Some days I’m literally convinced that I was born to meet Celebrities. Today at my Day Job, I head down to the Gym to get a nice, nourishing breakfast, when I had to do a triple-take. Why in the World would Sportscaster Brian Williams be at my office working out? Well he was.
Although I’m not much of a Sports Nut, watching the Olympics as a Kid was unavoidable and you all know how much I love Horse Racing, for which he was a regular Commentator on major Race Telecasts. Brian Williams was always on CBC with a highly-distinctive manner about him which came to define much of my younger years.
We missed Williams’ familiar voice and face on CTV‘s (which he transitioned over to) coverage of the Winter Olympics in Sochi this year, but the Man certainly has left behind a legacy which several after him could only aspire for.
The Officer of the Order of Canada was awesome to stop and pose for a Photo by the Cash Register with me today, extending a handshake. Made. My. Life!

It was a momentous occasion as Swine Queen – the Diva herself – Miss Piggy visited Toronto in support of her upcoming Blockbuster, MUPPETS MOST WANTED. In continuation of 2011 Feature The Muppets, this latest Instalment sees the Gang, while on a World Tour, wrapped into a European Jewel Heist, led by Kermit Look-a-Like.
The Stars are plentiful in MUPPETS MOST WANTED, starring the likes of Tina Fey, Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell, with Cameos from Saoirse Ronan, Chloë Moretz, Christoph Waltz, Stanley Tucci, Frank Langella, James McAvoy, Salma Hayek, Tom Hiddleston, Josh Groban, Lady Gaga, Zach Galifianakis, Céline Dion, Usher and many, many more.
Miss Piggy pulled-out all the stops today on her Press Tour, taking some winning fashion risks in a seductive Animal Print Dress, Pearls, elegant White Gloves and a huge Diamond Ring. Her cornsilk, flat-ironed hair also was a big hit among the Media! The Goddess rose early to appear on CP24 Breakfast with Steve Anthony and spent much of the earlier part of her day based out of Bell Media‘s Queen Street Headquarters doing the rounds including CTV‘s eTalk and Canada AM. She later held a Press Conference out of her ultra-chic Hotel, greeting a litany of Local Media.
Watch Miss Piggy‘s hilarious interview with Anthony, in which he tries not once but twice to get a kiss on the lips from her:
Miss Piggy leaves us with a parting note on why we should see MUPPETS MOST WANTED. She says, “It’s the only Movie you need to see this year because it’s got everything in it. You don’t need to see any other Movie. It’s got Action, Romance, Comedy and don’t forget about Comedy!”. Sold.
Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Canada release MUPPETS MOST WANTED on Friday, March 21, 2014!
Ever wonder about the brilliant Puppeteer behind the amazing Miss Piggy? Meet Eric Jacobson below, responsible also for Fozzie Bear, Sam Eagle and Animal! We caught a Snap of him New York City-bound as he head-off with a van full of gear for tomorrow’s round of Press which includes visits to The Queen Latifah Show and TODAY with Kathie Lee & Hoda.
Although he was rushed and unable to stop for Photos and Autographs leaving a taping of George Stroumboulopoulous Tonight, his Handlers were apologetic as they had been running behind schedule, just catching his flight in time. He gave a remorseful smile, thanking everyone for understanding.

Let me tell you about a little Story about Charlie Hunnam. Two years ago when I was in-between jobs, I made it a point of allocating my spare time to finding him. Love. The. Guy. It was whispered to me that he had been frequenting a local Thai Hotspot on weeknights after wrapping-up filming on what went-on to be the acclaimed Pacific Rim. I made it a point of visiting the Haunt frequently and $200 of Pad Thai later, I crossed paths with him finally. “I’m a creature of habit” he told me about his dining habits after letting him know how hard I had thaid… I mean tried, frequenting the Restaurant around closing time sporadically over the span of a few weeks.
Hunnam is a rare breed in a crowded field of working Actors. He is ultra-selective about the roles he chooses and it is surprising to see that in a Career which dates back to the late ’90s, he has less than 20 acting credits to his name. But the quality of his work is impeccable. Nicholas Nickelby, Pacific Rim, Queer as Folk (the original U.K. one), Cold Mountain, Sons of Anarchy (for which he is known best for stateside)… and even the upcoming Film Adaptation of wildly-popular 50 Shades of Gray, in which he originally was cast in the Leading Role of Christian Gray until ultimately deciding against it.
Above this, Hunnam is just an all-around nice Guy. Despite repeatedly being asked for Autographs by professional Collectors, he is reportedly just as nice every time and I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who’s crossed paths with him and didn’t have something nice to say about him.
I spotted the British Actor, in-town and re-teaming with Guillermo del Toro once again on his next Film, Crimson Peak (Working Title: Haunted Peak). The Film stars also Mia Wasikowska, Tom Hiddleston and Jessica Chastain, the latter who attended a private House Party this weekend held in her honour at a luxurious Hotel/Condo in Financial District.
Carrying a Yoga Mat, he appeared to be coming back from a Workout, before retiring for the night. He is just as awesome as I remembered two years ago when first meeting him and I even managed to get him to sign a Photo for you Wongsters, which he was just gracious about. How do you feel about winning that?

