnership with CBC/Radio-Canada and the Algonquin Nation and broadcast live from Ottawa. The special seeks to honour survivors, pay tribute to the children who never made it home from residential schools, and deliver a safe and nurturing environment for reconciliation and healing.

Hosted by Earl Wood and Danielle Rochette, this year’s Remembering the Children will include powerful reflections from esteemed Elders and Survivors as well as moving performances by First Nations, Inuit and Métis artists.
