#FIRSTLOOK: FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF “NETFLIX IN YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD”

Today, September 27, 2022, marks the one year anniversary of NETFLIX IN YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD, which was launched last year on World Tourism Day. Created by Netflix, the site gives fans both local and from around the world the opportunity to find and explore some of the Canadian filming locations for many of Netflix’s most popular films and series. As of today the site has been updated with new films and series including those filmed in Vancouver, Toronto, Vancouver Island, Surrey, Burnaby, Langley, Mahone Bay, Oakville and more. New titles added to Netflix in Your Neighbourhood are:

• Keep Breathing – This survival thriller limited series, executive produced by Canadian co-showrunners and writers Brendan Gall and Martin Gerro, was shot around BC including, Mission, Squamish-Lillooet Regional District, Vancouver Island and Vancouver
• Wedding Season – This romantic comedy was shot in Caledon and Toronto including Little India
• Virgin River – New locations have been added for this popular BC shot series including Vancouver, Burnaby and Langley
• Locke & Key – The final season of this series starring Canada’s own Connor Jessup was shot across Ontario and Nova Scotia including Woodstock, Whitchurch-Stouffville, Hamilton Ontario and Mahone Bay in Nova Scotia.
• Devil in Ohio – This limited series was shot around BC including Surrey, Langley and Delta. Some filming location highlights include Deas Island Regional Park, and The Telegraph Trail.
• 13th The Musical – Based on the hugely popular musical 13, this film adaptation was filmed in Ontario including Beeton, King City, Oakville and Toronto.

Visitors to Netflix In Your Neighbourhood can search by film or series title, or by province to discover the real life businesses and tourist destinations that are featured in their favourite Netflix productions.

Netflix filming productions stretch from Sooke, British Columbia to St. John’s, Newfoundland and benefit Canadian communities by creating jobs and investments in local businesses while also creating a desire among Netflix members to visit Canada and learn more about our cities, food, wilderness and culture.

#FIRSTLOOK: NETFLIX ANNOUNCE RETURN OF TUDUM SEPTEMBER 2022

Netflix‘s global fan event TUDUM will be back this September! The event was a success last year, bringing-in 24 million views!

WHAT:
Tune in for an exciting day of exclusive news, never-before-seen footage, trailers, and first looks, as well as interviews with Netflix’s biggest stars and creators. The free virtual event is a celebration of Netflix fandom and is dedicated to sharing the scoop on over 100 fan favorite shows, films and specials from across the globe.

WHEN:
On September 24, Tudum will span four continents with five events, taking fans on a whirlwind trip around the world:

• At 11:00 am KST (7:00 pm PT September 23), Tudum kicks off with an exciting show out of Korea.
• At 11:00 am IST (10:30 pm PT September 23), fans will be treated to a fun look at what’s ahead from India.
• At 10:00 am PT, fans will get exclusive news from our shows and movies coming out of the United States and Europe, as well as an additional event which previews the great entertainment coming from Latin America.
• At 1:00 pm JST September 25 (9:00 pm PT September 24), our stars from Japan will close out Tudum with a celebration of our Japanese entertainment.

#FIRSTLOOK: NEW ADDITIONS TO “NETFLIX IN YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD”

Ever been curious where exactly in Canada these Netflix shows filmed? You might remember NETFLIX IN YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD, a site which guides fans with fan facts on locations their favourites were filmed. The site added some new additional tidbits today with the release of Season Three of THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY. Hit Dance Feature WORK IT also has been included too!

• The Umbrella Academy Season 3 – This hit series from Canadian Creator and Showrunner Steve Blackman, and starring Canadian actors Elliot Page, Jake Epstein, Britne Oldford andColm Feore, among others, has been shot in Toronto and Hamilton for all of its three seasons. Some filming location highlights from this season include Hamilton’s Gage Park, Scarborough Bluffs and BMO Field.
• Work It – This dance-comedy from 2020 was shot across the GTA including in Etobicoke, Thornhill and Mississauga, showcasing some of the city’s most beloved neighbourhoods and tourist attractions, such as The Junction, Distillery District, Underpass Park and Celebration Square.

As you might remember, Netflix launched a NETFLIX IN YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD site that helps fans connect with some exclusive behind-the-scenes of where their favourites were filmed in Canada! Just added are the following Series and Films:

• Sex/Life, a boundary pushing series shot around the city of Toronto starring Sarah Shahi, Mike Vogel and Adam Demos; 
• Awake, starring Gina Rodriguez alongside Torontonian Shamier Anderson, which transformed Uxbridge, Ontario into a post-apocalyptic town; 
• The Adam Project, Vancouver shot family adventure starring Ryan Reynolds and helmed by Canadian director Shawn Levy (released on Netflix today); 
• Brazen, a murder mystery from Vancouver-based director Monika Mitchell, and filmed around Vancouver and Surrey, British Columbia; and the hit comedy series;

#FIRSTLOOK: “NETFLIX IN YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD” ADDS NEW TITLES

Now available, Netflix in Your Neighbourhood gives Canadians and fans around the world the ability to find and explore amazing Netflix filming locations. 

The new website gives Visitors the ability to look-up filming locations by a film or series title, or by province. Fans can also access directions to these destinations, and see how they’ve been featured on Netflix.

With Netflix being a leading force in production here in Canada, creating jobs and opportunities for local businesses.

Some fascinating results from a recent study show that Netflix audiences are 1.8x more likely to have seen Canadian content than those who don’t watch Netflix. And people who have watched Canadian content are 2.1x more likely to say Canada is their #1 travel destination.  Amazing to see the impacts of what trickles from studios investing in us!

Updated shows added today to this site include: Single All The Way, the first LGBTQ+ holiday film from Netflix starring Michael Urie, Philemon Chambers, Luke Macfarlane and Jennifer Robertson, was filmed in and around Quebec; Blown Away: Christmas, the latest in the molten hot series starring world-renowned Canadian glass blower Katherine Gray and Queer Eye’s Bobby Berk was shot in Hamilton; The Christmas Chronicles and The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two, both starring Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, were filmed in Toronto and Vancouver respectively; and Maid, the powerful dramatic series starring Margaret Qualley and based on the best-selling memoir by Stephanie Land was shot on Vancouver Island.
