Summer’s here and we couldn’t think of a better way to relish the sun than with the sporty and flashy red 2021 HONDA CIVIC 5D SPORT TOURING! We had the thrill of test driving this eye-catching Rallye Red ride for the weekend and true to form, it packs in value and excitement into a sleek package!

With our province in Phase One of our reopening, it is important to support our local economy as safely as possible and even if it’s just picking-up some necessities or seeing some friendly faces again, we’re just so thrilled the 2021 Honda Civic 5D Sport Touring was there for us.

I’m so proud of Ontarians for pitching-in to get our vaccination rates up and our case rates down as we edge ever so close to a semblance of normality. We hope your Father’s Day weekend was wonderful, and hope you got to spend time with your families.

This car is powered by a 1.5-litre, 16-valve, Direct Injection, DOHC, turbocharged 4-cylinder, running on 180 @ 5500 (MT) horsepower. It is great for highway and city driving, but would be strong enough to handle rural roads. Our travels take us allover the City and into the country and its versatility makes it an ideal match for us.

Fuel prices since our last test drive have skyrocketed so Fuel Economy definitely is on our minds of late. The 2021 Honda Civic 5D Sport Touring operates best on Premium fuel. While we found ourselves re-filling our thank more frequently, its 8.0 / 6.6 / 7.4 L/100 km (City/Highway/Combined) Fuel Economy still is heads and shoulders above other cars in its class. We love ECON mode as it maximizes efficiency, reducing the amount of fuel injected inside the engine, helping us get the most of our drive.

While we get that many of you love heat and humidity, we’re on the exact opposite end of the spectrum, loving cool, icy drinks in our abundance of cupholders and A/C in the Summer. The car has a powerful Climate Control system, allowing Driver and Passenger to customize temperature on each side. In no time, we were enjoying that cool breeze in that unforgiving weekend heat. While there aren’t Seat Coolers for these gorgeous leather seats (Driver’s Seat adjustable eight ways), we appreciate Seat Warmers in cooler months and those would come in handy in the blink of an eye as the seasons change so suddenly in Ontario.

The Audio System here is actually quite gratuitous as this is an important piece of our daily drives. Its 542-watt AM/FM Premium Audio System comes with MP3/Windows Media® Audio playback capability and 12 speakers including Subwoofer. Bluetooth was reliable and easy to our phone and for some of those long drives, SiriusXM is such a joy to have. Two USB Connectors are more than generous, considering we also get an awesome Wireless Charging plate as well meaning we can listen to our Spotify Playlists and get help navigating while not being worried our phone will run out of battery.

Honda honestly has market won with its Display Audio System, so easy to navigate and just looks gorgeous. You get its Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ with bilingual Voice Recognition. The display shows its Multi-angle rearview camera with dynamic guidelines and also assists when you’re changing lines to ensure you’re in the clear before moving over. We no longer struggle with backing-out or Parallel Parking with this feature saving our life.

In terms of safety, there is no detail spared by Honda. No matter which model you purchase, you can be at peace knowing that you are getting the best protection and prevention. Honda has calculated all the risks and worst case scenarios for you to ensure you are prepared. Features include: 4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist, Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS®) (HS*), Forward Collision Warning (FCW) system (HS*), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) system (HS*), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA®) with Traction Control, Honda LaneWatch™ blind spot display, Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) (HS*), i-SRS airbag system (front), Side Curtain Airbags with rollover sensor system, HondaLink™ Assist Automatic Emergency Response System. While they can be clumsy for our adult passengers, Child Locks do what they are supposed to do in the back seats.

The car seats five people comfortably with plenty of room in its hatchback for cargo. We adore Proximity Entry, making it super-easy for us when our hands are full, which actually is often! (See above)

While the Start Engine button is a bit clumsy requiring a few tries sometimes to start things up, I have no real glitches to report with this ride. Would gladly do it all again!

Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts will have her own show coming soon to Disney+! TURNING THE TABLES WITH ROBIN ROBERTS arrives Wednesday, July 28, 2021.

Synopsis:

In each episode, Roberts sits down with three famous women who share experiences that are both personal and moving. As the show’s title suggests, the guests often “turn the tables” and interview Roberts and each other in heartfelt and often humorous conversations that showcase authenticity and vulnerability. Guests include Debbie Allen, Sofia Carson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jenna Dewan, Sheila E., Melissa Etheridge, Mickey Guyton, Betsey Johnson, Billie Jean King, Tig Notaro, Raven-Symoné and Josie Totah.

