Synopsis:
Investigative reporter Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) is trying to expose Dr. Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed), whom he believes recruits vulnerable people for tests that end up killing them. Eddie doesn’t like the fact that his girlfriend Anne (Michelle Williams) works for him, or at least, the firm she works for does.
One night, Eddie discovers a woman (Jenny Slate) following him. She tells him she works at the Life Foundation and needs his help. She and her team have discovered creatures called symbiotes, which attack people. She tells him Carlton Drake believes the union between human and symbiote “is key to our evolution.”
When Eddie investigates, he’s attacked by one of the humans undergoing experimentation. He soon feels sick and begins hearing a deep voice inside himself. When men come to his apartment demanding the return of Mr. Drake‘s property, Eddie discovers he has superpowers when he defends himself. The powers belong to the voice inside him, and he tells it, if it’s going to stay, it can only hurt bad people. However, he soon finds he has no power to control the beast within, which transforms into a creature that calls itself Venom.

And in a blink of an eye, another TIFF has passed and this one had us working right to the finish line! It’s only after the fact that we have a moment to take it all in how much we went through. We estimate double our average in Celebrity Snaps this year. That’s how star-studded TIFF ’18 was. It was that kind of a year!
We had the pleasure of previewing several of this year’s Awards Season contenders and we are waiting with baited breath to see A STAR IS BORN and GREEN BOOK, both outstanding, duke it out for Oscars glory in coming months. We loved both, are thrilled the latter was honoured with the People’s Choice Award at the Festival, but something about the former makes our heart sing. We cannot stop thinking about it or its Soundtrack. It takes a magical Film to do that.
Let’s relive some of my favourite star-studded moments of the Festival, as lensed through the Nikon D3400. We wouldn’t have been able to do it without this amazing camera which worked amazingly-well with our Blackberry Key 2 in terms of file transmission to ensure we were able to get our photos uploaded and edited within moments for you all to enjoy! The clarity of these snaps speak for themselves.
A STAR IS BORN Press Conference
We will never stop taking our signature Celebrity Selfies and TIFF ’18 was unforgettable even if we saw many returning faces. We wouldn’t have been camera-ready without the right gear and depending on each scenario, sometimes the Blackberry Key 2 worked best for those Selfies, sometimes the Nikon D3400 worked better. What matters is that more often than not, we got the snap! And many we did.
Here’s some of our faves!

Review by Amanda Gilmore for Mr. Will Wong
The Sisters Brothers is the film adaptation of Canadian author Patrick deWitt’s award-winning Western Novel about two vastly different brothers (Joaquin Phoenix and John C. Reilly) who are sent to kill a man (Riz Ahmed) who has been accused of stealing from a crime boss. Before making its North American Premiere at TIFF in the Special Presentation Programme it screened at the Venice Film Festival to rave reviews.
Writer-Director Jacques Audiard pays homage to the western genre while offering his own dark humour twist. Thanks to the powerhouse of talent that is Audiard’s cast, which consists of Joaquin Phoenix, John C. Reilly, Jake Gyllenhaal and Riz Ahmed, this gritty and violent Film is enriched with wit and humanity.
The Sisters Brothers screens at on Saturday, September 8 at 9:30 PM at Princess Of Wales Theatre and Sunday, September 9 at 10 AM at Winter Garden Theatre.

We absolutely are crazy about Riz Ahmed, the English Actor who in recent years has seen his star rise rather quickly stateside. In addition to starring in HBO Series The Night Of this year, Ahmed turned heads in a acclaimed 2014 Thriller Nightcrawler alongside Jake Gyllenhaal. While we have yet to see his performance in acclaimed TIFF ’16 Selection Una (which he had to cancel an appearance for) with another of our favourites Rooney Mara, we soon will see him on many screens in STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE, for which he was in town for today.
With a whirlwind Press Day schedule, Ahmed with little notice to viewers, appeared on Breakfast Television, CP24 Breakfast and Your Morning. In the afternoon he shared the spotlight with Ryan Reynolds on The Social, that Canuck in town doing good at Sick Kids’ Hospital. He celebrates his 34th birthday tomorrow!
We gave it a shot and found Ahmed, who was was a great sport about the Selfie. We cannot wait to see him come back hopefully soon with his Hip-Hop Duo SWET SHOP BOYS, which just concluded their tour in multiple cities in support of their Album, Cashmere.
