True to form, KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE builds upon its Franchise’s success with a #1 debut for 20th Century Fox. The star-studded Sequel earns $38.3 million in its debut from 4,003 theatres across North America. It earns 51% from Critics on the Tomatometer and a B+ CinemaScore. Its Predecessor from 2015 earned $36 million in its debut.
IT after two weeks on-top slips to second with $29.1 million, still a strong showing in its third week out for Warner Bros. It has made $265 million over three weeks.
THE LEGO NINJAGO MOVIE debuts in third with $21 million for Warner Bros. from 4,047 theatres. It gets 53% from Critics on the Tomatometer and a B+ CinemaScore.
AMERICAN ASSASSIN is in fourth with $6.1 million in its second week out for Lionsgate Films/eOne Films, a total $26 earned domestically.
The highly-divisive mother! earns $3 million for Paramount Pictures in week two of release, a total $13.1 million grossed thus far.
FRIEND REQUEST debuts in eight for D Films/Entertainment Studios in 2,569 theatres with $1.8 million. It gets 20% on the Tomatometer and a C+ CinemaScore.
WIND RIVER rounds-out the Top Ten with $1.3 million from 1,431 theatres for The Weinstein Co./VVS Films. The successful Indie over eight weeks has accumulated $31.7 million in earnings.
With the end of Summer near, Moviegoers have a lot on their minds. THE HITMAN’S BODYGUARD however is strong enough to overcome and for a third straight week hits the top of the Box Office earning $9.4 million this Labour Day weekend for from 3,370 theatres for VVS Films/Lionsgate Films. To date it has earned $54.8 million domestically.
Former champ ANNABELLE: CREATION continues is rampage of Horror, in second with $6.9 million from 3,358 theatres for Warner Bros. It has made $90 million to date in North America. The studio is projecting another huge weekend next week with yet another scary release in Stephen King’s IT.
WIND RIVER continues to perform well in third spot now in its fifth week, earning $5.7 million for The Weinstein Company/VVS Films. In total it has made $16.6 million over five weeks.
LEAP! in its second week out earns $4.7 million The Weinstein Company, a total $13 million grossed thus far, placing it fourth.
LOGAN LUCKY drives steadily in fifth spot with $4.1 million for eOne Films/Bleecker Street Films. It has thus far earned $21.1 million over three weeks despite raves critically and an all-star cast.
GIRLS TRIP rounds-out the Top Ten with $2.1 million, in its seventh week out, now having made $111.9 million for Universal Pictures.
It’s a really slow weekend at the Box Office this weekend but repeating again at #1 is THE HITMAN’S BODYGUARD with $10.4 million from 3,377 theatres for Lionsgate Films/VVS Films. Over two weeks it earns $40 million in North America.
ANNABELLE: CREATION lands in second again this weekend with $7.7 million for Warner Bros., a three-week total of $78 million for the Doll Horror.
LEAP! debuts in third spot for The Weinstein Co. with $4.8 million from 2,575 theatres. The Animated Feature hasn’t yet opened in Canada. It gets 37% on the Tomatometer and an A CinemaScore.
WIND RIVER continues to roll, expanding to 2,095 theatres with $3.9 million, a total $9.5 million grossed for the acclaimed Thriller.
BIRTH OF THE DRAGON debuts in seventh with $2.7 million for BH Tilt from 1,618 theatres. It gets 27% on the Tomatometer and an B CinemaScore.
THE EMOJI MOVIE rounds-out the Top Ten with $1.9 million for Sony Pictures. Over five weeks it has just suprassed $75 million domestically.
It’s a hit! The Hitman’s Bodyguard fires at number one in its opening with $21 million from 3,377 theatres for VVS Films/Lionsgate Films. The Action-Comedy starring Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L Jackson gets 40% on the Tomatometer and a B+ CinemaScore.
Still going strong is ANNABELLE: CREATION with $14.3 million from 3,542 theatres for Warner Bros. in its second week out, totaling $62.8 million thus far. Over two weeks, it has earned $155 million domestically.
In third is former champ DUNKIRK with $7.3 million for Warner Bros. In total, it has made $166 million in five weeks across North America.
In fourth in its debut is Stephen Soderbergh‘s star-studded LOGAN LUCKY with a $7.2 million from 3,031 theatres for eOne Films. It gets an impeccable 93% on the Tomatometer and a B CinemaScore.
GIRLS TRIP takes right spot with $3.8 million from 2,040 theatres in its fifth week for Universal Pictures. It has just surpassed the $100 million-mark.
Rounding out the Top Ten is well-reviewed WIND RIVER with $3.2 million for VVS Films/The Weinstein Co., expanding to 694 theatres this week.
