I Think We’re Alone Now takes place after the apocalypse and follows recluse Del (Peter Dinklage) who believes he was the only survivor, until fiery Grace (Elle Fanning) bursts into his hometown.
Director Reed Morano crafts a captivating and character driven atmospheric survival tale. Morano’s use of setting to introduce her characters personality adds gives a special touch to this beautiful story. Dinklage is great as the man whose happier to be alone but has a change of heart when Grace comes along. And Fanning is spellbinding as the mysterious Grace whonis full of life. When they come together their chemistry is magnetic. Top that off with a shocking twist and this is an exceptional end-of-the-world Film.

Review by Siobhán Rich for Mr. Will Wong
Many people credit the birth of horror to the book Frankenstein. What is often forgotten, however, is the Author of that genre-defining Book: Mary Shelley. In this eponymously-titled Movie, modern audiences are given a brief look into the life of this important literary figure.
When Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin (Elle Fanning) meets Percy Bysshe Shelley (Douglas Booth) she has no idea the poet she has fallen in with is married, and by the time she does it is too late. Defying her father, she leaves with her lover in the middle of the night with only her beloved stepsister Claire (Claire Clairmont) by her side. The three live in poverty off Shelley’s earnings as a writer. A chance meeting with Lord John Byron (Tom Sturridge drowning in guyliner) eventually bring the trio to Geneva where Mary is inspired to write her first Book.
The formation of the ideas behind Frankenstein evolve on-screen in predictable fashion but the eventual discussion of the book in the Third Act will permanently alter how you see the doctor and his monster. Despite the rather florid dialogue, Saudi Arabian Filmmaker Haiffa Al-Mansour’s big budget debut is a solid Film. Led by Fanning, the strong cast makes Mary Shelley a must-see during the Festival.
Search Engine Pictures will screen Mary Shelley at the following times:
Saturday, September 09 6:30 p.m. Roy Thomson Hall
Sunday, September 10 1:30 p.m. Scotiabank Cinemas 2

Often the danger of the Festival Circuit is that some are too quick to jump the gun and proclaim “Oscar!“. Such isn’t the case when speaking to Bryan Cranston‘s phenomenal performance in Jay Roach’s (Austin Powers, Meet the Parents) Trumbo. Not enough is known about two-time Academy Award Winner Dalton Trumbo‘s courageous battle. An ardent Communist, the Writer found himself and his some of his closest comrades under great scrutiny for their beliefs, blacklisted by Hollywood’s most powerful studios and the U.S. government, eventually doing time in prison even.
Prior to his death in 1976, Trumbo had built a legacy in Hollywood, writing classics like Roman Holiday and The Brave One, initially however under aliases after his name had been boycotted by the most powerful in the industry. True to his beliefs and unwavering integrity, we witness Trumbo‘s valiant battle against the government, Hollywood and his personal struggles within his own circle of friends and family.
If you think you’ve been wowed by Cranston‘s top caliber television work, his portrayal of Trumbo will absolutely floor you in this all-in transition to the big screen. Expect him front and center in the Awards Season scramble. Also starring in the Film is a brilliant supporting cast including a long-absent Diane Lane as Trumbo‘s wife Cleo, up-and-coming Elle Fanning as Trumbo‘s eldest daughter Nikola, Louis C.K. in a convincing dramatic turn as confidant Arlen Hird, a superb Helen Mirren as the antagonizing Hedda Hopper, a fiery John Goodman as Frank King and fantastic show by New Zealand’s Dean O’Gorman as Kirk Douglas.
