They absolutely nail it in this softly-focussed Trailer for Behind the Candelabra, the upcoming HBO Film about World-renowned Pianist/Vocalist Liberace and his young Lover Scott Thorson. I must admit I am obsessed with Michael Douglas’ prosthetics and cannot erase the sight of Matt Damon in a bikini, coming out of a pool!
Now at long last you too can be mesmerized!

Toronto sure loves Game of Thrones and the latest Cast Member to grace our City is none other than Kit Harington. An no, that’s not Orlando Bloom whom he often is confused for! The 26-year-old Thespian Heartthrob arrived in Toronto last week to begin prep on Paul W. S. Anderson‘s (Resident Evil: Retribution, The Three Musketeers… Husband of Milla Jovovich) Action/Adventure Pompeii, which films later this month. And this of course wouldn’t be Harington‘s first time in Toronto though as he filmed Silent Hill: Revelation here early 2011.
Harington has been turning heads allover the City this past week with Fans taking to Twitter to voice their shock at seeing Jon Snow (his Game of Thrones Character) in-person on our streets. For once, some Snow in April is actually welcome! The incredibly kind Actor, who actually is even more handsome in-person, tells me he isn’t quite sure when some of his Co-Stars including Emily Browning (Sucker Punch), Jared Harris (Mad Men, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones) and our v. own Kiefer Sutherland will be here. The Film centers around a Man condemned to Slavery on a ship, who must work his way home to save the Woman he loves and his Best Friend, a trapped Gladiator. Think Django Unchained, but not really! eOne Films will release Pompeii in 2014.
The Actor also recently revealed (pardon the pun) that a nude scene is forthcoming on the fourth season of Game of Thrones, although we don’t know exactly when. He tells the New York Daily News, “I’m fine with nudity actually. I think it’s one of those things…you take off your robe and you are nude.“.
I never leave my Readers empty-handed, so in celebration of our Spotting, let’s share an Autograph shall we? To enter to win a Signed Photo from Kit Harington, click “like” on this Post before May 1, 2013. Share this Post on Facebook and double your chances! All are welcome to enter.
And while we’re on the topic, let’s take a look back at some of the Game of Thrones Cast Members who’ve visited Toronto recently:
Game of Thrones can currently be seen on HBO Canada on Sunday nights at 9:00 PM EST.

After several delays, it would appear that the release of Behind the Candelabra (formerly known as Liberace) is finally before us. Based on the Memoir by legendary Vocalist/Pianist Wladziu Valentino Liberace‘s much younger Lover, Scott Thorson, the HBO Movie dishes on the scandal and extravagance behind their relationship.
Starring Michael Douglas in the titular role, the Actor originally signed-on in 2008 to star in the Film, although delays ensued due to his battle with Cancer. Matt Damon plays Thorson, in addition to a strong Supporting Cast which includes Scott Bakula, Paul Reiser and Rob Lowe. If that weren’t enough, Steven Soderbergh helms what looks to be this year’s Game Change – and we know many Primetime EMMYsand Golden Globes that won.
With the help of Prosthetics, Michael Douglas goes through the most amazing transformation of all and it is reported that Damon had a special Tanning Technician visit his home regularly to gear-up for his role.
Although we’re still waiting on the Trailer, Entertainment Weekly gets a Sneak Peek for the Movie with both Damon and Douglas on the cover of their current Issue.

Right in time to launch the upcoming third season of HBO‘s Game of Thrones, Scottish Actress Rose Leslie is in-town and ready to work in a big way. The 26-year-old Actress first gained recognition internationally with a role in acclaimed Downton Abbey as the Housemaid Gwen, and now her star officially has risen first appearing on the second season of Thrones as Ygritte.
In addition to a bevy of Television and Radio appearances, including visits to The Roz & Mocha Show at KISS 92.5 and Global Television‘s The Morning Show (Toronto Edition), she also will be visiting CBC later today for George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight. Tomorrow, she will be gracing the Red Carpet opening of Game of Thrones: The Exhibition. The Event runs from March 9-16, 2013 at the Design Exchange, showcasing Artifacts from the first two Seasons of the Series, with selections from the upcoming Season.
The porcelain-skinned and petite Leslie was gracious enough to stop for a quick Snap earlier today, absolutely lovely and sweet! Unfortunately, no signs yet of Co-Star Kit Harington, who is said to be seeing Leslie, while slated to film Paul W.S. Anderson‘s Pompeii in Toronto next month.
Game of Thrones Season Three premieres on HBO Canada Sunday, March 31, 2013. See what Celebrities like Elijah Wood, Seth Green, Jessica Chastain, Charlize Theron, Anna Kendrick are freaking out about!

