#OSCARS: “SINNERS” LEADS 2026 ACADEMY AWARD NOMINATIONS

SINNERS leads the way at the upcoming 98th Academy Awards, with a record 16 nominations, including Best Picture. They are followed closely with Best Picture favourite ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER, garnering 13 nominations.

Some surprises among the group include Elle Fanning getting a Best Supporting Actress nomination for international feature SENTIMENTAL VALUE, which got nine nominations total. Noticeable omissions included Ariana Grande for WICKED: FOR GOOD, Chase Infiniti for ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER, Odessa A’zion for MARTY SUPREME, and AVATAR: FIRE & ASH which has performed exceedingly well commercially, though not recognized for Best Picture.

The Awards are set to take place March 15, 2026 at 7 PM ET.

#GOLDENGLOBES: “ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER” AND “ADOLESCENCE” DOMINATE 2026 GOLDEN GLOBES

The 83rd Golden.Globe Awards took place last night in Beverly Hills, California and leading the way were Paul Thomas Anderson’s ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER in the Film categories, and ADOLESCENCE in the TV categories. Each took home four trophies, including Motion Picture Comedy or Musical, and Limited Television Series, respectively.

Funnywoman Nikki Glaser hosted the evening again this year, drawing big laughs with her unfiltered yet thoughtfully-crafted humour. Canadians shone bright with Seth Rogen winning for Actor in a Television Series Comedy with The Studio, and Writer/Director Maggie Kang winning Animated Feature with global smash KPop Demon Hunters. Meanwhile the stars of Canadian production Heated Rivalry, Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, continue to be Hollywood’s new “It Boys”, being the center of attention this past weekend on the party circuit. The pair presented to Adolescence‘s Erin Doherty on the broadcast.

Nominees for the 86th annual GOLDEN GLOBE Awards have been announced and leading the way are ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER in the film categories with nine nominations, and THE WHITE LOTUS Season Three with six nominations.

New this year is a category for Podcast, and most notably. WICKED: FOR GOOD failed to garner a nomination for Best Comedy or Musical.

#BOXOFFICE: “BLACK PHONE 2” RINGS UP BIG SCARES

BLACK PHONE 2 debuts with $24 million from 3,411 theatres across North America for Universal Pictures. It gets 75% on the Tomatometer. This bests its predecessor which debuted in 2022 with $23 million.

TRON: ARES lands in second with $11 million from 4,000 theatres. Over two weekends, it has made $54.4 million for Disney.

GOOD FORTUNE, Aziz Ansari’s directorial debut opens in third with $5.7 million, it gets 77% on the Tomatometer for Universal Pictures.

ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER lands in fourth with $3.7 million, a tally of $61.6 million domestically for Warner Bros.

ROOFMAN rounds out the Top Five with $3.6 million, a total $15.4 million in its second weekend for Paramount Pictures.

#BOXOFFICE: “TRON: ARES” ZOOMS TO THE TOP IN OPENING

Disney‘s TRON: ARES zooms to the top of the Box Office with a stellar $38 million opening from 4,000 theatres. This falls just shy of 2010’s reboot TRON: LEGACY which bowed with $44 million. This latest edition in the Franchise gets 57% on the Tomatometer.

Second up is ROOFMAN with 3,362 theatres for Paramount Pictures. This latest from Derek Cianfrance, starring Channing Tatum is certified “fresh” on the Tomatometer with 84%.

ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER lands in third with $7 million from 3,127 theatres for Warner Bros., a tally of $55.3 million domestically to date.

Fourth is GABBY’S DOLLHOUSE: THE MOVIE with $4.2 million, a total $27.2 million for Universal Pictures.

Rounding things out in fifth is the faith film SOUL ON FIRE with $2.5 million for Sony.

TAYLOR SWIFT | THE OFFICIAL RELEASE PARTY OF A SHOWGIRL only is in theatres for three days October 3-5, but takes top spot in its debut for AMC/Cineplex Pictures, with $32 million from 3,702 theatres. By contrast, TAYLOR SWIFT: THE ERAS TOUR movie debuted in 2023 with $93 million.

Second is last week’s champ ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER with $12.3 million from 3,634 theatres for Warner Bros. This takes its tally over two weeks to $43.9 million domestically.

Debuting in third is Benny Safdie‘s THE SMASHING MACHINE with $6.2 million from 3,345 theatres for A24/VVS Films. The tiff50 selection gets 73% on the Tomatometer.

Fourth goes to GABBY’S DOLLHOUSE THE MOVIE with $4.7 million for Universal Pictures, a two week total of $21 million.

Rounding it out is THE CONJURING: LAST RITES with $4.2 million for Warner Bros., a run of $168 million over five weekends.

#BOXOFFICE: “ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER” WINS THE FIGHT IN OPENING

Paul Thomas Anderson‘s ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER debuts atop the Box Office with $22.4 million from 3,635 theatres for Warner Bros. What is looking like an early frontrunner for Best Picture, this gets a stellar 97% on the Tomatometer.

In second is GABBY’S DOLLHOUSE: THE MOVIE with $13.5 million from 3,500 theatres for Universal Pictures, coming in with a solid 79% on the Tomatometer.

Third is THE CONJURING: LAST RITES with $7.5 million in its fourth weekend, a tally of $161.7 million for Warner Bros.

DEMON SLAYER: INFINITY CASTLE is in fourth with $6.4 million for Sony Pictures, a total $117 million grossed domestically.

THE STRANGERS: CHAPTER 2 debuts with $5.2 million from 2,690 theatres for Cineplex Pictures and Lionsgate. 15% on the Tomatometer for this Horror sequel.

From Warner Bros. Pictures and Academy Award-nominated, BAFTA-winning filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson comes “One Battle After Another,” starring Academy Award and BAFTA winner Leonardo DiCaprio.

Oscar and BAFTA winners Sean Penn and Benicio del Toro also star alongside Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor and Chase Infiniti, as well as Wood Harris and Alana Haim.

Anderson directs from his own screenplay. The producers are Oscar and BAFTA nominees Adam Somner and Sara Murphy and Anderson, with Will Weiske executive producing.

The creative team behind the camera includes several frequent collaborators, among them directors of photography Michael Bauman and Anderson; Oscar-nominated, BAFTA-winning production designer Florencia Martin; BAFTA-nominated editor Andy Jurgensen; Oscar and BAFTA-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood; casting director Cassandra Kulukundis; and with music by Oscar- and BAFTA-nominated composer Jonny Greenwood.
