“I did not kill my Wife. I am not a Murderer.”
The first official Teaser Trailer for David Fincher‘s GONE GIRL at long last has surfaced and if this doesn’t say Awards Season, then I don’t know what does! Set to Elvis Costello‘s She (covered by Richard Butler of The Psychadelic Furs), this intriguing Trailer leaves much to the imagination, capturing perfectly the chaos surrounding the speculation that Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) has murdered his Wife of five years (Rosamund Pike).
Based on Gillian Flynn‘s Best-selling Thriller, GONE GIRL stars both Ben Affleck, Neil Patrick Harris and Rosamund Pike.

Recently nominated for a BRIT Award for British Female Solo Artist, Birdy has received a great amount of exposure in recent months with her gorgeous, cinematic Wings being featured stateside on Movie Trailers. She also has a new Track, Not About Angels, which can be heard on the Soundtrack to eagerly-awaited Teen Drama The Fault in Our Stars, starring Divergent’s Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort.
Listen to Not About Angels below:
“I had a day off yesterday”, the beautiful Songstress tells me as she greets a hoard of Fans at the Concert Venue. “I discovered Queen Street and loved it!”. Whatever Birdy is doing, it appears to be working as Fans crowded in a long queue to get an Autograph or Photo op. She was affectionate, humble and happy to meet new faces.
If you haven’t discovered Birdy yet, I insist you get yourself acquainted.

BELLE is inspired by the True Story of Dido Elizabeth Belle (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), the illegitimate mixed-race Daughter of a Royal Navy Admiral. Raised by her aristocratic Great-Uncle Lord Mansfield (Tom Wilkinson) and his Wife (Emily Watson), Belle’s lineage affords her certain privileges, yet the color of her skin prevents her from fully participating in the traditions of her social standing. Left to wonder if she will ever find love, Belle falls for an idealistic young vicar’s son bent on change who, with her help, shapes Lord Mansfield’s role as Lord Chief Justice to end slavery in England.

The Sequel to the 2011 Hit, reunites Anne Hathaway and Jesse Eisenberg for more aviary adventures. By comparison its Predecessor debuted with $39, besting this Instalment slightly. The Stars of Canadian Thoroughbred Racing were honoured tonight at Woodbine Racetrack. The 39th annual Sovereign Awards brought together Key Figures in the Sport from across the Country in celebration of the 2013 Racing Season. Everyone ranging from the Media, Jockeys, Owners, Breeders to the Horses were fêted in what was noted as the best-attended edition of the Awards Ceremony in recent years.
Crowned Top Honour tonight was Sam-Son Farms‘ Up with the Birds, who ran a dynamite second in the Queen’s Plate last Season, before going-on the win the third leg of Canada’s Triple Crown, the Breeders’ Stakes. He then solidified his cause with a triumph at New York’s Belmont Park in the Grade 1 Jamaica Handicap. In addition, he took home the Award for Champion Three-Year-Old Male tonight, while his famed Owner and Breeder won Outstanding Breeder. Rick Balaz was on-hand to accept the Honour.
Up with the Birds’ regular Rider Eurico Da Silva also was crowned the Country’s most Outstanding Jockey. Playing on his Brazilian background, he started his spirited Acceptance Speech saying “No English”, before eloquently going-on to thank a list of Trainers and fellow Jockeys to whom he attributes his success. Even he acknowledged his Season wasn’t perfect, admitting his disappointment at narrowly losing the Country’s most prestigious Race, the Queen’s Plate, aboard Up with the Birds. Certainly Sovereign Award Voters were more than willing to overlook that one small blemish on both accounts.
Ottawa Senators Chairman Eugene Melnyk also was on-hand to accept Champion Three-Year-Old Female for the hard-trying Leigh Court, inviting those in attendance to go to Barbados to relax with him. “I’d never date her. She’s actually quite nasty”, he reveals about his Champion Filly, before declaring her love for Peppermints. “Those for Horses are equivalent to Diamonds and Women love Diamonds”, he analogizes.
Although not present, Mark Casse once again was named Outstanding Trainer in Canada. He currently is Kentucky prepping for tomorrow’s Grade 1 Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland, where he currently is riding a Hot Streak.
Full and complete Stats on all of tonight’s Winners are available right here.
I had the pleasure not only of attending and covering the prestigious Sovereign Awards, but also presenting at them in the Category of Digital/Video Broadcast, won by our Friends at Woodbine Entertainment of the 2013 Ricoh Woodbine Mile. Coincidentally, two-time North American Horse of the Year, Wise Dan, who won that Race last September won again today at Keeneland in his 2014 Return!
I even took a Selfie on-stage:

Prior to the Awards, I was able to have a quick Chat with several of tonight’s Jockey Nominees including: Luis Contreras, Skye Chernetz (Winner, Outstanding Apprentice – she was wearing a Dress by Original), Rico Walcott, Tommy Wong, Amie Pooli, Justin Stein and of course, Outstanding Jockey Winner Da Silva. Want to see what they were up to this Winter and what’s coming next?