One unique thing about this show is that its Executive Producers are comprised of comprised of women, BIPOC and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Hollywood Suite is pleased to announce a partnership with Women in Film & Television Toronto (WIFT Toronto) to launch the WIFT Indigenous Writers Program.

The free, intensive four-day program will include two full-time mentors, industry guest speakers, case studies, writing and pitching workshops, and peer-to-peer mentorship. By engaging key partners including industry leaders, experienced creators, writers, broadcasters, funders and more, the program aims to bring the best education and career opportunities to Indigenous creators whose stories need to be heard.

The application portal will open on August 9, 2021, and all WIFT Toronto members who are First Nations, Métis, or Inuit are encouraged to apply. Applicants who are First Nations, Métis, or Inuit who do not currently have a WIFT Toronto membership may still apply. Anyone chosen for the program that is not a member will be granted a one-year complimentary membership thanks to donations made to the Foundation for WIFT Toronto.

Detailed information on the program including the application process and deadlines will be available shortly.

JUNETEENTH is a day that has historically recognized the perseverance and power of the Black community.

Over the last two years, taking time to recognize and reflect on this holiday has only gained added significance.

Black art, and Black storytelling in particular, provides audiences the opportunity to see both the reality and the possibility of Black lives in America.

Candyman first appeared on film in Bernard Rose’s 1992 cult classic as a vengeful, mystical entity, a victim of a brutal hate crime who externalizes his pain in the same community that once turned against him.

Nia DaCosta found inspiration to bring Candyman into a new age. As director of this year’s CANDYMAN, she has created a film rooted in horror that reframes the Candyman legend with new urgency.

Produced by Jordan Peele, this film is an exciting, terrifying, entertaining, scary-as-hell horror film that also speaks to the movement and momentum of Black lives now.

It’s been a minute since we’ve checked-in with our Princess (A PIC BY MRWILL) and Prince William (MR WILL)! With this lockdown in effect, it’s definitely limited opportunities for us to see them in-person. But we’re thrilled we’ve entered Phase One of Ontario’s reopening, meaning racing’s back! We were so thrilled to be at Woodbine‘s opening day last week and even more excited about the stakes-filled action this weekend.

MR WILL couldn’t be any better and under the guidance of ’emmazing’ Emma-Jayne Wilson, he’s ready to fire. His focus right now really is finishing strong, as he showed some opportunities for improvement last season, coming close to the win a few times. Expect a very big run from him in his 2021 debut, which will take place race two this Sunday, June 19, 2021 at Woodbine. His Owner/Trainer Michelle Love tells us he’s extremely sharp and it’s been all about keeping him fit and not peaking too soon with the shifts in dates of the racing season. He was so ready to win in April!

Our dear Princess (A PIC BY MRWILL) has been enjoying her first Spring living outdoors. We almost couldn’t believe our eyes when her Owner Emily Fisher posted this picture of her. She looks strong, healthy and check-out those dapples! Emily swears by Princess’ Purina Feed Program and we can totally see the results. So happy for her and was thrilled to get a moment to catch-up with her. She was so content grazing on grass, her girls nickering at her to come back in with them as they missed her while she was out hanging out with beanie and me.

A huge congrats goes also to Emily as she just got her certification to be an Assistant Trainer. Currently she is working in the barn of up-and-coming Trainer Cole Bennett.

Was so awesome seeing chickens at the Fishers‘ Farm! This one is fittingly-named Smoky!

And was so great catching-up with jockey Keveh Nicholls, who also is Emily’s partner, as he head off to ride Friday’s Woodbine card. As you might recall, we won a Sovereign Award in April and the photograph we took was of Nicholls winning on one of his regular mounts, Mambointheforest. Had to break-out the Award for a Photo Op as the Award is just as much his!

Thrilled our case numbers continue to trend downwards as the province continues to see its vaccination rates soar. Never thought we’d make it! Really hoping by the end of Summer we will be back at the races in-person again with you! Cocktails at Woodbine Club?

Paul Rudd and Will Ferrell star in upcoming Limited Series THE SHRINK NEXT DOOR. Here’s your first look at the new Trailer!

Inspired by true events, “The Shrink Next Door” details the bizarre relationship between psychiatrist to the stars Dr. Isaac “Ike” Herschkopf (played by Rudd) and his longtime patient Martin “Marty” Markowitz (played by Ferrell). Over the course of their relationship, the all-too-charming Ike slowly inserts himself into Marty’s life, even moving into Marty’s Hamptons home and persuading Marty to name him president of the family business.
