Indulgence. Never mind its suggestively dubious Name, Glory Hole Doughnuts is some serious goodness. Tucked-away at Queen x Roncesvalles, the Doughnut Shop is all Old School Charm-meets-Modern Hipster Sensibility. I love it.
Inspired Doughnut varieties are irresistible, including the Elvis (Toasted Marshmallow, Banana, Bacon and Peanuts), Black Forest Cake (Cherry and Chocolate Icing), Cookies & Cream, Bread & Butter (topped with buttery Bread Crumbs), Pretzel (Chocolate-dipped, topped with Pretzel bits), Kensington Brewing Co. Beer (Nut Crumbs on a Beer-infused Icing), Lemon Meringue (literally topped with Lemon-flavoured Meringue), Banana Cream Pie and more. In-time for Halloween, they had even festive decorative Doughnuts dressed like Monsters. For the month, it is is re-dubbed cleverly as Gory Hole Doughnuts with the letter “l” in Glory blacked-out and scary adornments creep-out the Shop.
The Handmade Doughnut base is delightfully doughy, chewy and substantial to the bite, but some might argue that at $3.00+ a Pop, Toronto’s newest Confectionery Darling in the long run might be seen as a Novelty Treat versus a regular Go-To for Doughnut Cravings. Nonetheless, the Experience is memorable and I had a wonderful time with my Friends Keith, Amy and Chris – all of us super-excited and welcomed with open arms! The Drip-Brewed Coffee is bold and flavourful, available in 1 lb. Take-Home Bags – Cups however, should be larger as we’re living in a Venti-sized post-Starbucks World now.
Visit Glory Hole Doughnuts’ Official Website for more here. They are located at 1596 Queen st. West, Toronto, open 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, seven days a week.
