It’s expected to be a slow weekend at the Box Office, but at #1 a second straight week is ARGYLLE with $6.6 million from 3,605 theatres for Universal Pictures/Apple Studios. Over two weekends it has grossed $28.9 million domestically.
Second is LISA FRANKENSTEIN, debuting with $4 million from 3,144 theatres for Focus Features/Universal Pictures. Critics were divided at 50% on the Tomatometer with this latest effort from Writer Diablo Cody, which stars Cole Sprouse and Kathryn Newton.
Third goes to THE BEEKEEPER with $3.4 million from 3,057 theatres for Amazon MGM Studios/VVS Films. Its run comes to $54.6 million, continuing to exceed expectations.
Fourth is WONKA with $3.1 million from 2,764 theatres, a total $205 million grossed for Warner Bros. over nine weekends.
In fifth is MIGRATION with $3 million, a tally of $110 million for Universal Pictures over eight weekends.
Once again, it’s MEAN GIRLS on-top a third straight week. It brings in $6.7 from 3,544 theatres for Paramount Pictures on a slower weekend, taking its tally to $60.2 million.
In second is THE BEEKEEPER with $6.4 million from 3,337 theatres for VVS Films/Amazon MGM Studios, a total $41.3 million grossed.
Third is WONKA with $5.8 million from 3,014 theatres, bringing it to $195 million for Warner Bros. over seven weekends.
Fourth goes to MIGRATION with $5 million from 2,962 theatres for Universal Pictures, now at $101.6 million over six weekends.
Rounding it all out is ANYONE BUT YOU with $4.6 million for Sony Pictures, a total $71 million over six weekends.
For a second week straight, we see MEAN GIRLS on-top at the Box Office with $12.5 million from 3,791 theatres for Paramount Pictures. Over two weeks, this adaptation of the 2004 film and Broadway Musical, has grossed $51.3 million.
In second is THE BEEKEEPER with $7.9 million from 3,303 theatres for VVS Films/MGM/Amazon Studios, bringing its gross to $30 million.
Third is WONKA with $6 million, a total now of $186 million for Warner Bros.
Fourth goes to ANYONE BUT YOU with $5 million, bringing the total to $63.5 million for Sony Pictures.
MIGRATION rounds things out with $4.9 million, a total $94 million for Universal Pictures.
MEAN GIRLS burns its competitors, taking top spot at the Box Office in its debut, taking $29 million from 3,791 theatres for Paramount Pictures. The musical adaptation of the 2004 film, gets 70% on the Tomatometer from Critics. By comparison, its predecessor opened with $24 million.
In second is THE BEEKEEPER with $17 million from 3,303 theatres for VVS Films/Amazon Studios/MGM. This latest effort from David Ayer and starring Jason Statham, gets 67% on the Tomatometer.
Third is WONKA with $9 million from 3,346 theatres for Warner Bros., bringing it to $170 million domestically.
Fourth goes to ANYONE BUT YOU with $7.7 million from 2,935 theatres for Sony Pictures, a total of $57 million over four weekends.
MIGRATION rounds things out with $4.7 million for Universal Pictures, a tally of $85 million.
