#SPOTTED: TORONTO PREMIERE OF HBO’S “THE SYMPATHIZER”
So much buzz surrounding A24 and HBO‘s THE SYMPATHIZER, which is based on the Pullitzer Prize-winning Novel by Viet Thanh Nguyen. The Limited Series not only is co-produced by among others Don McKellar and Robert Downey Jr., the latter also stars in it as well! And did we mention Canada’s Sandra Oh also has a role?
A Toronto Premiere was held last night at TIFF Lightbox and in attendance were:
•Mayor Olivia Chow
•Hoa Xuande as the Captain
•Fred Nguyen Khan as Bon
•Duy Nguyễn as Man
•Kieu Chinh as Major’s Mother
Legendary Filmmaker David Cronenberg also came out to show support!
THE SYMPATHIZER centers on a plant from North Vietnam in South Vietnam army, just at the end of the Vietnam War. He flees to the US, where he still continues to report back to the Viet Cong.
