A subcompact SUV for everyday living! We had the pleasure of test driving the 2026 MAZDA SKYACTIV-G 2.5 TURBO KURO EDITION in what felt like the busiest week in some time! We navigated multiple events like the Amazon Upfront, The Hollywood Reporter Women in Entertainment Canada Gala on Canadian Screen Week, plus delicious tastings, plus star sightings (Hudson Williams, Bruno Mars, Leon Thomas, Michael Buble, Kyle Lowry, Andrea Martin, Brittany Snow, Malin Akerman, and so many more!). We also welcomed a new member into our family! We are going through a lot. So grateful to have this as our sidekick through an unforgettable week!
What makes this CX-30 Kuro Edition so unique is its all-new, style-focused trim level, with darkened exterior styling. You know right off the bat you’re getting something special with its 18″ gloss black alloy wheels, black roof rails, black signature wings, and gloss black Mazda emblems. It comes in an elegant Ceramic Metallic, which is timeless and classic.
Its interior features premium white leatherette seating surfaces, contrasted by grey suede-like fabric inserts, light-grey stitching, and grey trim. It is further elevated with 10-way power driver’s seat with memory and lumbar support, a power moonroof, ambient lighting and a super-sized 10.25″ digital display for navigating. Along with that, it’s equipped with a 12-speaker BOSE premium sound system, making this a sophisticated experiencing sonically and in ambience in your drives.
Looks and nice-to-haves aside, the CX-30 Kuro Edition possesses strength, powered by its SKYACTIV-G 2.5 T with Dynamic Pressure Turbo (DPT) front engine, This is an All-wheel drive, operating at up to 250 horsepower with the push of a button to start the engine. You get a combined (city/highway) fuel economy of 9.3 L/100km (Regular fuel). It is what it is in these times of fluctuating fuel prices.
Enhanced Safety & Convenience features here include: cruise and traffic sSupport (semi-automated steering/speed assist for stop-and-go traffic), brake-controlled limited-slip differential (LSD) enhances traction in slippery conditions. Mazda has a Private e-call feature which will dial you into an emergency centre when you need it. In addition, there’s Stolen Vehicle Assistance as well to help you track your car down.
The CX-30 Kuro Edition‘s also got: Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go function (MRCC with Stop & Go function), Smart City Brake Support Front (SCBS-F), Distance and Speed Alert (DSA), Smart Brake Support Front (SBS-F), Pedestrian Detection (forward sensing), Lane-keep Assist System (LAS), Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), High Beam Control System (HBC), Driver Attention Alert (DAA), Rearview camera (wide angle), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), and Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM). This and an army of air bags to protect you.
Comfort is always a priority with us and the CX-30 Kuro Edition certainly is a cozy ride. For the cooler months, you get heated seating, and both Driver and Passenger have automatic dual-zone climate controls, while rear passengers get vents as well. The steering wheel also has a heated option as well, which is a dream when it is required. We literally go through all the conditions here in Canada.
There are also several intuitive features like its heated exterior mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, strategically-placed privacy tinted glass (rear doors and cargo area), one-touch trunk pop, heads-up display which shows speed limits and where you are in relation to it, helping keep us ticket-free and safe! Our favourite feature though is walk-away locks, and proximity entry because we are lazy and hate fumbling for keys!
Are you ready to take a drive down memory lane? Buckle up! This was a fun adventure in the 2026 MAZDA SKYACTIV-G 2.5 TURBO KURO EDITION!
