#SPOTTED: ADAM PALLY AT THE CANADIAN POOCH PREMIERE FOR “DOG DAYS”

Known best for his work on high-profile TV Series like Happy Endings and The Mindy Project, Adam Pally is back in Toronto. He last visited in 2016 to promote at the CITY Upfront then-new Series, Making History. The improv-trained Funnyman stars in upcoming Romantic-Comedy DOG DAYS as Dax, an aspiring musician tasked with caring for his sister’s dog as she prepares to birth twins.  While reluctant to do so at first, we see him bond with the dog, find himself and grow closer to his sister through it all. Actor/Writer/Director Ken Marino helms the Film, and Pally admits to being a huge fan of his for many years.

Billy and I had the pleasure of attending the Canadian Pooch Premiere (a first of its kind in the country) of the charming, delightful Comedy with concurrent story lines and a popular Cast including Finn Wolfhard, Tig Notaro, Nina Dobrev, Eva Longoria, Rob Corddry, Vanessa Hudgens and several more. Elevation Pictures, Bumble and Save Our Scruff teamed-up to present the night which gave dog-owning Film Lovers a chance to bring their canine companions into TIFF Bell Lightbox for a night at the Movies, followed by a Q&A with Pally moderated by Cineplex’s Tanner Zipchen.

Earlier in the evening, attendees had a chance to meet some lovable dogs up for adaption through Save Our Scruff, a non-profit dog rescue and rehome charity at a pre-party held just down the road at David Pecaut Square. Guests were greeted with swag, refreshments (human and doggy) and music prior to heading over to the Premiere. Learn more about Save Our Scruff here.

Pally came armed with a sense of humour seeing over 50 animal attendees in the audience and on the green carpet which he was a great sport about it all, posing for pics. He tells the audience during the introduction, “If you like it, please Instagram or Tweet about. I realize many of you here are dogs, so it’s kind of a moot point.”. He adds, “We rely on bark of mouth. So if those dogs could Tweet – I don’t know what Dog Twitter is like, that’d be great!”.

On what drew him to the Film, Pally says tongue-in-cheek, “It’s a thrill for me to be in a movie that people could take their dog to see”. “Even more, I’m a dad of young, fat babies. I think it’s nice to be in a movie I can take them to see as I don’t usually get to do that.”. He likely was referring to among others, 2016’s profanity fest Dirty Grandpa.

Pally is no stranger to Toronto, telling the audience, “I love it here. It’s like ‘Clean Chicago’. The people here are so great and the city has so much culture. I would shoot anything here.”.  When asked by Zipchen if he’d film a Sequel to Dog Days in Toronto, he was quick to dismiss it,”That’ll be a hard pass”, drawing laughter from the crowd.

He also admits to being more a dog person in real life. “I’m not a cat person. I don’t like cats. They’re not loyal to me. They are spies. I feel like cats spread fake news. I don’t trust cats.”
