James Corden and Sally Hawkins star in upcoming Prime Video series MAMMALS. Here is a first look!
Synopsis:
In this darkly comedic drama, revelations and secrets come to light as the complexity of modern marriage and fidelity are exposed. In a world of eight billion, what happens after we’ve found ‘the one’? Can we stay true to the promises we strive to keep when, after all, aren’t we all just Mammals.
Mammals follows the story of Jamie (James Corden), a chef whose world implodes when he discovers shocking secrets about his pregnant wife, Amandine (Melia Kreiling). Jamie finds himself hunting for answers with the help of his brother-in-law Jeff (Colin Morgan). Through this hunt, the cracks in Jeff’s marriage to Jamie’s sister Lue (Sally Hawkins) also widen.
The six-part series written by two-time Olivier and Tony Award-winning Jez Butterworth, about the complexities of marriage: there is sadness, grief, tension, love, friendship, betrayal, and a touch of magical realism.
The series is directed by Stephanie Laing (Made for Love, Physical) and produced by Street Hassle in association with Vertigo Films and Fulwell 73. The UK Original series will launch worldwide, exclusively on Prime Video on 11th November.

Mark Rylance stars alongside Sally Hawkins in Craig Roberts’ The Phantom of the Open, a charming dramedy that tells the unbelievable – yet true – story of Maurice Flitcroft, a British crane operator who became known as the “world’s worst golfer.”
Script is by Simon Farnaby, based on the same-titled book he wrotewith Scott Murray. No surprise that the film is filled with humour and heart, given that Farnaby was also the Paddington 2 script.
Maurice (Rylance) lives with his loving wife (Hawkins) and theirthree boys in Barrow-in Furness, an English port town where he’s employed at the local shipyard. But when 1976 arrives, redundancies
are looming, causing Maurice to wonder what he will do with his spare time – that is, until he sees a golf game on the telly. He’s always been a life-long optimist. So at age 46, without having played a round of golf in his life, he finds a way to enter the British Open Golf Championship.
When Maurice shoots the worst score in the Open history, he draws the ire of the golfing elite and becomes a folk hero in the process.
Also starring is Rhys Ifans as the Open’s uptight guardian, Christian and Jonah Lees as the Flitcrofts’ twin sons who are following their own dream of becoming disco champs (what fun to see them whirling
and twirling!) and Jake Davies as their older son who is worried that his embarrassing dad might damage his career as a manager at the shipyard.
Adding to the effervescent feeling is the bubbly pop music, from Abba’s “Money Money Money” to The Foundations’ “Build Me Up Buttercup”.
THE PHANTOM OF THE OPEN opens June 17, 2022 in Toronto, Vancouver,
Montreal, Ottawa and more via Mongrel Media.

Review by David Baldwin for Mr. Will Wong
Masterpiece. That is the easiest and quickest way to describe Guillermo del Toro’s gothic romance The Shape of Water. The Film recently won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival and is the early front-runner to take the Grolsch People’s Choice Award at TIFF this Sunday.
It is the 1960’s and mute Eliza (a never better Sally Hawkins) is working as a cleaning lady in a high-tech government facility. While cleaning one of the labs, she discovers what the scientists and top brass refer to as The Asset (Doug Jones) – a fish/human/creature hybrid. Despite the secrecy of his existence, Eliza befriends the creature, changing both of their lives irrevocably.
Not since 2006’s Oscar-nominated Pan’s Labyrinth has del Toro been able to marry his incredible visuals with a worthwhile story. But he delivers in spades here, creating a dark fairy tale that is just as much touching and emotional as it is thrilling. It is a breathless and surprising experience that is sure to delight audiences, and is easily one of the top movies of the year. And it’s all the more special because so much of this period piece was filmed in Toronto – including at the Elgin Theatre where it will screen during TIFF.
Don’t miss it.
Fox Searchlight Pictures will screen The Shape of Water at TIFF ’17 at the following times:
Monday, September 11 9:30 p.m. Elgin Theatre
Tuesday, September 12 3:00 p.m. Elgin Theatre
Friday, September 15 9:00 p.m. Elgin Theatre
Sunday, September 17 6:30 p.m. Elgin Theatre
TIFF ’17 will be remembered as one of the most electrifyingly star-studded Festivals in many years and today is exactly why!
Names don’t come any bigger than Angelina Jolie who walked her first of two Red Carpets this afternoon. She produces Animated Feature THE BREADWINNER and humbly came out to grace not only the Red Carpet but walk the line of Fans stopping for photos and autographs along Yonge Street in front of Winter Garden Theatre. We were among the lucky! What a thrill! Don’t miss her at her Premiere for well-reviewed Documentary FIRST THEY KILLED MY FATHER tomorrow!

Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence also drew a large crowd at TIFF BELL LIGHTBOX for the Presser for Darren Aronofsky‘s well-reviewed mother! While there was no sign of Michelle Pfeiffer today, Javier Bardem and Ed Harris later would walk the Red Carpet after being absent at the Film’s Presser. We even got a photo with Lawrence although tragically, flashes going off would wash out the Photo! Devastation!

We loved seeing Julianne Moore out earlier as she promoted George Clooney‘s SUBURBICON. We didn’t see Clooney though who was snuck-in, although we hear he has been really fantastic and giving to fans at TIFF ’17!
Sam Rockwell is back at it in the City, a place which work has brought him to many times, returning to TIFF with THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI.

Dave Franco stars alongside brother James Franco in hilarious THE DISASTER ARTIST, based on THE ROOM star Greg Sestero‘s Memoir about working on that Cult Classic! He was in a bit of a rush today but we hope to see him around tomorrow as the Film premieres then at Midnight Madness.
James McAvoy consistently delivers and we were thrilled that he was able to make it in this year as we’ve wanted to meet him since we saw The Last King of Scotland, which also premiered here back in 2006. He’s here for SUBMERGENCE and was gracious sporting a bald look for his X-Men: Dark Phoenix role which he is shooting now in Montreal.

The praise already is pouring in for Gareth Edwards’ upcoming Reboot of GODZILLA. Toronto was lucky enough to host a Premiere for the Action-Adventure filmed in British Columbia and coming-in to support the Blockbuster was none other than the Director himself!
Those of you who have walked by Yonge x Elm Streets these past few days might have noticed an eye-popping disaster-themed installation courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures Canada. The smokey street-level Exhibit which had Torontonians Instagramming away, simulates a Subway crashing into the concrete and a Helicopter on-the-scene.
Following a round of Interviews in the rain, Edwards was a great sport greeting Fans, regardless of the weather and fielding Media questions before heading-off to the Premiere at Cineplex Yonge & Dundas. The Film sees the Father-Son Duo of Scientist Joe Brody (Bryan Cranston) and his Son, Lieutenant Ford Brody (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) teaming to investigate the Janjira collapse. Sally Hawkins, Juliette Binoche, Ken Watanabe, David Strathairn and Elizabeth Olsen round-out an extremely talented Cast.
