The Hollywood Foreign Press Association‘s Golden Globe Awards, honouring achievements in Cinema and Television, returned to the Beverly Hilton tonight, now in their 81st edition. Leading the pack in the Film categories was Christopher Nolan‘s OPPENHEIMER, winning a total five awards tonight including Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Supporting Actor (Robert Downey Jr.), Best Actor (Cillian Murphy), Best Screenplay (Christopher Nolan), Best Original Score (Ludwig Göransson) and Best Director, which notched Nolan his first ever win in the category after six nominations. This certainly bodes well for the critical and commercial success at the upcoming Academy Awards, taking place March 10, 2024.
Topping the Television categories was HBO series SUCCESSION, which just concluded in its fourth season this past May, capping off its legacy on a high note. It swept Best Drama Series, Best Actor (Kieran Culkin), Best Actress (Sarah Snook) and Best Supporting Actor (Matthew McFadyen).
Netflix and A24‘s BEEF would go on to get the gold as well, winning Best Limited Series, Best Actor in a Limited Series (Steven Yeun) and Best Actress in a Limited Series (Ali Wong). Both Actors made history as the first ever of Asian descent to win in their respective categories. History also was made with Lily Gladstone becoming the first ever Indigenous Actress to win a Golden Globe Award, getting recognized for her work in Martin Scorsese’s KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON.
Yorgos Lanthimos’ quirky Dark Comedy POOR THINGS also was successful tonight, nabbing both Best Motion Picture Comedy and Best Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy (Emma Stone). Stone was seen being cheered-on by her dear friends fellow nominee Jennifer Lawrence (up with NO HARD FEELINGS) and Taylor Swift.
Swift was in attendance also for her TAYLOR SWIFT: THE ERAS TOUR Concert Film, which was up for Cinematic and Box Office achievement, which went ultimately to BARBIE which went on to gross $1.4 billion globally in its theatrical run. The Comedy starring and produced by Margot Robbie, directed by Greta Gerwig, also won Best Original Song with Billie Eilish‘s “What Was I Made For”.
Meanwhile, Jeremy Allen White – his second consecutive win – and Ayo Edibiri each respectively took home Best Actor and Best Actress for their work in Comedy Series, THE BEAR.

Taylor Swift’s ‘Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version)’ has been revealed as the song of the opening titles for UK Original thriller series Wilderness. The re-recorded track from Reputation makes its global debut in the series teaser released today. Wilderness will launch globally on Prime Video on 15 September, 2023.
The defiant ‘Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version)’ reflects Liv’s (Jenna Coleman) transformation after her supposed “happily-ever-after” quickly turns into a living nightmare on discovering her husband Will (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) is having an affair.
Liv becomes the actress starring in Will’s bad dreams after she learns about his betrayal, and her heartbreak is swiftly followed by another emotion: fury. The couple embark on an American road trip Liv’s fantasised about since she was little, from the Grand Canyon on through Yosemite, before ending up with a hedonistic weekend in Las Vegas. For Will, it’s a chance to make amends; for Liv, it’s a very different prospect—a landscape where accidents happen all the time. The perfect place to get revenge. Look what he made her do…
It was an incredibly star-studded second day of TIFF ’22 with various Premieres kicking-off around the City ahead of what will be a busy weekend with mega-watt power at the Festival. See who spotted around town premiering their Films and doing their rounds!
We started out day early with an appearance on CP24 Breakfast with Sonia Mangat! Sbe actually has a Short Film premering at the Festival! So amazing! Thanks to those who tuned-in and sent their supportive messages!
THE WOMAN KING
Such an honour being invited to this event in celebration of Gina Prince-Blythewood‘s film. The Cast really brought home the message of the importance of supporting this black female-led Action Film starring Viola Davis, on its opening weekend, at the #TakeUpSpace event presented by Twitter at Mademoiselle.

BROS
While we’re expecting to see more of the Cast tomorrow, how cool is this moment between Comedy icons Seth Rogen and Judd Apatow? Rogen is here for THE FABELMANS and reunited with his Knocked Up collaborator Apatow at this Premiere for BROS. So happy we met Joel Kim-Booster, who was seen this past Summer in FIRE ISLAND!
It’s 3 AM, time for bed and yet another early rise tomorrow! We were a little slow to start and hoping to get into our rhythm finally on Day Three. I know this sounds a little absurd since we had so many sightings but trust me, this even is a little off our usual pace. See you again in a few hours!
