Synopsis: From Shondaland and Jess Brownell, BRIDGERTON returns for a fairy-tale inspired fourth season. The tense, sensual thriller A Safe Distance, directed by Vancouver-based filmmaker Gloria Mercer in her feature debut, will have its World Premiere at the 2026 SXSW Film & TV Festival in the Narrative Spotlight program.
Written by Aidan West and produced by Nic Altobelli of Area V5 Pictures alongside Mercer and West through their banner See Horse Films, A Safe Distance is a slow-burn thriller set against the isolation of the Pacific Northwest wilderness.
In the film, a young woman abandoned by her boyfriend in a remote forest encounters a pair of notorious fugitives. As she forms an unexpected bond with them, shifting loyalties and dangerous desires pull her into a volatile triangle from which there may be no safe escape.
The film stars Bethany Brown (Murder in a Small Town, F*** Marry Kill), Chris McNally (When Calls the Heart, Supernatural), Cody Kearsley (Riverdale, Virgin River), and Tandia Mercedes (Allegiance).
Shot in British Columbia, A Safe Distance builds on Mercer and West’s acclaimed 2021 short of the same name, expanding its intimate psychological tension into a feature-length exploration of power, vulnerability, and survival.

A Safe Distance has been acquired for Canadian distribution by Vortex Media. The film was funded by the Canada Council for the Arts, and Creative BC and produced with the support of Keslow Camera, Sunbelt Rentals, Maverick Post and UBCP/ACTRA.

The three films based on Mercedes Ron’s New York Times best-selling book trilogy were number one in more than 170 countries at launch, with over 90% of viewers coming from outside Spain.

The development deal is part of Prime Video’s collaboration dubbed the ‘House of Ron’, which includes 10 book-to-screen adaptations. Alongside the news, Clemens also released the Top 10 most-watched non-English language International Originals from the last year that saw record-breaking viewership worldwide. Five different countries feature in the Top 10 charts of International Originals, reflecting the diverse viewing habits and increased viewership of international programming with audiences globally.

Talking about The House of the Spirits: “It’s an amazing adaptation, it’s very respectful, it holds so much admiration from everyone that’s been in it that I think that really comes through in the work. I think everyone is very conscious about the story we wanted to tell, the costumes, the makeup, everything is so beautiful, I think it’s one of the most amazing sets I’ve ever been in.”
Speaking about the comparison between her roles in the Culpables and Postcards from Italy: “There really is none (similarities). Mia is the idea we have of a New York girl that has a lot of money and can do whatever she wants with her life and Noah is the opposite, she comes from a very humble home and it’s obviously a very different cultural context, and I think that’s what I really like about Postcards from Italy, that crash between Italy and the US.”
As part of a fireside chat on Masterplan, Stanley Tucci said: “I thought it was one of the best characters I’ve ever read and I was thrilled to be asked to play it, it’s an actor’s dream. The international cast are great, Victor is a wonderful actor, Simona is wonderful and Thomas is an accomplished director, and the locations are stunning and has everything you could want.”

Prime Video today announced the premiere date and key art for highly-anticipated Canadian Prime Original series, Vitrerie Joyal (The Glass House). Created by Martin Matte and directed by Guillaume Lonergan (Empathie, Audrey est revenue), the six-part limited series will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on May 1. As announced by Series Mania this morning, the series has been officially selected as the closing night gala, where it will make its world premiere on March 27 in Lille, France. Martin Matte, director Guillaume Lonergan and cast members Pier-Luc Funk, Pierre-Yves Roy-Desmarais, Marilyse Bourke, Florence Longpré, Guillaume Cyr, and François Chénier will be in attendance.

The comedy-drama, Vitrerie Joyal (The Glass House), takes viewers to the heart of Quebec in the ’90s, a pivotal period when the province oscillated between tradition and modernity. Through the destiny of a first-generation Quebec entrepreneur, who started from nothing to build a prosperous business, an entire era is revealed, between ambition, hope and disillusionment. Alongside Martin Matte, who stars as André Joyal, a character inspired by his father’s life, the series features Pier-Luc Funk, Pierre-Yves Roy-Desmarais, Marilyse Bourke, Florence Longpré, Guillaume Cyr, François Chénier, Steve Laplante, Rémi-Pierre Paquin, Sam Breton, and Marcel Leboeuf.
Filmed entirely in Montreal with a crew of more than 150 Québec film professionals, Vitrerie Joyal (The Glass House) is written by Martin Matte in collaboration with François Avard and co-produced by Encore Télévision and Matte TV for Amazon MGM Studios.

Last month LeMac released a stripped-down version of her acclaimed EP It’s Always At Night with acoustic versions of each track – listen to It’s Always At Night Acoustic. The EP features “Pink Balloon”, “Sleeping with The Lights On,” along with her single “Running Home” which continues to grow, and debuted on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 chart last week, and is currently sitting within the Top 20 on both the HOT AC and Top 40 radio in Canada.

Jade LeMac has a magnifying glass on pop music’s soul. With the strength of her pen, the Vancouver-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist paints a melodic world that embraces all the vulnerable layers many choose to hide.
