For the first time ever, Toronto-based Songwriting Duo Good Grief hosted THE INNER CIRCLE: A SONGWRITERS’ SHOWCASE at The Drake Underground. The intimate event brought together on-stage some of this highly-sought-after Duo’s collaborators, to perform acoustic versions of their songs in a Songwriters’ Circle. Good Grief is comprised of Singer-Songwriters Bryn McCutcheon (also known as Bryn) and Kirstyn Johnson (also known as Aryss). After meeting a fateful Songwriters’ Camp, they’ve joined forces and have worked with some of the biggest emerging names including one of our faves, Lilyisthatyou.
Appearing at the event, which hopefully will launch into a Series, were Universal Music Canada Artists Reve and Sofia Camara, plus the amazing Ralph, whom we adore. Telling the audience the stories behind the songs, we got two rounds of songs from each of the special guests and Good Grief, including one round where the Artists performed their collaborations with the Duo. This was followed by individual sets from each McCutcheon and Johnson.
The City definitely needs more platforms to showcase emerging talent, test new material and of course, create a space for female voices in a supportive environment. This was just wonderful and most amazing of all, we got a chance to interact with these amazing Singer-Songwriters. Definitely an experience worth checking-out.

This was WILD! Had so much fun seeing Toronto’s very own LILYISTHATYOU headline her first ever show at The Drake Underground. The completely-sold-out show had the emerging Artist perform her repertoire, which included two new songs. Fans were rewarded in the Finale with her biggest viral hit to date, “FMRN” which has received in-excess of 40 million streams on Spotify alone!
LILYISTHATYOU, nee Lily Davies, got intimate with her fans talking about battling her demons and her own destructive behaviours but also recognized how far along she has come, finally delivering Toronto fans their very own show. She delivered a message on the importance of Self-Love and even threw-in a cover of The Weeknd’s “Wicked Games”, professing her love for that Toronto Megastar’s versatility.
After playing Austin City Limits recently, she’s bound for Mexico where she’ll be playing alongside the likes of Miley Cyrus, Phoebe Bridgers, Lil Nas X, The 1975, Brian Wilson and many other heavyweights.

It’s literally Christmas in July! Toronto’s LILYISTHATYOU blesses us not only with some new Music, but also a new EP and Video! Her new Single “Bad Energy” makes its debut via this new Clip, directed by Luke Nairn; track produced by Mike Wise (Bülow, James Blunt).
The Video takes us around Toronto and inside the club where she delivers a swift “pow pow!” to them haters. Love the commitment to the ’90s with the camcorder footage and visuals, and also the Track’s Piano House leanings with a little subtle dash of Beyoncé’s “Sweet Dreams“. ♥️
Lilyisthatyou‘s debut EP is available to stream now! The LinkTree is here to find your service.
Fingers crossed for a physical copy! Still waiting on a debut live show at home, but am seeing performances come up including a supporting spot for Toronto’s VALLEY and huge Festivals in Mexico and Austin! So exciting! Things are happening fast!

So proud of our LILYISTHATYOU! Not only does she release her new Single “COMPETITION” today, she is also the EQUAL Ambassador on Spotify. The feature spot goes to a female Artist who is a voice for the LGBTQ+ community. Lily takes on the persona of “Lola” for this new era which has her tackling her demons and traumas.
When asked to share her story with EQUAL, Lilyisthatyou says “My story starts with poetry. It starts with being a young, anxious, depressed 13-year-old who was already lost in social media and substances to distract from the issues at home and in my head. My songwriting now reflects what I have grown out of and what I have grown into being. I write about forgiveness for the past and fill my songs with affirmations that will help me find comfort in the strong woman I have become because of the sexual abuse and addiction in my past. I want to tell it in a way that makes others feel less ALONE. I want my story to be one of hope and relatability for young women growing up, looking for ways to understand what holds them back and how to let go of the judgement the world has taught them to view themselves. I want how I share my story, piece by piece, character by character, to be the brutal truth.”

Her debut EP THE CHARACTER arrives July 29, 2022. Pre-save here.

Our girl LILYISTHATYOU is back with another Banger! GORGEOUS GORGEOUS GIRLS is a moody, dancey romp. This Toronto icon in-the-making can do no wrong. Yet another Track in her short time making Music that we LOVE. We totally get the Kylie “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” reference, and the production has echoes of Ed Sheeran’s “Bad Habits“. SOLD.

You know how much I love LILYISTHATYOU. And sometimes when you wish for things so hard to happen, they get manifested into existence! We are so excited about this Toronto Artist who is making a splash with her outre brand of Pop and between flying to the U.S. and working on new Music locally for her upcoming Warner Music debut album, just following her on Instagram brings me joy. I love watching as she experiments with new obsessions and makeup looks on her stories, But most of all we love her Music.
No word of a lie, I literally was walking to meet a friend for Wings and Lily was with one of her collaborators, Dave, walking towards me. My jaw dropped! I just messaged her the other day how excited I was to meet her one day. Have been waiting forever for that Live Show which seems to be a work-in-progress.
She is everything I hoped for and this was definitely a result of putting good karma out in the world. A highlight of my ’22 already! AND SHE EVEN REMEMBERED MY NAME. And I got a hug! *dead*
Lily has just released a new Single, ALL ABOUT ME. It’s brash, it’s bold and yet another earworm. She calls this one her favourite since her groundbreaking debut single “FRMN“. We agree! While still on-brand, this still is a departure sonically from the other tracks we’ve had on-loop in highly-digestible 2+ minute doses. ALL ABOUT ME is electric, glam and screams danger!
The Track is co-written by Chloe Angelides, Cooper Holzman and Simon Wilcox.
Check it out below:

We cute.
I cannot say enough how much joy and release Lily‘s Music gives me. The confidence and swagger she exudes gives me exactly the energy I need to make it through all this. Am expecting big things of her ahead. Have loved immensely everything she’s put out and literally sleep and work to her Music.

I’ve honestly loved every single that Toronto’s LILYISTHATYOU has put-out, and this latest track “Moderation” is no exception. Delivering a bold, sex-positive message, this latest release explores her struggle balancing some of her vices.
She talks about battling addiction from a young age but makes no apologies for it has made her a “stronger person and a better artist”.
Check-out the Video below directed by Ievy Stamatov, exploring different sides of her personality on the line of indulgence/over-indulgence. Definitely not NSFW, but who cares?
If her aesthetic feels and feels familiar, that’s because Tabitha Sanchez, who has styled among others, a star of HBO‘s Euphoria, also has worked with LILYISTHATYOU.
I miss Pop Music that has edge, sass, catchiness, yet is saying something. And this is all of that. I cannot wait for the full LP.

We are so excited about LILYISTHATYOU! This Toronto-based Singer/Songwriter is making waves and making statements with her sex-positive message. You’ve likely heard of her viral hit FMRN already, followed by her New Year Anthem PARTY 22! And now comes a new Video for her latest, PURITY directed by Leah Lalich. The Track is unapologetic, fun and unforgettable. This definitely isn’t Safe For Work but you’re probably working from home anyway, so whatever! Enjoy!
We need a proper Toronto show already! Cannot wait to hear what’s next!
