FANTASTIC BEASTS: THE SECRETS OF DUMBLEDORE debuts atop the Box Office Easter weekend with $44.5 million from 4,208 theatres for Warner Bros. Best opening for the Franchise still goes to 2016’s FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM, debuting with $74.4 million. The latest installment gets 49% on the Tomatometer.
Second goes to SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 with $26.5 million from 4,258 theatres, taking to $116 million in just its second weekend for Paramount Pictures.
In third is THE LOST CITY with $5.8 million from 3,430 theatres for Paramount Pictures. Its domestic run is now at $77 million.
Fourth belongs to EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE which based on fantastic reviews, brings in $5.1 million for A24/Elevation Pictures from 2,220 theatres. It gets 97% on the Tomatometer for directing duo Daniels.
FATHER STU starring Mark Wahlberg opens with $4.7 million for Sony Pictures, from 2,705 theatres. It gets 41% on the Tomatometer.
SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 races its way to #1 in a stellar opening, making $69 million from 4,234 theatres for Paramount Pictures! This bests the $58 million its predecessor made in 2020. It garners 68% on the Tomatometer.
Second belongs to last week’s #1 movie MORBIUS, which earns $10 million for Sony Pictures, a two week total of $56.8 million.
THE LOST CITY lands in third with $9.7 million from 3,797 theatres for Paramount Pictures, a tally of $68.9 million to date.
Michael Bay‘s AMBULANCE debuts in fourth with $8.1 million from 3,412 theatres for Universal Pictures. It gets 69% on the Tomatometer.
THE BATMAN is at the bottom of the Top Five with $6.6 million for Warner Bros., a six week total $358 million.
Marvel‘s MORBIUS has a solid debut taking the spot at the Box Office with $40.8 million for Sony Pictures from 4,268 theatres. Despite only 17% on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer, this did not deter moviegoers from going out to see Jared Leto in his MCU introduction. It was made for $75 million.
In second is THE LOST CITY which reigned last week in its opening. It earns $14.6 million in its sophomore weekend, from 4,253 theatres for Paramount Pictures, a tally of $55.9 million.
Getting third is THE BATMAN with $11.2 million for Warner Bros. Its domestic run has brought it to $349.2 million.
Fourth is UNCHARTED with $3.7 million for Sony Pictures, a total $138.7 million. This has just been announced for an April 26th Digital release and May 10th DVD/Blu-ray release.
RRR – RISE ROAR REVOLT rounds things out with $1.5 million, a two week total of $12.4 million for Sarigama Cinemas.
Nobody brings them to the Movies like Sandra Bullock! THE LOST CITY debuts atop the Box Office with a strong $31 million for Paramount Pictures from 4,253 theatres. The Film has the distinction of the biggest opening for a female-driven Film since the Pandemic started. The Comedy also starring Channing Tatum and Daniel Radcliffe, gets 76% on the Tomatometer.
THE BATMAN is in second this weekend with $20.5 million from 3,967 theatres for Warner Bros. This brings its domestic run to $332 million.
Third spot goes to Bollywood Action/Drama RRR – RISE ROAR REVOLT with $9.5 million from 1,200 theatres for Sarigama Cinemas.
UNCHARTED pulls-in $5 million for Sony Pictures, bringing its total to $133.5 million.
JUJUTSU KAISEN 0: THE MOVIE is fifth with $4.5 million for Funimation, a two week total of $27 million. Very impressive for a niche genre release.
