We had the great pleasure of reuniting with an old friend in the 2026 Honda HR-V, which is ideal for city driving and efficiency, compared to its more glamorous sibling, the CR-V. It’s powered by a 2.0-litre inline 4-cylinder engine, operating at 158 @ 6500 horsepower, all beginning with a pushbutton start.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more beautiful colour than Honda‘s Nordic Forest Pearl, simply eye-catching, calming, and a colour that I would never grow tired of! You get three driving modes with the HR-V: Normal/ECON/Snow and a fuel economy of 9.1/7.4/8.3 (city/highway/combined) litres/100 km on regular fuel, which is very fair for a subcompact SUV.
If you’re just a single driver with the occasional passenger and hauls to carry, the HR-V is for you with a cargo space of 24.4 cubic feet behind the rear seats. Drivers get six-way seat manual adjustment with heated seating and steering wheel as well.
Despite the HR-V being a bit more modest than the CR-V, it still is loaded with everyday features and we cannot stress how much we appreciate having its walk-away lock and proximity entry. We don’t realize how much we miss this until we don’t actually have it on some of our test drives.
Some noteworthy aesthetics, the HR-V comes with 17″ aluminum-alloy wheels in Pewter Grey, and has honeycomb grilles in the interior for ventilation. We loved its ambient moonroof which surely will come in handy as the weather finally gets warmer. We felt like it rained almost every day during our test drive! Simply unfair! But thankfully, we had rain-sensing wipers and rear window wipers too to manage that in the least.
The HR-V comes with a 9″ colour touchscreen display for you to manage settings, entertainment (four-speaker audio system) and road navigation. It comes with dual climate zone, wireless charging and three USB-C ports, helping keep Driver and passengers connected, comfortable and entertained. As well, the HR-V is Apple CarPlayĀ® and Android Auto™ ready. Parallel parking and reversing are made simple with the HR-V‘s multi-angle rearview camera with dynamic guidelines.
In addition to being equipped with Driver’s and Passenger’s front and side airbags, plus advanced front airbags, and SmartVent™ side airbags, the HR-V comes loaded with safety features. Its Standard Honda SensingĀ® suite includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, cross traffic monitors and blind spot information. Honda is doing its part to keep these roads collision-free. The HR-V also comes with a security system and an immobilizer theft-deterrent system, and of course, it includes childproof rear door locks and also rear seat reminder.
The HR-V was perfect for getting us through a hectic week of engagements in and around the City and would be the choice for many with active lifestyles. Pricing starts at $33,446 CAN.
Here’s a glimpse into our week with the 2026 Honda HR-V. The events we attended. The food we tasted. The stars we saw.
