Toronto racks up more parking offenses than any other city in Canada – but not for long. With Warner Bros. Pictures Canada gearing up for the release of Mortal Kombat II, they called in some outside help, because nothing says “pay your ticket” like a little movie magic! Time to strike back at Toronto’s parking perps and restore order to the shoulders of the streets.
The heroic Kung Lao from the iconic Mortal Kombat universe has hit the streets to deal deadly blows to those who let their parking run out. What better way to deliver a message than with a razor brimmed hat? Residents around the GTA have been doing double-takes after coming across an unusual scene: cars seemingly sliced clean in half by the legendary razor-edged hat. The scenes look as though the spinning brim of Kung Lao’s weapon has cut through metal with impossible speed, leaving vehicles neatly divided in a single, precise strike. The brim sliced so fast that embers can still be seen floating in the air.
No need to panic though; upon a closer look, it’s a world-exclusive installation to promote the highly anticipated release, in theatres May 8. The experience is complete with hidden easter eggs and QR codes etched into the set giving fans the opportunity to enter for a chance to win $2,500 in gas cards! A prize for a champion which couldn’t have come at a better time.
