16-year-old music sensation Billie Eilish is back in Toronto, this time selling-out two back-to-work shows at The Phoenix! The L.A.-born and raised Singer, who consistently has been filling concert halls all her Tour, arrived at the venue prepped with barricades, making a big entrance, diving into her adoring fans only to get yanked away by her security as soon as fans began rushing her.
She played an hour-long set highlighting her understated repertoire and dynamic emotive voice, including viral hit ocean eyes, bitches broken hearts, you should see me in a crown, idontwannabeyouanymore, lovely (performed originally with Khalid) and her latest, when the party’s over. If you haven’t heard her Music, think an even more minimalist Lana Del Rey.
Despite not feeling well, she was kind enough to come out in the rain and hug fans after her Show. We were lucky to get a Snap, which upset her bodyguard. She told us to be good to ourselves! The pic doesn’t do the blue-haired Songstress with a maturity beyond her years, any justice. But it’s Halloween!🎃

This brand new titular single from Lana Del Rey’s upcoming fifth album Lust for Life gives us high hopes. A lush, multi-tiered ode to young love, the collaboration with Toronto’s The Weeknd really takes us away and if we might say so, is the strongest of their recent pairings including a couple tracks off his Starboy disc.

We absolutely adore Lana Del Rey and it’s been a good minute since we’ve heard new Music from the queen of the cinematic. Check out her gorgeous, nostalgic new track LOVE from her upcoming fifth studio disc.
Listen on Spotify:
We’re admittedly still digesting the new Lana Del Rey album HONEYMOON, which is being touted as a return to form for the gorgeous songstress. But if anything, we loved her last disc, Ultraviolence, so she was in-form if you ask us.

At last, some new Music from Lana Del Rey! The title track for her upcoming Disc of the same name, due this Fall, has just surfaced. The brooding Track is sparse with synth strings and layered vocals and might take a few listens to appreciate. Things pick-up and sound a bit familiar after the 4:00 minute mark, going a bit darker I’d say than her Ultraviolence era. We’re not sure how we feel yet…

Over the past four years, few have risen as quickly as Lana Del Rey, often referred to as a “Gangsta Nancy Sinatra“. Known for her moody, cinematic Catalog of self-penned Tunes which pay homage to Americana of another era, Del Rey is an Artist and a Woman in complete control of her image and musical vision.
This marks the third time Del Rey has visited Toronto, playing Molson Amphitheatre on the Toronto leg of her sold-out Endless Summer Tour. Her Encore-free Set, preceded by Grimes, was an abbreviated 13 songs which certainly are not short on quality. I as a huge Fan of hers however, couldn’t help but feel underwhelmed seeing her perform live for the first time. Believe me, I always find the positive in things, and totally get the understated elegance which Del Rey possesses, but I couldn’t help but feel a great disconnection between her and her material. Perhaps she long is over the phase in her life to which she is confined to singing on some of her older material on this Tour – or maybe she is just fatigued from aggressive touring, but my honest impression is that Del Rey didn’t seem happy about being on-tour. Tunes like Video Games and Shades of Cool simply didn’t translate as well live for me after impacting me so deeply on-recording and vocally some of her performances were off-the-mark.
Nonetheless still, I am still happy to say I’ve seen her perform live at last, although I wish the circumstances were different and that I got more value out of this experience. The fatal omission of one of her signature songs, Young & Beautiful also had me baffled. Lana Del Rey however still to me is a Goddess, all this aside.
Del Rey did mention that she will have a new Disc out this Fall titled Honeymoon, which of course has me excited and perhaps I’ll need to see her again live again when she’s in inspired mode to give it a fair evaluation…
One thing that irks me though is that Toronto Fans were among the first to get Del Rey on the map and in her last two Tours in the City, she’s given little back to Fans. We hear amazing stories in other Cities how she takes the time after her Shows to greet her hoards of Devotees. Her Show at Sony Centre for the Performing Arts last Spring had her being scooted away quickly as hundreds of Fans waited patiently by the Stage Door to see her. Ditto again this time as she was snuck-out of the venue away from Fan view and believe me, hundreds were waiting again. What gives?
See some Snaps:
I repeat, we need no excuse to listen to a new Lana Del Rey Song. We began to grow a bit suspicious after seeing the Goddess Instagram much about The Age of Adaline of late and now we get it!
A new Snippet of LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL from the Romantic Drama, out this Friday, has surfaced online and you must hear it. Gorgeous.

I suppose this will have to do while we wait for the full version on iTunes!

Easily one of the most heavily-anticipated Albums of 2014, ULTRAVIOLENCE from LANA DEL REY is the captivating Singer/Songwriter’s second full-length Disc. First Single WEST COAST already has gone-on to crack the Top 20 of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and second Single SHADES OF COOL was just released to much critical acclaim. And it is gorgeous. The Disc is co-produced by The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach.
