20th Century Studios has just released the first trailer for “Predator: Badlands,” the newest entry in the “Predator” franchise, directed by Dan Trachtenberg (“Prey”). “Predator: Badlands” opens exclusively in movie theatres on November 7, 2025 in IMAX, 4DX, ScreenX, and premium screens everywhere.
“Predator: Badlands,” which stars Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, is set in the future on a remote planet, where a young Predator (Schuster-Koloamatangi), outcast from his clan, finds an unlikely ally in Thia (Fanning) and embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary. The film is directed by Dan Trachtenberg and produced by John Davis, Dan Trachtenberg, Marc Toberoff, Ben Rosenblatt, Brent O’Connor.
Prime Video today unveiled the trailer for the upcoming Amazon Original documentary, The Sexiest Man in Winnipeg. The film chronicles the extraordinary true story of Steve Vogelsang, a charismatic former sports anchor who transformed from local celebrity to bank robber, sending shockwaves through the Canadian Prairies. The Sexiest Man in Winnipeg will premiere in Canada on Prime Video on May 9, 2025.
When a polite robber carries out a series of odd bank heists, the police investigation takes a sharp turn—pointing to Steve Vogelsang, a garrulous former broadcaster once known as “The Sexiest Man in Winnipeg.” Set against Winnipeg’s frozen streets and familiar faces, Vogelsang’s fall echoes like a news story you can’t quite forget. As the case deepens, a more complex story emerges—one about identity, ego, and the slow unraveling of a man who once had it all.
The documentary is directed by Acadamy Award nominated filmmaker Charlie Siskel (Finding Vivian Maier) and Ben Daughtrey, who also edited the film. Vespucci and Electric Ave produced the film, with Bridie Bischoff, Aaron Barnett, Charlie Siskel, Ben Daughtrey, serving as executive producers, and Johnny Galvin, Daniel Turcan, Will Arnett and Marc Forman serving as producers. The story is based on an unpublished article, written by award winning writer Jordan Michael Smith, who is also a co-producer on the film. The documentary joins the critically acclaimed and award-winning slate of Canadian Amazon Original series and films including TIFF 2024 People’s Choice Documentary Award winner The Tragically Hip: No Dress Rehearsal and TIFF 2023 People’s Choice Documentary Award and Canadian Screen Award-winner Mr. Dressup: The Magic of Make-Believe, Faceoff: Inside the NHL, The Sticky, Luxe Listings: Toronto, LOL: Qui rira le dernier?, Three Pines, Saving Sakic, All or Nothing: Toronto Maple Leafs, The Kids in the Hall, The Lake, LOL: Last One Laughing Canada, and The Unsolved Murder of Beverly Lynn Smith.
Since 2015, Amazon MGM Studios has commissioned over 60 Amazon Original series and films in Canada, including The Man in the High Castle and Upload in British Columbia; The Boys, Reacher, and The Expanse in Ontario; Tales from the Loop in Manitoba; as well as parts of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, The Sticky, Three Pines, and The Voyeurs in Quebec.

Beloved Italian restaurant PIANO PIANO is bringing high-quality Canadian-Italian food and their signature charm to Toronto’s Bloor St. West. Co-founded by Chef Victor Barry, Nikki Leigh McKean and Brendan Piunno, PIANO PIANO has become a staple in the city’s dining scene, known for its innovative
approach to contemporary Italian classics and inviting atmosphere.
The new location is designed by award-winning Design Studio Future Studio, led by Ali McQuaid Mitchell, who were also the masterminds behind PIANO PIANO’s striking Mount Pleasant, Oakville, Colborne, and Piccolo Piano Pizzeria locations. Once again, this all-star team has brought PIANO PIANO’s creative vision to life.
The three-level restaurant combines indulgence and nostalgia, with eclectic & exotic mismatched fabrics, rich gemstone colours, and luxurious textures that transport guests into a vintage world of glitz & glamour. Signature PIANO PIANO touches including statement chandeliers, lush wall coverings, and custom animal print banquettes further elevate the space, all combine to create a unique and
memorable dining experience.
This time around, PIANO PIANO’s fifth location draws inspiration from old-school glamour and vintage aesthetics—from the neighboring restored Deco beauty of the Paradise Theatre to the luxurious ‘rolling palace’ feel of the Orient Express, to the opulence of Classic Hollywood.
