Netflix has unveiled a refreshed version of the Netflix in Your Neighbourhood website today, with new features including a fully integrated map, a new events page that includes a newsletter subscription for fans, and improved search filters, making it easier than ever to navigate over 45 titles showcasing Canada’s stunning landscapes and vibrant communities.
The website was launched three years ago to help fans explore Canadian filming locations featured in their favourite Netflix movies and shows. Visitors can now search filming locations by title, city, or province and they can access directions to these destinations and see how the locations have been featured on Netflix.
The new newsletter feature will keep fans up-to-date with all the latest happenings, from local events in their city to news across the country. Anyone can subscribe at this link.
In addition to these updates, filming locations have been added for four movies and shows now available on Netflix—The Madness, Meet Me Next Christmas, Hot Frosty and Geek Girl—spotlighting culinary hotspots, cozy accommodations, cultural landmarks and Instagram-worthy waypoints across Toronto, Hamilton, Dundas, Oshawa, Brockville, and Ottawa.
More about the newly added titles:
THE MADNESS – In this limited series, media pundit Muncie Daniels (Colman Domingo) must fight for his innocence and his life after he stumbles upon a murder deep in the Poconos woods. As the walls close in, Muncie strives to reconnect with his estranged family – and his lost ideals – in order to survive. The Madness was filmed in Toronto and surrounding areas including Hamilton, Dundas and Oshawa.
GEEK GIRL – In this comedy series, Harriet Manners’ life is turned upside down when she’s thrust into the world of fashion. Tightly wound agents, off-beat designers, impossibly high heels, a cute supermodel with a great smile, Harriet has no idea what she’s in for. Geek Girl was filmed in Ontario’s capital city of Ottawa. HOT FROSTY – This holiday movie follows widow Kathy, who magically brings a handsome snowman to life two years after losing her husband. Through his naïveté, the snowman helps Kathy to laugh, feel and love again, as the two fall for each other just in time for the holidays … and before he melts. Hot Frosty was filmed in Brockville and Ottawa.
MEET ME NEXT CHRISTMAS – In pursuit of a fairytale romance with the man of her dreams, Layla must race through New York City to get her hands on the hottest ticket in town: the sold out Pentatonix Christmas Eve Concert. This instant holiday classic was shot in Toronto.