His name probably doesn’t ring a bell just yet, but Billy Magnussen‘s profile is rising fast. The New York-born Actor/Songwriter/Singer/Guitarist has an extensive background in Theatre, having made his debut on Broadway in 2007. Did I mention he’s a TONY Award Nominee?
Currently in-town filming eagerly-awaited WEtv Series The Divide from among others, Executive Producers Richard LaGravenese (P.S. I Love You, Beautiful Creatures) and Tony Goldwyn (Scandal, Ghost), he is dividing (pardon the pun) his time between here and New York City – where he plays with his Band Reserved for Rondee.
Magnussen has padded his profile with roles on As the World Turns and Indie Darlings like Damsels in Distress and The Brass Teapot, but his Big Break would appear to be a prominent role in upcoming Musical Into the Woods as Rapunzel’s Prince, opposite Mackenzie Mauzy who of course plays, Rapunzel. The Film also stars a few little-known Actors like Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Johnny Depp, Emily Blunt and some Newbie named Meryl Streep.
I spotted the Actor flying back to Toronto tonight and after checking-in with guitar-in-tow, he was amazing to stop for a quick Photo, all smiles. Excited to see what’s next for this Rising Star!
Into the Woods hits theatres via Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures on Christmas Day.

Mr. Peabody & Sherman in its second week of release takes the top of the Box Office despite some stiff challenges from some new Films. The Animated Feature earned $21.2 million for 20th Century Fox after opening in second spot last weekend. To date, it has grossed $63 million.
After debuting at the top last weekend, 300: Rise of an Empire slips to second spot this weekend for Warner Bros. with $19.1 million. In two weeks, the Action-Fantasy has earned an impressive $78 million.
Need for Speed opens in third spot for DreamWorks Pictures with $17.3 million from 3,315 theatres. Critics gave the Film 24% on the Tomatometer, despite Audiences having praise for the Film starring Breaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul, giving it an B+ CinemaScore.
Non-Stop continues to perform well in its third week with $10 million for Universal Pictures, placing it in fourth. The Film starring Liam Neeson and Julianne Moore thus far has made $78 million.
Tyler Perry’s The Single Mom’s Club opens in fifth spot for eOne Films/Lionsgate Films with $9 million. Critics gave the Comedy starring Nia Long, Terry Crews, Eddie Cibrian, Amy Smart at more a 22% on the Tomatometer, while Audiences gave it a A-CinemaScore.
It was close for the bottom of the Top ten with The Grand Budapest Hotel in its second week of limited release performing exceedingly well for Fox Searchlight, with $2.1 million from only 66 theatres across North America. Its per-screen average is a record-setting $55k. Critics gave the new Dramedy from Wes Anderson an outstanding 91% on the Tomatometer. Meanwhile, Fan-funded Veronica Mars, handled by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, also grossed $2.0 million from only 291 theatres; Critics gave it a respectable 76% on the Tomatometer. Another Kristen Bell Film, Frozen also brought-in $2 million for Disney in its 17th week of release amazingly.
Beautiful Creatures. Freedom Writers. P.S. I Love You. Behind the Candelabra. These are just some of the memorable Films which talented Writer/Director Richard LaGravenese has gifted us with over the years and although some Critics may have their own opinions about these Films, he has always left an impression with Audiences.
LaGravenese is currently in Toronto working on upcoming WEtv Series The Divide, about a Lawyer who unravels new evidence about a sensational Murder Case. He currently is attached as a Writer and Executive Producer to the new Series which stars Joe Anderson, whom we spotted a while back. Tony Goldwyn (Scandal, Ghost) also holds an Executive Producer and Director credit on the Series, although we are unsure how many Episodes he will be helming.
“How do you know who I am?”, he asks me after telling me he was out shopping today. Oh, trust me, I know LaGravenese‘s work v. well! I also am eagerly awaiting his next Comedy, The Last 5 Years starring Anna Kendrick due this year.
The Divide wraps at the end of March.
