Synopsis:
Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy. Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension. From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters. Cruise is joined by a cast including Annabelle Wallis (upcoming King Arthur, television’s Peaky Blinders), Jake Johnson (Jurassic World), Courtney B. Vance (TV’s American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson) and Oscar® winner Russell Crowe (Gladiator).

We’re only vaguely familiar with CINEMACON, the Event held in Las Vegas, now in its fifth year celebrating the Moviegoing experience. Organized by the Event is known as the official Convention of The National Association of Theatre Owners and all we know is that’s where we need to be right now!
Paramount Pictures got the excitement off with a bang bringing-out two of the biggest Megastars on Earth, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Tom Cruise, out for The State of the Industry: Past, Present and Future, highlighting the Studio’s 2015 Summer Releases! The former stars in Terminator: Genisys, while the latter in Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation. The starpower is explosive!
There also have been sightings of the likes of Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Tom Hardy and Henry Cavill milling about Caesars Palace! Exciting.

We do love our Tom Cruise. A new Teaser for the newly-named fifth installment of MISSION IMPOSSIBLE has just been released and we’re loving every minute of its two minutes. There’s humour thanks to Simon Pegg (camouflaged as a bush!), adrenaline (that plane door better open quick, Tom!) and the Franchise’s signature style – set to The Fugees’ Ready or Not – and that’s why Fans keep coming back for more!

Surprise! I mean, really! Jaws dropped as Hollywood Megastar Tom Cruise descended upon Toronto arriving unannounced at a Screening tonight of his latest Blockbuster, Edge of Tomorrow. Cruise, triple Academy Award Nominee and still today one of Cinema’s most bankable Stars is known for a litany of Box Office and Critical Smashes like World War Z, Magnolia, Mission: Impossible, A Few Good Men, Rain Man, Jerry Maguire, Top Gun, Cocktail, Risky Business and several, several more.
After an unbelievable Press Tour yesterday which saw him in one day visit London, New York and Paris, he certainly couldn’t leave-out his beloved Canadian Fans. Did you know he once lived in Ottawa even?
Watch him introduce Edge of Tomorrow to an ultra-exclusive invite-only audience which had no idea he would be there!
Security indeed was beefed-up which was the only indicator the Screening might have been out-of-the-ordinary. Suspicions grew rampant as soon as a Red Carpet was seen set up last minute with only a few Canadian outlets on-site at Scotiabank Theatre.
Edge of TOMorrow (Sorry! We had to do that at least once!) centers on a Soldier fighting a War against Aliens but caught in a time loop on his final day of battle. Emily Blunt also stars opposite Cruise.
Watch the Trailer below:
Of course it wouldn’t be a Toronto visit for a Celebrity without the requisite photo with Mr. Will! We had to ask amidst the sea of Selfie-Seekers and despite it not turning out the first time, Cruise was amazing to own it and snap our Selfie for us. A great sport! We’ve waited our whole life to meet Tom Cruise and the moment was a dream. Our favourite Tom Cruise, you ask? I’d have to say his Rock God Stacee Jaxx performance in the underrated Rock of Ages!

My love for Nicole Kidman knows no limits, so you can image the loud squeal of delight I let-out after discovering that she had landed the plum Cover for the December 2013 Issue of VANITY FAIR – just our first taste of the promotional machine that will soon be in high-gear for her Oscar Vehicle, GRACE OF MONACO. This is the Goddess’ SEVENTH time covering the Magazine and she reveals more than ever before about her relationships with Tom Cruise and Keith Urban to Contributing Editor, Sam Kashner.
Kidman dishes that she needed to grow-up and maybe wasn’t ready to be in a marriage at age 23. She says, “And you know, with no disrespect to what I had with Tom, I’ve met my great love now. And I really did not know if that was going to happen. I wanted it, but I didn’t want it for a while, because I didn’t want to jump from one relationship to another. I had a lot of time alone, which was really, really good, because I was a child, really, when I got married. And I needed to grow up.”.
She also draws a parallel between her and Cruise in the ’90s as being similar to what Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are facing now. “There is something about that sort of existence that, if you really focus on each other and you’re in that bubble, it’s very intoxicating, because it’s just the two of you. And there is only one other person that’s going through it. So it brings you very close, and it’s deeply romantic. I’m sure Brad and Angelina have that—because there’s nobody else that understands it except that person who’s sleeping right next to you”, she says.
Kidman seems at-peace with herself and settled in her life with Family in Nashville and this warms my heart immensely. Read the Interview here.

Neither a Divorce nor a Scientology Scandal could stop him. Tom Cruise is a bona fide Cinematic Legend, topping the Box Office once again this weekend with his latest, Oblivion, which earns a stellar $38.2 million for Universal Pictures, from 3,783 theatres. Reviews were mixed from Critics, earning 58% on the Tomatometer, and Audiences responded with a B- CinemaScore. Getting a head-start internationally last week, the Film has grossed over $60 million overseas already.
Even in its second week, the superb 42 continues to go strong for Warner Bros., earning $18 million after debuting on-top last week. The Film got a bit of a push Monday with it being Jackie Robinson Day and with that A+ CinemaScore, it should continue to go well for the next few weeks with lots of positive word-of-mouth.
In third this weekend is The Croods with $9.5 million, benefiting overall from a lack of other Family-oriented Films out right now. Domestically it has just surpassed the $150-million mark.
Scary Movie 5 still manages to maintain in the Top Five with $6.3 million in its second week, just ahead of G.I. JOE: Retaliation with $5.8 million in its fourth week.
The Place Beyond the Pines expands to 1,542 theatres for Focus Features/eOne Films this weekend in sixth and does respectably with $4.7 million, now earning a total of $11.3 million in its run thus far. Reviews are strong, tallying in at 81% on the Tomatometer.
With no other new entries in the Top Ten this weekend, Oz The Great and Powerful rounds-out the Top Ten with $3 million for Disney.