“Of the Cast, I think she’s most likely to have a long, lasting Film Career”, The National Post‘s Shinan Govani whispers into my ear. The “she” whom he is referring to of course is Allison Williams, Star of HBO‘s hotly-buzzed Series Girls, which sees a DVD/Blu-ray release next week – getting a bit of Promo here in Toronto. Govani hosted an intimate In-Conversation-With in the east-end of the City tonight with the stunning Actress, who happens to be the Daughter of NBC Anchor Brian Williams and also a Graduate of Yale herself.
Williams who arrived fashionably late understandably after a jam-packed day of Press which had her visit CBC, Corus and also MuchMusic for an appearance on New.Music.Live, looked nothing short of breathtaking. Every eye in the room was glued to the Beauty, who plays the role of Marnie on the Emmy-nominated Series, penned/produced/acted by It-Girl Lena Dunham.
Fame had to wait for Williams, whose Parents insisted that she completed her Studies before entering Show Business, telling us “College delayed my attempts at the Industry. I’m lucky and grateful.”. On her new-found Fame, she admits that she is still grappling with that. “No matter what age you are, it’s really tough”, says Williams. “What happens is this twist where people refer to me by my Character name – which is weird, but really isn’t considering the nature of my work”. As well, she is flattered by the Sex and the City comparisons which Girls receives much criticism for – a matter which Govani pointed-out right away as being the “Elephant in the Room”.
She reveals that she feels an instant connection to Fans who tell her they too are a “Marnie“, because she understands truly what that means. Williams however, wouldn’t give-away too many details about whether or not Marnie and Dunham‘s Hannah will reconcile their Friendship in the forthcoming second season of the Series. “I will say though that love is never lost”, she hints with tact as HBO Executives watched carefully.
I had the pleasure of chatting with Williams quickly, answering the one single question on everyone’s mind. And yes, she confirms to me that her stunning Red Dress is in fact by Oscar de la Renta. Truly down-to-earth and well-spoken, we chatted about the amazing selection of Music heard on Girls and she tells me, “Oh, Lena normally has say over that, but I might have helped get songs by Robyn and Ellie Goulding in”.
Season One of HBO‘s Girls is in-stores on DVD/Blu-ray on Tuesday, December 11, 2012. Season Two of the Series premieres on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at 9:00 PM.

HBO came out on-top tonight at the 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, winning a whopping 26 Awards with their Game of Thrones tying with Showtime‘s Homeland for top wins by Series with six wins apiece. Politics definitely were a common thread among many of tonight’s Winners with HBO‘s Game Change – centering on Sarah Palin – winning Outstanding Miniseries or Movie, while Homeland is about around a CIA Officer who suspects that a U.S. Marine was turned by the Al-Qaeda, now threatening the U.S.
Many were surprised by Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ win for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series with Veep, which centers around the fictional Office of a U.S. Vice-President, in a highly-competitive Category which had her up against Amy Poehler (Parks & Recreation), Tina Fey (30 Rock), Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie), Zooey Deschanel (The New Girl) and Lena Dunham (Girls).
Meanwhile, Jon Cryer finally nabbed his first win for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series with Two and a Half Men after being nominated for Supporting Actor in previous years – winning once – defeating previous Primetime Emmy Winners Alec Baldwin (30 Rock), Jim Parsons (Big Bang Theory) and Larry David (Curb You Enthusiasm), among others.
Claire Danes, who currently is spending time with Husband Hugh Dancy as he films Hannibal in Toronto, was awarded Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Homeland, while her Co-Star Damian Lewis also won Outstanding Lead Actor. The Series itself took home Outstanding Drama Series, defeating AMC‘s Mad Men which was on the verge of winning a record fifth time.
Not that there ever was any doubt about it, Julianne Moore, who only recently wrapped production on Carrie in Toronto, won for her portrayal of Sarah Palin in Game Change in the Category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie.
Fans of ABC‘s Modern Family can rejoice as the Series wins Outstanding Comedy Series a third time, while Eric Stonestreet won for a second time in the Category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, while Co-Star Julie Bowen was victorious also for a second time for Outstanding Supporting Actress.

With just four days till the 64th annual Primetime Emmy Awards, I’m finally catching-up on HBO‘s Girls after having stock-piled Episodes on my PVR. The Dramedy Series is nominated for an impressive five Awards already in its first Season, already winning Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series. With my post-TIFF Cold, finally I had reason enough to sit-down lie-down and discipline myself to watch all of its first Season. One part Sex & the City, one part balls-out Judd Apatow-esque funny, the Series is a startlingly funny take on what it means to be a mid-twentysomething surviving in the City.
Touching upon group dynamics in friendships, sexual awakening, financial struggle and self-realization; the messages are universal. Teenagers and Adults alike can find something to connect with here. I wish a Series like this existed when I was in grade 12, to get a real sneak peek at what life would’ve been like seven years later.
Although they completely were overlooked in the Emmy Nominations, Girls is filled with brilliant performances from its Supporting Cast including the sex-obsessed Adam Driver, the adorable Zosia Mamet, sassy Brit-accented Jemima Kirke and the lovely improv-trained Allison Williams. The charming Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids) appears late in the first Season as a delightful surprise.
As much as Girls is about the brilliant Script, Acting and Directing, it also is about the Music. The cute and kitschy (Britney, Demi, JLo, Feist, MGMT and more) Song Selection is superb and it will be interesting which Tracks make the cut for its December 11, 2012 DVD/Blu-ray release.
Plump-cheeked and porcelain 26-year-old Executive Producer Lena Dunham who also wears Actress, Creator and Writer caps, is a true National Treasure.
Although it appears v. much a Dark Horse at the Emmys this Sunday, my bets are set on HBO‘s Girls to take it all.
