#FIRSTLOOK: ROM-COM “FROM ME TO YOU” WRAPS

Midnight Light today announced that production has wrapped on From Me To You, a romantic comedy from Yukon writer, director, and producer Daniel Little (Northern Tails). Co-written and co-produced by playwright and author Peter Jickling (Syphilis: A Love Story), the feature was recently selected for Telefilm Canada’s Talent to Watch Program. Principal photography took place throughout the summer in Whitehorse.

The film brings together an ensemble of emerging and established talent led by Allan Dobrescu (Fargo, DOC) as Paul, Genevieve Doyon as Nora in her feature film debut and veteran Indigenous actor Tahmoh Penikett (Battlestar Galactica, Man of Steel) as Evander.

From Me to You tells the story of two damaged people confronting their inner demons in search of love in Whitehorse. Paul (Dobrescu), an aspiring writer with cerebral palsy, develops feelings for his mail carrier, Nora (Doyon). Hoping for more opportunities to see her, he begins writing letters to himself. When Nora secretly reads the mysterious letters, she becomes captivated by their anonymous writer. As their lives become increasingly intertwined, Paul and Nora must confront their fears, examine their priorities and insecurities before their chance at love slips away.

“When Peter and I first began writing, we wanted to tell this story with authenticity and heart, and that intention has guided us through every stage of making the film, from the performances to the world we are creating on screen. I’m incredibly grateful to Allan for bringing such emotional depth, honesty, and insight to the role,” said writer, director, and producer Daniel Little. “We’re also deeply proud to be making this film in the Yukon. The warmth, humour, and genuine sense of connection that exists here is an integral part of the story we’re telling. It’s the perfect setting for a film about human connection, vulnerability and finding our place in the world.”

Both co-writer Peter Jickling and actor Allan Dobrescu have lived with cerebral palsy since birth, bringing lived experience to the heart of the film. Beyond his work as an actor, Dobrescu is also an advocate for disability inclusion in the Canadian screen industry, championing greater representation both on screen and behind the camera.

The film is produced by Marty O’Brien (The Arctics, Camera Trap) with Brendan Brady (Heated Rivalry, Fitting In), David Brady (The Grey Fox, You Wish), and Sonny Goldstein serving as executive producers. The creative team also includes David Hamelin as editor and Talia Woodland as cinematographer. Production financing is provided by Telefilm Canada’s Talent to Watch Program, Yukon Media Development, the Canada Media Fund, and Northwestel Community TV.
