THE WOMAN IN BLACK 2: ANGEL OF DEATH earns $15 million for Relativity Media/eOne Films in its debut from 2,602 theatres, placing fourth. Its 2012 Predecessor starring Daniel Radcliffe bests this Sequel slightly with its $20 million opening, placing second. Â Audiences gave the Film a C CinemaScore, while Critics gave it a 24% on the Tomatometer.
Meanwhile, Oscar Contender THE IMITATION GAME continues to perform strongly in limited release with $8.3 million earned this weekend from 754 theatres, good enough for eighth spot.

For the second week in-a-row, THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES reigns supreme at the Box Office, prevailing even over an onslaught of strong Christmas releases with $40 million from 3,875 theatres for Warner Bros. Â In two weeks the Finale to The Hobbit Trilogy, has grossed $167.5 million.
Despite a strong opening, topping Christmas Day ticket sales at the Box Office, Angelina Jolie‘s UNBROKEN alas places second this weekend with $33.3 million from 3,131 theatres for Universal Pictures. INTO THE WOODS debuts a strong third with $32.6 million from 2,440 theatres for Disney, which is all the more impressive considering it is playing in 800 less theatres than the top two finishers this weekend. Oscar Contender THE IMITATION GAME expands to 747 theatres for Elevation Pictures/The Weinstein Co., earning a healthy $7.9 million in its fifth week out.
WILD also continues to perform well in just 1,285 theatres with $5.1 million for Fox Searclight, rounding-out the Top Ten.
The names Billy Magnussen and Mackenzie Mauzy may have you scrambling for the IMDB App on your phone, but come Christmas, millions around the World will fall in love with them. The two Actors are in Toronto for a two-day Press Tour in support of Rob Marshall‘s INTO THE WOODS, which is set to pull-in huge numbers at the Box Office.
Being fresh faces among a v. seasoned and well-recognized Cast surely isn’t an easy challenge, but the Pair who play the Prince and Rapunzel in the Brothers Grimm Pastiche strung together by the Music of Stephen Sondheim, actually are quite great. Â Fans of the Broadway Music on which this Film Adaptation is based and Movielovers will be delighted by some phenomenal performances by the likes of Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Anna Kendrick, James Corden, Emily Blunt, Chris Pine and several more! Â And did we mention just how fantastic Streep is as The Witch? Even she flexes some new muscles here!
Mauzy who is most recognized for her work in Soap Operas like The Bold and the Beautiful and Guiding Light gets the opportunity to utilize her theatre chops and excels. Â Magnussen, whom we met while filming The Divide in Toronto earlier this year, is dashing here and expect big things to come as he appears in Steven Spielberg‘s still-untitled Cold War project starring Tom Hanks.
I caught up with Magnussen and Mauzy on one of their stopoffs, Global Television‘s The Morning Show, where they had a friendly couch chat with Liza Fromer. Â Despite being in a rush to leave, they still took time out to pose for a quick Photo and Mauzy despite her Handler being clear about her one autograph policy, was giving, signing as she walked her way to her Car.

His name probably doesn’t ring a bell just yet, but Billy Magnussen‘s profile is rising fast. Â The New York-born Actor/Songwriter/Singer/Guitarist has an extensive background in Theatre, having made his debut on Broadway in 2007. Did I mention he’s a TONY Award Nominee?
Currently in-town filming eagerly-awaited WEtv Series The Divide from among others, Executive Producers Richard LaGravenese (P.S. I Love You, Beautiful Creatures) and Tony Goldwyn (Scandal, Ghost), he is dividing (pardon the pun) his time between here and New York City – where he plays with his Band Reserved for Rondee.
Magnussen has padded his profile with roles on As the World Turns and Indie Darlings like Damsels in Distress and The Brass Teapot, but his Big Break would appear to be a prominent role in upcoming Musical Into the Woods as Rapunzel’s Prince, opposite Mackenzie Mauzy who of course plays, Rapunzel. Â The Film also stars a few little-known Actors like Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Johnny Depp, Emily Blunt and some Newbie named Meryl Streep.
I spotted the Actor flying back to Toronto tonight and after checking-in with guitar-in-tow, he was amazing to stop for a quick Photo, all smiles. Â Excited to see what’s next for this Rising Star!

Is it safe to assume we’ll all be seeing this Christmas 2014?  Production for Disney‘s upcoming Live-Action Adaptation of the Musical Into the Woods is well under way in London and just released is this first Still featuring MERYL STREEP!
Into the Woods merges Characters from our favourite Brothers Grimm Stories and together they are taught a lesson by a Witch (Meryl Streep), with an original Story centering on a Baker and his Wife whom are cast under her Spell. Â The Witch hopes to reverse a Curse so that her beauty can be restored. Characters include Rapunzel, Cinderella, Jack (of Beanstalk fame) and Little Red Riding Hood. Â
Johnny Depp, Chris Pine, Emily Blunt, Anna Kendrick, Lucy Punch, Tracey Ullman and Christine Baranski also star. Â Yes, it will be that good.
Academy Award-winning Director Rob Marshall (my favourite!) who has time after time stuns our senses with Films like Chicago, Memoirs of a Geisha and NINE, helms the Musical.
