In the face of death, plague, and pestilence, how did our ancestors fight to survive? A new Super Channel Quest Canadian original series sets out to find the answers. Premiering Friday, June 12, 2026 at 9 PM ET, Mysteries of Ancient Medicine (10 x 44 min), explores the astonishing, ingenious, and sometimes shocking ways ancient civilizations approached health, healing, and survival. The series kicks off with a two-episode premiere followed by new episodes weekly. Each episode will be available On Demand the same day.
From abracadabra to Ayurveda, ancient amputations to toxic tinctures, the series unearths the medical practices, tools, and beliefs that shaped humanity’s first attempts at staying alive – revealing how some of these early ideas echo in modern medicine today.
Produced by Go Button Media, the series features a cadre of experts from historians to archeologists, neuroscientists and medical professionals, and examines the latest in historical discoveries of ancient medical practices. Including the mysterious 3000-year-old Cairo toe, pirate ‘cures’, Roman battlefield medics, and stone age head surgeries.
“Mysteries of Ancient Medicine takes viewers on a fascinating journey through the resourceful, and sometimes surprising, ways our ancestors approached health and survival,” said Kim Ball, EVP, Content & Communications, Super Channel. “We’re very pleased to be partnering again with Go Button Media, long-time collaborators whose thoughtful approach to history-driven storytelling continues to resonate with Super Channel Quest audiences.”