How sweet is this? After making a big splash in 2011, DOLPHIN TALE 2 soon will hit theatres this Summer. Starring Ashley Judd, Harry Connick Jr., Morgan Freeman, Mae Whitman and Kris Kristofferson, the heartwarming Sequel follows the Story of a Boy and his efforts to save a Dolphin. Aww!
Official Synopsis:
It has been several years since young Sawyer Nelson (Gamble) and the dedicated Team at the Clearwater Marine Hospital, headed by Dr. Clay Haskett (Connick, Jr.), rescued Winter. With the help of Dr. Cameron McCarthy (Freeman), who developed a unique prosthetic tail for the injured Dolphin, they were able to save her life. Yet their fight is not over. Winter’s Surrogate Mother, the very elderly dolphin Panama, has passed away, leaving Winter without the only Poolmate she has ever known. However, the loss of Panama may have even greater repercussions for Winter, who, according to USDA regulations, cannot be housed alone, as Dolphins’ social behaviour requires them to be paired with other Dolphins. Time is running out to find a companion for her before the team at Clearwater loses their beloved Winter to another Aquarium.

’80s Teen Idol Molly Ringwald is known best for her iconic roles as a Muse to John Hughes‘ Films like Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles. With Music now more her focus, Ringwald‘s reason of visit is her latest Jazz disc Except Sometimes, showing she equally applies herself to anything she puts her mind to.
Performing tomorrow night at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts, Fans will have a chance to connect with her as she performs selections from her Disc, including a cover of Simple Minds‘ Don’t You Forget About Me, made famous by Sixteen Candles. The Track is the only contemporary Track on the Disc which features American Songbook selections.
A Notoriously Fan-shy Ringwald, sporting a blonde Pixie Cut, opted sadly not to greet Fans waiting for her outside CITY‘s Breakfast Television, having Security Guards advise she was in a rush. It is reported she took a secret entrance to her KISS 92.5 appearance on the Roz & Mocha Show.
“I dont know if could’ve done it”, she says to Roz & Mocha about being famous and young in the age of the Internet. “You have to be really, really strong.”.
There are still tickets left for Ringwald‘s Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts. Click here for more.
If she could turn back time, you probably would notice she really hasn’t aged. It has always been a life dream of mine to see Cher in-concert and after kicking myself for missing her Farewell Tour, it is as if the gods opened up the clouds from the heavens and shined a light upon me, giving me one last chance to see her finally on this current round, the Dressed to Kill (D2K) Tour. I really wasn’t planning on going anywhere tonight other than to stay at home resting, but a Guardian Angel made it all possible for me.
Rather than making this an incoherent Post of “gaa“s, “OMG“s and happy sobbing ad nauseum, I will contain my composure for a quick moment to tell you that at age 67, Cher certainly still has got it. Her vocals were powerful and she certainly can still pack a punchline judging by the Audience’s reactions to her foul-mouthed quick wit. Physically, she professes she still can fit into that famous Bob Mackie-designed Outfit immortalized for randy Sailors of future generations to fantasize about in 1989’s If I Could Turn Back Time Video.
Cher‘s Career is nothing short of legendary. She is the only Artist ever to accomplish the feat of a number one Billboard Song in six consecutive decades. “I’ve given then Assh*les the best years of my life and all I get is a 6-pack of Dr. Pepper!”, she jokes. “I’m never coming back, I promise. This is my farewell, farewell, absolutely no doubt-never-going-to-happen-again Tour!” she says, fully aware of the jokes that have circulated about her last Tour allegedly being her last ever. Low and behold, she’s back and she’s more than able, so why the heck not?
Focussing more on newer material tonight including her 2013 Disc Closer to the Truth and selections from 2010’s cult-adored, but critically-panned Burlesque, Cher entertained a packed house at Air Canada Centre with a mixture of Hits, bridged together with prolonged musical interludes, bordering a bit on the ridiculous in terms of wait times. She did however, wow us costume change upon costume change and not many could say it wasn’t worth the wait!
She floated in air like a Saint blessing the Audience with her well wishes. She pumped-us-up in neon with a spirited rendition of Believe. She wowed us in her original If I Could Turn Back Time outfit, which had her Fans hopelessly enthused. Cher even delivered a Tribute to her late Ex-Husband Sonny Bono with I Got You Babe, surely a Song she’d probably rather never have to perform again.
The Oscar Winner started punctually and delivered almost two hours’ worth of eye-popping delight, understanding fully what her Fans expect and could ever want, leaving little to the imagination why they wouldn’t return for another Farewell, Farewell, Farewell Tour. And did I mention Rock Legend Pat Benatar opened the Show? Zipping through a Catalogue of Classics, she had the Audience amped-up in no time as she too prepares for a Summer Tour which will land in these parts.
On a side note, Cher rolled-into Toronto on Sunday from Connecticut, having a low-key weekend in Toronto, remaining at her five-star Hotel most of her stay.
