Toronto’s Vortex Media, alongside Candour Pictures, are thrilled to announce a first look deal to finance, distribute and co-produce movies made for television and feature films.
The deal expands a growing partnership between the companies. Vortex Media previously assisted in the financing and distribution of Candour’s inaugural made-for-television movie TRAPPED IN THE SPOTLIGHT. The film is set to premiere on Lifetime in the US on February 15, 2025 and on Super Channel in Canada. Vortex is handling worldwide distribution on the title. Starring Monique Coleman of the HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL franchise, the film tells the story of an ex-R&B star who fights to revive her career after her co-star ends their duet on tour. Fifteen years later, an unhinged super fan/music producer abducts them both and forces them to complete their unreleased album as captives in his studio.
”As Vortex continues to grow its production and distribution capacities, we’re delighted to be expanding our relationship with Candour who come with years of on the ground producing experience, while having an ambitious entrepreneurial spirit,” says Vortex Media CEO, Justin Rebelo.
“We had a great experience supporting Candour on their inaugural made-for-television movie and can’t wait to make more together” said Vortex CCO, Jesse Ikeman.
“We are thrilled to strengthen our partnership with Vortex Media, a company whose dedication to premium storytelling and strong principals inspire and resonate with our vision. This collaboration highlights our shared commitment to creating impactful, high-quality content that resonates across platforms,” says Candour Co-Founder, Rebecca Lamarche.
“Vortex Media’s vision and expertise make them the perfect strategic partner as we grow and evolve our business. Together, we’re excited to deliver dynamic, top-tier film and TV projects to audiences worldwide,” says Candour Co-Founder, Myles Milne.