“After walking through a new space, we always leave inspired by a new concept, and let it evolve into something bigger than we imagined. “ explains McKean, reflecting on shaping the new location’s signature look & feel. “The long, narrow, light-filled layout here at Bloor is perfect for embracing bold contrasts and showing off beautiful décor, hand-designed carpets, intriguing fabrics and textures, and evoking feelings of ‘wonders from the past’. We always desire to create a dining experience that is
comfortable, intimate, yet also vibrant, that feels like you have stepped into a fantasy – a special escape.”
PIANO PIANO Bloor is the perfect destination for a memorable night out, right next door to the iconic Paradise Theatre. Guests can enjoy the same beloved menu of classic PIANO PIANO dishes and seasonal specials alike, alongside a newly created Pre-Theatre Set Menu tailored for those dining on a tight timeline before catching a show next door at Paradise Theatre.
“Our menu has evolved from our signature pizza and pasta, to Ribeye, Rack of Lamb, Octopus, Lobster, Caviar, Truffles and more! This new restaurant feels like the ultimate setting for guests to feast on all of these tasty & f#kin’ delicious dishes!”says Co-Founder & Chef Victor Barry.
With its striking design, immersive atmosphere, and signature Italian dishes, PIANO PIANO Bloor is set to become a go-to destination for everything from casual dinners to celebratory nights out.
PIANO PIANO Bloor, the 5th location for the restaurant group, is located at 1006 Bloor Street West, Toronto, and will be open every day of the week from 12pm until later, serving lunch, happy hour, dinner, and everything in between.
ABOUT PIANO PIANO
Chef Victor Barry’s insatiable passion for pizza began at a young age, working at his uncle’s pizzeria in Niagara in the early 90s. In 2016, Victor and his wife Nikki Leigh McKean created the original PIANO PIANO on Harbord Street, serving up all things “tasty & f#kin’ delicious,” with re-imagined recipes from Nonna’s cantina with exceptional value, in beautifully designed spaces, keeping Toronto diners lined up for more. In 2017, Barry’s childhood friend Brendan Piunno joined the team, and now, together with Barry and McKean, they own and operate six restaurants: five PIANO PIANO locations (Harbord, Mount Pleasant, Oakville, Colborne Street, and now Bloor) as well as sister restaurant Piccolo Piano Pizzeria. Created in 2020, PIANO PIANO Frozen Pizza has grown to be the largest producer of premium frozen pizza in Canada. Up next for the team are two more PIANO PIANO restaurant locations, opening later in 2025. Stay tuned! Documentaries are about to be front and center once again!
This year’s Hot Docs International Film Festival will screen 113 feature-length Documentaries. The Festival, which runs from April 24 to May 4, 2025 will also feature 169 live screenings on five screens at two venues in Toronto. The two venues this year is their Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema and TIFF Lightbox.
The opening night film is one to keep your eyes on. It’s a Canadian made Doc about the complex history of the country’s 2SLGBTQ+. Other noteworthy docs are Come and See Me in the Good Light, Marlee Matlin: Not Alone Anymore, and Ai Weiwei’s Turandot.
There’s many films to watch over the 10-day festival but the five titles we are most looking forward to viewing are:
The Dating Game: a revealing glimpse into modern China’s hidden demographic crisis, following three long-term bachelors as they attend a seven-day intensive dating camp—their perceived last chance at finding love in a country where millions of men face the unexpected aftermath of the one-child policy. Canadian Premiere. 86 Minutes
An American Pastoral: in small-town Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, a chilling political transformation unfolds as Christian nationalist candidates campaign for control of the local school board. Following the resignation of four moderate Republicans, a vacuum emerges that far-right activists fill eagerly, targeting LGBTQ+ literature and championing white-supremacist ideologies beneath a veneer of upholding religious values. North American Premiere. 120 Minutes
Deaf President Now!: a first-person account of the historical protests of the same name from the students-turned-organizers who came into their own and helped change the way the world saw the Deaf community, in turn advancing the disability rights movement. International Premiere. 100 Minutes
My Missing Aunt: A South Korean filmmaker uncovers the erased existence of her aunt who died by suicide before graduating college. As she confronts family secrets and dating violence, she exposes generations of patriarchal damage inflicted on women to live as “good daughters.” North American Premiere. 78 minutes
Parade: Queer Acts of Love and Resistance: the opening night film allows Canadians to revisit the pivotal moments and courageous actions that ignited Canada’s 2SLGBTQ+ movement. Through rarely seen archival footage and first-person accounts, audiences are brought to the frontlines of the struggle.
Hot Docs ’25 will take over Toronto from April 24 to May 4, 2025. More here.
Check back regularly as we will be sharing reviews of what we saw!
